It's not a glamorous buffet, but it's good enough for a free complimentary breakfast. * Relatively clean and modern hotel room. That was spacious and offers decent amenities for live-in situations. Things I didn't like: * The lack of quality service: service desk folks aren't the most friendly and they they are limited in what they can do. * The pool is filthy. There are dead bugs, cigarette butts, etc. just floating around the pool. The space around for lounging was fine but the uncleanliness was a huge turn off. * EV Chargers were often occupied. By non EV vehicles. * Gym wasn't the most well maintained. We're talking sweaty seats, sticky handles, and slightly disorganized equipment. Would I stay again? All things considered, most likely. I can avoid the gym, pool, and people and I figure I can focus on what they do best.

We got a 1 bedroom with a den that had a queen bed. Although the den did not have an actual door or privacy, what we got in amenities made up for it. There was a weird incident where we walked in on 2 employees who appeared to be engaged in gratuitous acts moments before we attempted to open the door. Although, maybe we were mistaken...we all just got an odd vibe from the two employees (one behind a closed bedroom door we found after talking with the first employee for over 5 minutes) and the other changing the password on the lock (from the inside of the room?--/he had to exit to do this after we entered the room). We had requested an early check in, so it was weird to find anyone hanging out there, playing "peek-a-boo" with grown guests at the initial check in. But the final total for a 4 night stay amounted to $1741.90...and considering the location...the amenities...the layout of the room...it was worth it! Just a warning: while the rooms are equipped with full kitchens, there aren't basic items like salt, oil, cutting boards (although one was brought to us after a text) to do any substantial cooking. But, who doesn't love a room where you can actually wash laundry BEFORE heading home?

After chatting with an agent they informed me that by booking direct I could get a deal and I canceled my original booking and booked directly through them with a savings around $250. I had a few questions prior to arriving and every time I texted an agent I received an answer almost immediately. This type of communication continued throughout our stay. The accommodations were pristine. I am extremely picky and honestly was nervous about staying here as it isn't our typical type of accommodations when we travel, but I could not have been happier. The apartment was huge. It was spotless and everything looked brand new. While we didn't cook there, the kitchen was fully stocked with what you would need to make a meal. There was a French press! There were extras like coffee, hot sauce, tampons; they thought of everything you might not have thought of. We spent hours listening to the eclectic record collection thy provided, so fun! Also, the neighborhood was super cool. We ate from some crazy good food trucks (rolling smoke, bomb tacos), checked out an awesome dive bar (the white horse) and found it completely walkable to the downtown area. Everything in the cottage has been painstakingly assembled. We surprised ourselves by playing 1970s Monopoly (U.S. edition) that was kept in one of the cupboards. Keeping with the 'keep it weird' theme Austin lives by, you'll find a magazines dedicated to chickens, chandelier hanging from the tree, an old camera on a tripod (manual hanging from it) being used as a lamp and much more. The daily breakfast is made from scratch and is always a pleasant surprise as it varies everyday. That with a garnish of conversations with Shakti is always a great start to the day, as she is a repository of tips to make the most of your visit. This was like staying at one's aunt's place; it's not perfect but that's the point!

The rooms were really nice and i've never been told in advance what my room number was going to be. So when I looked at the app the day before and saw I was given a lower floor directly above Star Bar, i used the app to see what other rooms were available and moved to a higher floor with a better view. The 3rd floor had a small outdoor dog relief area which has poop bags for free. I liked all the options of the TV, though I barely watched it and mostly used it to play music in the room while I had friends over. The bar and restaurant are pretty good and I reviewed them separately as Verbena Food & Drink. You do not get any type of breakfast included with the room, but the restaurant had a great but expensive menu. I was disappointed by how few late night food options I found in the West 6th neighborhood and zero markets that I could find when I was wanting to get some beer for the room. There are plenty a few minutes away by car but I didn't want to deal with valet or high prices at the front desk for drinks. There's one offering I didn't have the time to take them up on, but in the future I would if I was here on a business trip and that is that they provide dual screen monitors for your desk if you request it. That would make a long stay great for working from the room.

It's romantic and private without feeling stuffy, and every detail feels intentional. We were immediately obsessed. A huge part of that was the people. Jennifer, the GM, Josh, the bartender, Hannah, who took care of us at the pool and in our room, and everyone at Hotel Saint Cecilia made us feel so welcomed and celebrated. Several members of the team stayed well past their shifts to talk and hang with us after our proposal. We had so much fun with them and genuinely feel so lucky that we got that extra time. We've been talking about it ever since. And their time and attention started even before we arrived! The team worked with me behind the scenes to help pull off the proposal, and I truly couldn't have done it without them. Then there's the hotel itself. The music playing throughout the property, the colors and textures, the record players in the rooms, the cool robes, the pool, the statues, the art, it all feels considered. The entire experience is a joy for the senses, from the incense and lighting to the food and music. Our room was beautiful with a view of the city, our bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room service was excellent. We also spent both evenings at the lounge, letting Josh steer our drink choices. His recommendations did not miss. The caviar chicken nugget and ice cream sandwich were both standouts. The cigar box in the lounge was another incredibly thoughtful touch that made our engagement night feel even more special. This was, without question, the staycation of our lives. A longtime member of the Hotel Saint Cecilia team said: "Hospitality means you want to come back." We weren't ready to leave!! We'll be looking for any and every excuse to return.
