The guy said we may close early today but call us as you are on your way and we will stay open for you. Their financing option expires TOMORROW and today is the only day we can go together to the dealership. So, after getting off work and as we are driving to the dealership around 447 pm, we called and spoke to Danny and he said they were starting to close soon, but if you get here before 530 pm, we will see you. Driving from SF to their dealership in San Mateo takes about 30 min, so we can definitely be there before 530 pm. We even told Danny we will get there at 515 pm, according to GPS. A few minutes later, Danny calls us back and said he spoke to his sales manager and said they will close in 10 minutes. That means, they will close at 5 pm, when the store hours said they close at 6 pm AND they said we will stay open for you if you call us and are on your way. How is this any kind of customer service? You have a client on their way and following YOUR instructions to call YOU before coming in, AND my husband called YOU earlier today at 330 pm confirming YOUR store hours and you said you will STAY open for us if we are coming. If nobody is coming or if we didn't call you, then yes I understand that you can close your store early because it's a holiday. But this is clearly not the case. AND the financing option expires tomorrow. Peter Pan BMW, you went back on your word all because you want to leave work 30 minutes early. You lost a client (and hopefully many others in the future when they read this review) because of your lack of hard work, or in this case, just work. Update as of 1/14/26: I emailed Gary from Customer Relations, the same day he replied to my Yelp review to "connect with me about my recent visit and communications with our team". I honestly did not expect anyone to respond when I wrote this review, but when I saw that Gary is interested in connecting with me, I thought wow ok, they do care about their customers, hence their name Customer Relations. When I emailed him, there was no automatic reply about him being out of office (as what people usually do when they are unable to respond to you), so I assumed he would reach out. It has been 11 days, and I still have not yet had a reply from him. I'm just saying, if you say you're going to connect with me, I'd expect you to. This just shows, yet again, I have reached out to Peter Pan BMW and have gotten a negative experience. I'd honestly prefer that you do not try to reach me now because I've had 2 bad experiences in this 1 location. To Peter Pan BMW Customer Relations, I honestly do hope you follow up with your customers when you say you do because this it is not nice to not follow through with your actions.

Negotiations were fair, and every question I had was answered thoroughly and clearly. Even at the end, Chris didn't just hand over the keys, he made sure I could connect my phone to the car and see my navigation. He also checked in the next day, making it easy to ask any questions I had that came up. Plus, he connected me to schedule an appointment with one of their Love Encore Delivery Specialists (shout out to Max) to go over all my car's buttons and features. Very much appreciated! I now feel like I fully understand my car. Lastly, a big thank you to Oliver in finance, who was so informative and easy to talk to. I never felt pressured or rushed. I had the opportunity in brokering a Mazda vehicle purchase for family members located in the greater Sacramento area and Putnam Mazda was able to provide the best competitive offer for the vehicle over nearby Mazda dealers at Elk Grove, Roseville, etc. Putnam Mazda alongside their other dealership brands represents a massive inventory and higher volume sales that is apparent through their commpetitive pricing and scaled professionalism compared to the smaller local dealerships. This was made very clear when I initially contacted them with offer numbers. It was literal minutes after I sent my offer letter to Putnam Mazda when Will Browning called me and soon after agreed to terms. The very next morning, I drove the family members and myself 2.5 hours to Burlingame, CA and was in and out of the dealership with key fobs in hand in less than 3.5 hours. This included a test drive, financing paperwork and a full new owner tutorial that was both done in a patient, personable and thorough manner by Will Browning. Will Browning was instrumental in curating a sales purchase that was expedient and communicative and was a great co-collaborator in this transaction who also made it very clear to Jay the finance manager to keep on the straight and narrow when it came to dealer add ons. Jay was very respectful and professional in those regards. I understand that not many people would drive that far out to purchase a vehicle but how we spent the majority of the time to facillitate this deal on our time and terms mattered the most to us vs wasting time with the local dealerships who clearly are not on the same competitive level as Putnam Mazda / Bay Area dealership on the sales side for a higher price.

He does deep inspections and genuine research on what he sells, and it shows in the quality. What stood out most is how he treats customers: like he'd treat you as a close friend -- honest about the details, clear about pricing, and focused on getting you into the right car rather than "making a sale." The pricing was refreshingly straight up and felt better than what I was seeing on the broader market for comparable vehicles, especially considering the condition and how well-vetted everything was. One tip: come prepared. If you've done your homework and know what you want, Select Motors is the place. This isn't a dealership for spending an afternoon casually test-driving a bunch of different makes and models -- you'll get the best experience when you respect Horatio's time (and your own) and show up ready to make a smart decision. He is the best Bay Area BMW mechanic!! He doesn't even have a cash register or printout of services. I understand this may be a dealbreaker. He just texts me how much everything will cost and I pay him via PayPal. But putting that aside, Edward knows BMWs as well as the dealership. He's definitely less expensive than the dealership since that's the whole point of avoiding dealerships. However, of all the independent mechanics, he's not the cheapest either. I think that's okay since cheaper mechanics create more problems. Edward gets the job done right the first time so I never have to go back for the same issues. How I first met him: I was looking for a collectors '97 M3. I came across his ad for a 2001 Z3 (same engine as 3 series 2.5i). The Carfax indicated this car was great up until 2014 when the cooling system died. He swapped the whole system like a pro and was selling it with a warranty. During the warranty I ripped the car to make sure to cooling system survived, and it did. Still works great today. Since then I've had my soft top cut by someone trying to break in. Dealership quoted me $2000 something; Edward bought genuine bmw twill top and charged me $1075. Changed my AC compressor, including freon vacuum and fill for $395. Just a week ago, my water pump failed while I was on the highway. This caused catastrophic failure of other engine components since the belt slipped of and went crazy. I checked forums and apparently the water pump bearing failure is common for the E39. The belt destroyed the tensioner, thermostat, fan, fan shroud, and radiator. Dealership quoted me $4500 since they no longer manufacture mechanical tensioners. They would have to swap all belt components to hydraulic, regardless if it were damaged. They simply can't buy after market parts for legal reasons. Dealership still charged me $198 just to give me that diagnostic (it's their typical 1 hour charge). Edward found OEM parts and charged me $1125 (belt, mechanical belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat, fan, fan shroud, radiator, generator pully, and coolant flush/refill). While the car was at his shop I decided to get other work done as well. Front rotors and brake pads for $280. Front control arm bushings for $275. With any 16 year old car, you must expect things to break. But everything Edward has fixed has never broken again. Not a lot of BMW owners who go to independent mechanics can say the same about their cars.

I'm not surprised with this experience considering the other reviews, just disappointed. he didn't even reach out to give me an update on the car before it had sold. I thought he wasn't about wasting peoples time.
