To this days I have nightmares of this place. I went in to get a cleaning and a tooth redone because I had chipped it years earlier and came out with the worst dental work I've ever had! They shaved down one of my teeth causing an excess of food to get stuck between that and another tooth causing me pain and frequent infections. The tooth they rebuilt is literally chipping away constantly. The one I had before stayed in tact for 15 years while whatever they did lasted me 2 weeks before it started failing. To top it all off, I continuously get harassed about paying a bill that I already paid! I confirmed in person during my final visit that I was paid in full, yet they continue to bother me. I love this group! I made an appointment in November to learn about Invisalign and I felt really good about the interaction that I moved forward with the treatment plan. I received a call and went in to pick up my trays about two weeks later. Treatment was exactly as expected and I just LOVE my new smile! Although Dr. Saxena is very good, I am only giving the practice a rating of one because as of May 2022 the Austin office no longer accepts dental insurance but Dr. Saxena accepts dental insurance in the Killeen office "House of Smiles" where she practices a few times a month. They did, however, honor the insurance estimate for my dental work because it was dated pre-May even though the dental work wasn't completed until June. I was a bit unsure was going to happen after Dr. Don retired, but found Dr. Saxena extremely caring and confident and was looking forward to continue as a patient. Now because they have a new manager, they want to change what we have already signed on. Surgery is THIS Thursday. Now they don't want to have the surgery, unless balance is paid in FULL. I received a bill for $62.60 for a cleaning that should have cost $0. I checked the Explanation of Benefits through my insurance and $62.60 is the insurance discount not an amount a patient pays. The EOB has my share as $0. I put the bill and EOB in the envelope with a note for the billing manager to contact me. No call. Received another bill and called Betsy as soon as I received it. First, she tried to convince me that it was my bill, next she claimed they are out of network. Humana has their office listed as in network. Sounds like illegal charges to me. I have been going to this office for years and had excellent treatment and care from Dr. Davis before he retired and sold the business to Dr. Saxena. I have the bill and EOB as proof. After a few years of visiting a big conglomerate dentist office, I decided it was time to find something else. My kid's dentists also has become very hard to get an appointment with, so I was looking for something for the whole family. I chose this office simply because it was really close to my home. I figured I'd go in for a cleaning and if I liked it, then I'd change the kids... if not, well, there's others. I showed up a day early because I apparently cannot read a calendar. The front office staff was very sweet, but they couldn't work me in. But they took my paperwork and we were ready to go for the next day (they also got a good laugh - with me, of course, not at me). I came back the next day and all was well. I wouldn't say that I'm afraid of the dentist, but I can think of about 10,000 other things I'd like to do than have someone poking at my mouth. I wasn't exactly looking forward to it. Not only did the front staff make me feel welcome and have a wonderful sense of humor, but my hygienist (I want to say her name was Tina) was an absolute breath of fresh air. She was relaxed, we were joking around, she was gentle, my teeth got super clean and I felt like I was visiting an old friend. I definitely won't be dreading the trip in six months. I only visited with the dentist himself for a few minutes, he came in to take a quick look (no cavities!) and I was on my way out - where I quickly made appointments for my kids - with only a week to wait - not four months. Whew! My kids also had a great visit. I like that they encourage you to NOT go back with them (my kids are 10 and 8). I think it made it easier on the kids, the hygienist and myself. Both kids came out smiling and happy. One needed a small cavity filled, so we went back the next week. I did pay for her to have the gas, but she came out perfectly happy with no problems. The did a great job AND they were super friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend them (and recommend I did!) to my friends and family. read more

I called Lake Creek Family Dental complaining of a terrible tooth ache right before their office was about to close. They told me to come in and I'd be able to be seen. I knew from a previous dentist that the tooth in question would one day need a root canal. Dr Davis confirmed this. At this point I thought I was going to be told to grab some pain meds and come back. Even though most of the office had left Dr Davis told me he wasn't going to let me leave in pain. I was very grateful for this. It's also worth mentioning that I'm not a good dental patient. I have a fear of being numb. Dr Davis came up with a solution where he just numbed the tooth and not my entire mouth. He was very easy to talk to and was very willing to accommodate me. Dr. Davis also used a rubber dam. This is the first time a dentist has used this on me. I will now request this every time I have work done as it prevents all materials from entering the rest of the mouth. I've swallowed dental chemicals in the past (easy to do when you're laying down and have your mouth propped open). I'm now offended that my previous dentists didn't care enough to use this device. read more

I have been going to this office for 30 years, starting when it was Davis & Davis. Recently, the Davis's retired and the office is now under Dr. Saxena. I have seen her several times, and she fixed a cracked tooth for me. She is personable, thorough, and I like her. In the Spring, though, things changed in the office, and given my recent experience, I will not be returning or recommending them. They changed the name of the practice, and when this was announced, I check my provider list to make sure the newly named practice was on it. It was not. Nor was Dr. Saxena. I emailed the practice to see if this was a mistake and if they were still in network. I got no response. My wife later called on the phone to ask the question before we both had appointments, and she was told that we were still good. (terminology there uncertain, though). We both had cleanings done, and the entire staff had changed. There was a new dentist, and new hygienists. It was clear that they were not only new to the practice, but new to the profession, and I honestly was not satisfied with the experience. I would chalk that up to inexperience and would be willing to try them again, until the billing matter. I received a notice from my insurance that I would owe a significant copay since they practice was out of network (!), which is not what we were led to believe. I called the practice, who then confirmed that they were negotiating with the insurance company to get back in the network. I was told the bill would be taken care of, but they could not do anything until they got the insurance claim back, and then they would take care of it. I then got a bill emailed to me the next week. I called in again, went through the whole story, and this person was less certain of what the outcome would be and said their billing person would call me back. Another week went by without a phone call, and I tried again, gave the story again, and was promised I would get a call back. A week later, I receive a bill in the mail, call in, told that billing would call me back. No call. Try again this week, got an answering service, they would have billing call me back. No call yet. The practice was unable to confirm correctly what my insurance coverage would be prior to our appointments, they will not even talk to me about the bill, and their providers are sub-par and low on a learning curve. Dr Saxena, I believe, added a second location to her existing practice, and it seems she might be over her head in managing them both. It's unfortunate, she seems to be a very good dentist herself, but I cannot deal with the other issues involved and will have to look elsewhere. read more

I was really surprised to see a low review for this dental office because I've been coming here since 2009 and taking my kids here as well since they were 2 and I've never had a issue. I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months and I couldn't be any happier with the staff here, polite and professional. Reading some of the reviews on here concerns me if your not getting your teeth cleaned regularly along with flossing and brushing everyday expected to have a couple of cavities and need a root canal. Dental work can be very expensive and not sure why people do not realize that and yes just like a hospital you have to fill out all the forms. Root canals aren't life threatening but when not treated they are very painful, I've heard of people going to the E.R over a tooth ache so what does that say. I'm not trying to offend anyone by any means I just wish you would you would do some research beforehand and if you think this office doesn't comply with you then go to a government program Dental. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Don Davis since 1986, and have had Don do everything for my dental care since then, including routine prophylactic care, fillings, root canals, crowns, and most recently, a dental implant to replace two (bottom) front teeth that were traumatically injured years ago (playing ice hockey). Suffice it to say, I wouldn't keep returning to any place where I am not well taken care of, and I have had other dentists remark at the excellence of Don's work, especially the margins in his restorative work. (For those of you who don't know, a "margin" is the border between a crown, filling or other dental repair and the natural tooth material - the smaller and tighter a margin is, the more comfortable, longer lasting and attractive the restoration work will be. Also, unfortunately, that is the most difficult part of the restoration process. Don is an artist!) My dental implant that Don made is indistinguishable from my natural teeth, and no one has ever noticed that I have the implant. I can chew and bite as well as I could when I had my natural teeth. The color, size and positioning are perfect and match exactly my surrounding teeth. The implant is smooth and comfortable in my mouth, and does not affect my speech or (don't laugh) whistling. The implant wasn't inexpensive, but I didn't want anything less than the best to replace those two front teeth. I feel strongly that I got what I paid for, and was happy to pay it. The entire staff at Lake Creek Family Dental Care is one big family. I see the same faces (and get a Christmas card) every year, and everyone seems to like each other and work well together. I like the excellent professional care I receive and the personal attention they give me. Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Zahedi has been so awesome. My kids visit his office and help their treatment. My older girls is NOT the easiest patient at all as she is so scared of dental treatments. As a background info: She was told by 5 different dentists - all famous and awesome doctors - couldn't handle her and said she needs anesthesia as she is too scared and won't open her mouth. She finished that treatment at another dentist as I didn't know Dr Zahedi back then. Now, she needed one baby tooth extracted as it cane out from the side. My daughter again, freaked out about it but Dr had very calm attitude all through the time, talk to her and let her understood, did the treatment successfully. I'm a big fan of Dr. Zahedi's attitude as a dentist. Staff st the office are very kind. They handled with my Insirance very patiently and sorted out at the end. Thank you very much! read more

I saw Dr. Davis over a year ago for a consultation and then some fillings. Had an awful experience (mostly related to my anxiety with the fillings) so haven't been back. The nurse was nice but the Dr. was pretty impatient with my needing to take breaks throughout. Regardless this was all a year ago, but I am now being asked for a past due balance via aggressive text messages....and when I called in to explain that couldn't be true, was told that I had been getting statements over the past year and half but then the lady backtracked and said for some reason my address had been deleted from their system. So for a year and a half I've owed money (which I still think is inaccurate) but they haven't informed me until now via text message and are threatening it will go to collections. Awesome. read more

I lived by Dr. Don Davis' office when I first moved to Austin. However, when I bought a house and settled into a neighborhood I wanted a dentist closer to home. I call the office to transfer my records. They confirmed the records are all digital; I could not pick them up. But, Dr. Davis charges $50 to email the records. I certainly understand paying something for their time. But, 10 or 20 dollars seems reasonable for a quick digital email. Looking back, I should not be surprised. The office cancelled my appointment because the hygienist will be out. No problem. Rescheduled. I get to the office, and I have a substitute hygienist. I thought I was waiting so I would have my regular hygienst. The cleaning was rushed and inadequate. I informed the reception of this when I "checked-out". She said she would note this on my chart, make sure I get in with the regular hygienist in the future. Next visit, another substitute hygienist cleans my teeth. Some visits I would not even see the doctor. I have dental insurance. But, I could count on receiving by mail an additional invoice for more payment to Dr. Davis. When I called to inquire about this, I was told that the office could not determine the total until insurance paid. My previous dentist office (in another state) could tell me the total cost before the appointment. What the insurance would pay and what I would owe. Btw: insurance covered all my previous routine visits unlike Dr Davis. And, nothing else was "charged" without a discussion. read more

I have gone to Dr. Don as long as I can remember going to the dentist. I cannot rave enough about him and his staff. The whole staff treats you like family and genuinely cares about you as an individual. They are extremely accommodating, especially when you get that sudden and dreaded tooth ache. I don't know anyone who "enjoys" the dentist, me as well, but I sure do enjoy seeing all the friendly faces at Lake Creek Family Dental. Do not go to this office. Dr. Davis tried to perform a complicated retreat of a root canal instead of telling me to go to an Endodontist who specializes in root canals. Consequently while Dr. Davis attempted to do this root canal, he broke a file off in the root. This prevented further access to the root. I followed up with an Endodontist and he could not remove the file after trying for 2 hours. I now have to have the tooth replaced and an implant put in. All this because Dr. Davis did NOT pass me off to a professional. read more

My wife and I committed to taking care of our dental work over a 2 year plan after a long drought between regular dental visits. We both went Lake Creek Dental and had a plan worked up by the dental office. We wanted to maximize our dental insurance benefits and minimizing our out of pocket expenses. The work up needs ranged from new fillings, crowns, to changing old amalgam fillings to stronger crowns and wisdom teeth removal. 1. Issue 1, I trust the recommendations of those who I feel are professionals in their fields and expect that they act in the best interest of the patient. I followed the plan to a tee put together by the Dentist Don Davis. Its important to know that prior to any dental work that was performed I had no pain, discomfort, with eating chewing etc. After my the first round of fillings and crowns, I have a slew of new issues. Tooth sensitivity on the new fillings where I cant bite down on anything, and the crowns have too much space between them where large chunks of food get lodged and create discomfort when eating. During follow up visits and they would poke around on the filings and largely dismiss any of those concerns. On the new crowns they would run floss through them and say that one may have an issue with but other one seems okay. Irony is when it shows up on your new dental work out plan to reset the crown. Lesson 1: If it is not broke don't fix it. This applies to my amalgam filings which I have had since I was 16 (now I am 36). Never had any issues and now I get food lodged in and under the crowns that replaced them with. Lesson 2: Ask all questions up front about when the work is performed. If there is any sensitivity of issues with work performed will that be rectified and what is the process and how does that effect my out of pocket expenses. 2. Issue 2: I had my wisdom teeth pulled in the office with a guy they bring in to perform the work. At the time Belinda was in charge of billing. I would get a bill every month with a running balance for myself and my wife who had the same work performed. I would call into the office as this drug on for literally months. I would offer my assistance and Belinda would said it just takes time we are taking care of it. As it pushed to month 8 and I kept getting bills, I raised my concern that it should not be taking 8 months to get the insurance to pay the remaining balance. Turns out that Belinda retired and this was not taken care of. Enter the new billing person Lisa. Had a phone call with her and of course it turns into: We file insurance claims as a courtesy to the patient. Then bills that come in with little notes like we have all we could with the insurance co. This is the balance due. Everything listed below could have been taken care of if billing would have just taken the time to pick up the phone and communicate with each other which did not happen. Lesson 3: Insurance claims must be filed in a timely manner (in a year) otherwise they will deny your claims. Now I am 15 months in, trying to get to the bottom of the issue of why these claims are getting denied from both myself and my wife. My Dental company required a medical insurance denial letter to pay through dental. After multiple phone calls to the insurance company, I told them to send me everything the dental office sent in. Medical indeed did issue a denial letter, but the service dates were inverted for my wife and my services. Thus dental kept declining he claims because service dates were not matching up. So I had to get Lisa to resubmit to medical correct services dates. Medical denied revising the paperwork because of the timely filing clause since we were pushing 15 months. Needless to say I get a bill every 30 days for the dental service and just got a collection notice. So I called the dentist office and paid the balance in full out of my own pocket when the entire purpose of my work out plan was to maximize dental benefits, minimize my out of pocket expenses and to take care of all my dental work. All three of these goals failed. This was an expensive lesson learned but one that will never be forgotten. In summary, I might just be that 1 guy who got the short end of the stick. You will definitely get a bit a of used car sales feeling from the office. Seems like your work out list never ends and they go into the pushing for getting you scheduled to follow their recommended treatment plan. My advise is to be educated and to be assertive. Have to conversation about what is absolutely needed. Dont let them schedule for services with out contacting your insurance company to discussed EXACTLY what needs to be done and the cost work out. With that being said the ladies in the office are very nice. (receptionist and those who perform the cleaning). read more

I have been going to Lakecreek Dental since sometime in the 1980s. I initially chose Dr Don because he was on my dental insurance but I keep going to him because he and office staff are wonderful. They are happy, funny and fun to be with. Dr Don is different from any other dentist I've been to. He does not want you to be in any pain and works hard to keep you as pain free as possible. I'm a big baby where pain is involved and he has always been gentle with me and tried to keep the pain as low as possible. He's calm, friendly, spends as much time with you as you need, always has a smile for you and just really nice. He even recognized me in a movie theater once. Cara is my hygenist. Love. Her. I will not do business here. They actually expected me to sign a form that said I would pay them if their office told me they accepted my insurance when they actually didn't!! I understand being responsible for bills when insurance just doesn't want to pay, but the other part is the catch. The problem comes down to this- by signing the form, you agree that, basically, if the dental office makes a "mistake" by telling you that they accept your insurance prior to your appointment, and then tells you after your appointment that they actually do not accept it, you are then stuck with the bill because of their "mistake" (they lied to you). If they didn't tell you they took insurance they didn't take, you could have gone to somewhere that actually took it! I can be responsible for my bills, but I'm not going to mess with people who think they can make me sign a form saying that I'll take responsibility if they screw me over. read more

My husband is a total dentist-phobe, so when he found someone that he liked I was thrilled. Unfortunately, it turns out that these are the most expensive dentists in the city!! He had to have some work done, so he asked what his out-of-pocket costs were going to be and they said $200-$300. He was pretty shocked when he went in to get the work done and they asked him to pay $565. They made it sound like some of that would be refunded after they filed with insurance. However, they then billed us for an additional $350 AFTER filing with our insurance. So our out of pocket costs were 3-4 times what they had told us. They wouldn't adjust the bill at all, although they did let us set up a payment plan (joy of joys). They say they are providers for our insurance plan (Delta) but the insurance company says they aren't--they are a 'premier dentist' not an actual contracting dentist. Don't go to these guys for any actual work to be done unless you have a lot of spare change that you're just itching to spend. Even our insurance company said they were higher than other dentists in the same area. I really wish we had called insurance first instead of trusting the people in the dentist's office. read more

Our family has seen this Dentist office since 2011- Great Dentist Dr. Davis and Dr. Garcia (no longer in this practice) we were very happy with their office staff also, until they hired a new manager, be aware don't question her regarding your bill, is her way or no way, she runs your credit card twice by mistake on the wrong day, blames it on other "new"? employees, collects money from you knowingly that you have had a credit on one of your accounts since 2015 and does not have the common courtesy to take it into consideration of letting you know. Please don't ask her to review your ledger, your bill might go up for no reason, common Accounting 101 will tell you if you transfer a credit it should bring your patient portion down not up, you send e-mail asking for explanation and she threatens you in turning you over to a collection company even though you just got a statement on Thursday in the mail, on Friday you e-mail her and call her and you leave a message, and your statement says that your account is current and then you call her two days later she says your balance is higher. PLEASE LADY GO RIGHT AHEAD! If I owe it I will pay it, but if I don't I just won't be giving you money just because I am scared of you and of your unprofessional tactics of collection.
