Mark from Auto Glass Express just completed the work on my Camry, and I am a very happy customer. Commuting on 880 every day gives me a chance to buy new windshields pretty often. I think this is my third in six years, so I have some experience with glass companies, both stationary and mobile. I called around this time to get some quotes before I called Mark, and I was pleasantly surprised to find his price was $30-$40 less than the other companies I contacted. He also sounded like a nice, smart guy who appreciated the fact that his is a customer-oriented business, so that was a plus! Mark arrived with my windshield and subsequently noticed it had a scratch in it. Rather than install the defective glass and hope I wouldn't notice, he took the time to go back to the distributor and get another windshield that met his high standards. While he was installing the windshield, I asked if he could look at my driver side window. After being replaced by another glass shop, it had never quite rolled up properly, and Mark said he'd see what he could do. Whaddayaknow? He fixed that, too! A trip to San Francisco resulted in a lost briefcase and the funky, back-side window of our Subaru smashed. I went to Yelp to find a great place in the East Bay and Auto Glass was the highest rated. But the reviews didn't match my experience and that's why I'm compelled to write a review. I called Friday morning, desperate to get the window replaced before the weekend. I got an answering machine. I left a message. I didn't get a call back. Meanwhile I spoke with Cal Glass on Shattuck and they told me it would take a while to locate the glass I needed. Okay, at least I talked to someone. I called back Auto Glass Express later and got someone on the phone. She was nice enough but told me the glass will come from Sacramento and will cost more than $500. I about fainted. I told them I'd get back to them. Meanwhile, the folks at Auto Glass had been tracking down the cheapest price on the glass. They either have better connections or they just wanted to put more effort into satisfying their customer because they found the glass at half the price. They installed the pane and it's perfect. Maybe they're great over at Auto Glass Express once you're in there and if you don't care about the price. Maybe business is so good they don't bend over backwards to bring in business. Whatever it is, if you're on a budget, try other places before heading here. read more

I recently got the rear back window of my car broken (FYI, make sure to place your bicycle flat when you transport them in your car lol). If you don't feel safe driving to the shop with a broken window, you can call them and they will actually go to your house which is very convenient! Unfortunately, they didn't bring the correct window size so I had to drive there myself. No biggie since the place is easy to find. Plus, I was able to get a discount which was nice! The job was pretty fast - about 30-45 minutes. They take most insurance companies. Highly recommended! read more

I've come here several times in the past year--been having bad luck with car break-ins in Oakland and rocks cracking my windshield on 80... But the staff here have been courteous and helpful. I am decluttering my desk when I came across my invoice from Auto Glass Express. I called them in March for replacement of the front windshield of my Camry. I was able to get a same day appointment. We were attended to right away when we came in. We stayed in the waiting area for a bit then decided to walk to nearby Country Cheese for some gelato. Called in this morning to get a quote for removing some tint off my front driver and passenger windows (tickets) and was quoted $45 for each window. Given that you can do this for very little cost or free if you have a steamer, or hairdryer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9vzJDUM5Ag), this is a bit ridiculous. Additionally, Auto Glass Express told me that I would have to leave my car for a few hours, when the process itself takes just a few minutes. Haven't serviced my car here, but I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Auto Glass Express was a huge lifesaver and total relief/breath of fresh air. After having my car broken into and valuables being stolen - the silver lining was how quickly the window was fixed and how amazing their service was. I was able to drop off my car at night, have it locked up safely, and pick it up the following day (1pm) with everything back to normal. The tint was perfect and it looked as though nothing had ever been smashed in to begin with. Without Mark and the Auto Glass Express team, what was already a bad situation could have been worse. (DARN THUGS!!!) One or more thugs decided to break my driver side car window. (they even left me a nice gift... the nice smooth 7 lb stone that caused the shattering of thousands of glass shards inside my car). That was the problem! This review that I'm writing is about the solution that I received from Auto Glass Express. I called Ladan at 8:20am. She told me that she would have a technician at my door between 11 and 12. Elbare (sp?) showed up earlier because he was fixing the window of my wonderful neighbor who had ostensibly been violated by the aforementioned thug(s). I was more concerned about the glass that fell into the seats of my vehicle. I didn't understand how that could possibly be cleaned up. The service was friendly from the initial call to the handing over of my credit card. The window replacement was excellent. I can't tell that my car was recently assaulted by the unfriendly folks that apparently reside in my neighborhood. Thanks for allowing me to share my story. I didn't even mention that the cost of my repair was substantially lower than Safe Lite which Geico recommended. I hope that I won't need Auto Glass Express again. But, I will recommend them from the rooftops! read more

If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. I unfortunately had my car broken into twice in 1 month which means I had to drop some serious mula to fix 2 windows (damn you insurance and deductible. Also damn you people for breaking into my car. Alas, I digress). I called and made an appt for the same day and squeezed me in to have my car fixed exactly at their closing time. When I arrived I was told they gave me a little bit of a discount because the universe clearly ia doing me wrong. They did not have to do it at all which is amazing. After crying and having a minor melt down in the morning they really helped make my day feel better. I recommend them to anyone and everyone. Hopefully I won't have to visit again anytime soon but if the universe continues to give me 2 middle fingers, well, I know where I'll go. read more

Needless to say, most of us go looking for glass repair when some sorry excuse for a human decides to violate our property. Unfortunately, last night it happened to us. Fortunately, when I called Auto Glass Express at 7:30 AM, one of their employees greeted me with a cheerful attitude and was able to make an appointment for a representative to come to my house between 9 and 9:30AM. Awesome. One of the owners, Mark, arrived on time and proceeded to be kind and sympathetic to my bad mood. He got to work right away and within an hour had cleaned the glass out of my car and replaced the window - it looks perfect. I mentioned to him that I had found his business on Yelp - and he mentioned how important Yelp is for small, local businesses like his. Someone broke the side window of my 03 Subaru WRX, the broken glass in the door jammed the lock so the door wouldn't unlock anymore. Mark came at night in the dark, which made it impossible for him to see anything so he had to give up on installing a new window. But he did get my door unlocked. Next day he came back and installed a new window no prob. The price for all that work and getting to my house twice... $169.- I'll see anyone beat that... Due to a big crack in it, I needed my windshield replaced. Now, although I live in Berkeley, I rarely use Berkeley companies because they generally are more expensive than competitors in Oakland or El Cerrito. However, I was amazed at how cheap, reliable, and fast this service was. They came in about $100 cheaper than the nearest quote and the guy who did the repair even had good conversation! To top it all, the windshield they used was of better quality than the original one from Toyota. My car window was smashed on Friday night, and they had it fixed by Saturday afternoon. It only took an hour--just enough time for me to grab lunch at the Venezuelan place down the street. Wow, Auto Glass Express was amazing! My truck was broken into around 2 in the afternoon; my entire side window was smashed. I had to be in the city at 5pm for something, so I knew that it would be tough to get a replacement put in in time. I tried this place first and was really glad I did, they had the entire window fixed (and the glass vacuumed up!!!) in less than two hours. Friendly, fast, average price. It took literally 45 minutes from when they got my car inside to when they drove it out. very fast. the cheapest I had a windshield replaced for was around $200 (it was a good job). this place charged me $257, which is around the range that most places were charging, so i would say the price was average. however the service was very quick, above average definitely. They also e-mailed me a quote very quickly when i sent them over an email on a sunday afternoon (non-business hours) and since, like most of you, I'm a busy person, I appreciated the speed and no-nonsense enough to just go ahead and use their service instead of spending time and effort calling to find a dirt cheap deal. I have read reviews mentioning a lifetime warranty, Nothing of the sort was mentioned or offered to me. There are a couple of small dogs in the office. they are cute and friendly. read more

I was surprised to be scheduled for an appointment next morning. And I was in and out in less than an hour. One of the nice young ladies even suggested a cafe with free wifi less than a block away that I could go to while my car window was being repaired. Very convenient. Great customer service. And they also cleared all the glass from the interior of my car in addition to all of the dry seaweed and cracker crumbs my six year old child left behind on my back seat and floor. I had a window in my car smashed and was told by Safelite that it would be 2 weeks to get the glass and I'd have a 4 hour wait for the repair. The cost was $750.00 for the tiny window behind the passenger door! Wow. If all auto repair went as well as this, we'd probably have no more California debt, a balanced national budget, and world peace. Auto Glass Express came right to my door, exactly on time, with one of the nicest repair mechanics/technicians I've ever met (props, Mark!). On top of that, Auto Glass Express took care of all of my insurance paper work, so we're talking real minimum effort required on my end; and it's not even an official State Farm partner! Oh, and perhaps the best part was Auto Glass Express wanted to come *earlier* than I could do. I called on a Sunday evening, and they asked if they could come at 8:30 Monday morning! Unfortunately, I had to push it to Tuesday morning at 8:30... try scheduling such a quick appointment with your dealership. I got a chip in my windshield after tailing too close to a semi throwing up all kinds of ice and road debris in Tahoe. Lucky for me, Auto Glass Express showed up on Groupon a week later. Luckier for me, they're 2 blocks from my house. Luckiest for me, it was WAY cheaper and faster than dealing with my insurance company. I made an appointment through Groupon (easy) and found a convenient time within a few days of purchase. I took it in last night and Hugo let me walk home and finish up some work while he took care of my windshield. He called within a half hour to say it was done. There is still a small visible crack, but I'm super pleased with how well it filled up compared to what it was. It's definitely not as much of a nuisance as it used to be, and they guarantee it won't spread. To top it off they gave me a coupon book for some local green businesses. I woke up this morning to discover that during the night, somebody tossed their empty booze bottle through my rear window. Recently had my windshield replaced at the dealer - big $$. Well, within about two weeks a couple rocks hit the glass and I picked up two brand new chips in the windshield.
