Aurora had been on my list for a while to try, but since we have a six-month-old we don't get out a lot. A friend was babysitting for us tonight and we finally got to try it ... it definitely lived up to my expectations! We started off with the smoked Old Fashioned for my husband - $45 so a bit pricey, but the presentation was super nice - and a cocktail for me. We got the tableside Caesar salad - again pricey, $20 per person and if it's for two people you can get it tableside (which was REALLY cool btw) but if for 3+ people I don't think you can. They literally roll out this huge cart to make it though and it was pretty neat. I had the mushroom pasta with filet mignon tips and it was great; my husband had the sausage pasta which I also liked. We weren't planning on getting dessert (I think, haha - I was pretty full, at least), but we got the tiramisu and the tiramisu drink for my husband (I was driving). Both were very good - the tiramisu isn't large by any means but is enough for 1-2 people. The drink comes with a huge ladyfinger on top. Overall I was very impressed by the food, atmosphere, and waitstaff here - it's not an inexpensive place ($40 for two salads is a bit pricey!) but everything was fabulous, and I definitely want to return at some point. There's also a wine bar next door, I believe, and I didn't know that Prime 29, Nara, and a few other local restaurants are all in the same restaurant group/ownership as Aurora. read more

When making plans with my friend, I let her know I was in the mood for nachos and pasta. She doesn't know it, but I have nachos infrequently and only have them with her. We both tossed out options and settled on this location of Aurora (no nachos here). My friend shared that the other location used to be Matter of Taste, a restaurant that sadly was on my to-try list. I loved the ambiance here: florals cascading from the ceiling, plants wrapped with twinkle lights, lush comfy chairs, and servers all in teal velvet jackets. This is the type of place one wants to make an effort for, spending more time selecting that perfect outfit. I had peeked at the menu online before the visit, and there was no question I would get seafood pasta. It had both the pasta that I was seeking and, of course, the seafood that I prefer. The tender linguine was topped with mussels, calamari, shrimp, and clams. My friend had the pasta with organic chicken and speck, in a cream sauce. That dish looked fantastic, as well. I ordered truffle Parmesan fries to start. I enjoyed them with the garlic mayo. She had the arancini in a pool of tomato sauce and fresh basil. We both opted for dessert, crème brûlée for me and a multi-layer carrot cake for her. Service was stellar. Our server shared her recommendations and checked in with us throughout our meal. The only drawback: There was a delay in parking as the valet blocked and stopped every vehicle before allowing those who preferred to self-park in. I think it's their sales technique. read more

We decided to sit in the bar for happy hour and the cocktails were very reasonable, the bartender was a bit slow but the waitress informed us that he was flying solo so it was to be expected. The service was great, our waitress was friendly and upbeat . We ordered a Caesar salad to share and Marg pizza. The salad was good until I noticed a small hair in it( I didn't complain or tell them) my only suggestion is to maybe use a little less dressing. The pizza was delicious but the presentation wasn't the best, the cheese and toppings were sliding off as I pulled each slice. Came in for a friends birthday dinner, upon walking in this place is beautiful! There is live music and the decorations are amazing. We were seated once our whole party arrived, our server was super nice attentive and described the menu extensively. I ordered the filet mignon medium 5/10 that flavor was nice but it was tough. The garlic on the plate was hard. For sides I ordered the truffle smashed potatoes 10/10 and brussel sprouts 6/10. They bring out bread to start with homemade olive oil which was delicious 10/10. I had a strawberry mojito cocktail which was decent 6/10. Overall nice vibes but the food isn't my favorite thing about this place. read more

Aurora is one of my favorite go-to spots in Bloomfield Hills! I've been here multiple times--work dinners, catching up with friends, and even events in their event space--and every visit has been consistently great. The food is always delicious. I absolutely love the arancini and the Dover sole, and their Caesar salad with anchovies actually converted me (I used to avoid anchovies and now I look forward to it here!). The pastas are also amazing--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The ambiance is beautiful, and the service has always been friendly and welcoming. When you walk in this spot it was gorgeous and we were very warmly welcomed by the host. We sat in the bar area and the service was 120 percent impeccable. I went here with two of my friends for dinner and the entire experience was 100%. We were able to easily make reservations online. They had valet option as well as a parking lot for self-parking. I was taken away by how aesthetically beautiful it was when we walked in. And the customer device was on point. We enjoyed everything we ordered. We got the fried calamari, the arancini primavera, fritto misto, and the bread we vie for appetizers. The arancini was like a mix between a mozarella stick and arancini and the calamari had nice flavor. For dinner we got the truffle risotto which had. a lot of mushrooms which was great for my table because we love mushrooms. We got the short ribs which were probably some of the best I've had. The meat was super tender and flavorful. It came with some risotto. We also got the Frutti Di Mare. It had a lot of seafood in it. It wasn't my favorite but was good. Lot of good tomato flavor. My friends loved it. We also got the smashed potatoes that were nice size. I was full so didn't really have too much of those but they had a nice savory flavor For dessert we got the Chicolate croquet cake. I'm still dreaming about how good it was. It was layered with chocolate, hazelnut, and wafers. Every single bit was amazing. We also got the cheesecake that I didn't really try but heard was good. I was surprised that for all that food, our bill was around $230; which I felt was cheap for the quality and amount of food. I've been dying to try this place out. First off, the decor and ambiance is phenomenal. This is high end restaurant and you can definitely tell. The service is top notch. We had the tableside Caesar salad and the dressing was chef's kiss. We also got the branzino, fruitti di mare, and truffle oil parmesan smashed potatoes. The ingredients are very fresh and you can tell each dish is made with quality ingredients and plated beautifully. The interior is gorgeous, it definitely gets busy so reservations are recommended, and the food is great. For starters, we ordered the meatballs and arancini, both of which were incredible. I decided to try Aurora for a birthday celebration and made a reservation, noting the special occasion. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly, which was a nice start to the evening. The decor was intriguing--featuring a massive mermaid mural that, oddly enough, had more of an Aquaman vibe, which felt somewhat out of place for an upscale restaurant. While the chandeliers and other elements were elegant, the overall aesthetic didn't quite come together cohesively. Our server initially provided attentive service, but it soon became apparent that he was more focused on upselling than on creating an enjoyable dining experience. He asked multiple times if we wanted the Caesar tableside salad, which felt pushy rather than hospitable. As other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant can get quite loud. One particularly enthusiastic guest frequently shouted throughout the meal, detracting from the ambiance. That said, the grilled octopus appetizer was a standout. Achieving a good char while keeping the octopus tender and moist can be tricky, but they nailed it. The tableside bread was enjoyable, though the portion was small, and the server didn't offer more--he simply removed the olive oil and herbs. We ended up requesting more bread with our entrées. Additionally, our table lacked salt and pepper. If a restaurant chooses not to provide basic seasonings, the dishes should be impeccably seasoned, which unfortunately was not the case. The Whitefish Siciliano was disappointing--it lacked flavor, and I had hoped the ammoglio sauce would enhance the dish, but it was equally bland. The breading wasn't crispy, the fish was thin, and the sauce tasted like little more than canned tomatoes mixed with olive oil, missing essential seasonings like garlic, pepper, and salt. On the other hand, the Strozzapreti Norcina, featuring Italian fennel sausage, palomino sauce, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and white truffle oil, was the better of the two meals. The palomino sauce complemented the sausage nicely. Once our meals arrived, service dwindled, and when we needed boxes, we had to wait over ten minutes. I don't mind paying more for fine dining when it's paired with excellent service and high-quality dishes, but Aurora didn't meet those expectations. Also, if a restaurant asks about special occasions when booking a reservation, the least they can do is acknowledge them--neither the hostess nor the server did. read more

I wasn't sure what star I should give them. Let me start off with the good. The service was awesome, absolutely amazing. Our server was attentive and if he missed anything he quickly corrected it. The ambiance is beautiful I love the aesthetics. The food on the other hand was just okay, i had the their Caesar salad it was very good their Caesar dressing is one the best I have tasted.. I ordered their version of chicken parmesan. It was okay but the noodles and sauce were cold but the chicken stole the show: it was tender, I just wish it had sauce on the chicken and not on the side. But my guest enjoyed their meal, they didn't have the struggle of their meal being cold lol. But overall, I'm not sure if I will go back. But it was a very nice experience. read more

The low lighting mixed with the stunning ornamental plants made me feel like I was somewhere in Europe instead of West Bloomfield MI lol. The food was delicious. The cesar salad was ok (the side of anchovies really threw me off), and so were the side of assorted veggies (fingerling potatoes and cauliflower). The burrata was a hit with our entire table, and so was the shrimp diavolo. I wasn't a huge fan of the truffle smashed potatoes, nor the broccolini. The brussels sprouts, however, were great and I would def get them again. The service was fine, but we did have to ask for things a few times before they arrived. This was my second time dining here, and I have to say, what a difference. My first visit which was nearly 8 months ago, left me underwhelmed. This time everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The Pasta Carbone, which I found bland on my first visit, had a real kick this time. Super spicy and packed with flavor. The fettuccine was rich, silky, and perfectly cooked, easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. The fresh bread they brought out was warm and crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. Simple, but done so well. We also had the Caesar salad prepared tableside, which was a great touch. I'm vegetarian, and the staff went above and beyond by making me a separate version from my husbands, without anchovies. That kind of consideration really stood out and made the experience even better. And I can't forget the arancini. It was crispy, cheesy, and served in a sauce that was so good I could've eaten it with a spoon. Every bite of that dish was comforting and indulgent in the best way. This is my third time at the restaurant, but the worst service we've ever had. Our waiter seemed very annoyed when we did not have our order ready within minutes of sitting down. We came here for the Mother's Day brunch and WOW! What a spread. There was an ice sulpture with shrimp and crab claws and muscles. The looong table had the coolest twist on a Caesar salad, antipasto, fish, lasagna, roasted veggies, eggplant parm, then the bar full of starters and desserts. In the other room was a make your own pasta with chef, carving station and one other thing I forgot because of so many other amazing things. Decor is so cool and chic! I just want to start by saying that the ambience is an absolute dream. You can really tell that they put so much effort into all of the decor- I immediately felt like I was stepping into Amalfi. I really enjoyed the colorful accents from the plates to the lemon trees, along with the modern flair. Our server was attentive, but I did feel that we missed a couple marks for a fine dining restaurant. While serving our bottle of wine, she broke the cork and did not offer to get a new bottle. Also, we had a reservation at 7 and did not receive our entrées until 9. We did have the calamari appetizer and bread, both being delicious, but I felt that we weren't compensated for having to wait so long for dinner. The chicken Parmesan and filet were very good. I asked for my filet to be medium rare and I it was closer to medium, but it was tender. I felt that for a place like this, they should have asked me to cut into it when serving. We shared the pasta carbone which was definitely spicy as advertised, but good. I love that they make the pasta in house and I'd want to try a different pasta dish next time. The tiramisu and chocolate cake were rich and delicious. Overall, for the 45 minute drive to get here, the ambience is the biggest highlight. I'll start off by saying when you walk into this place it is very decor all around.. but nonetheless all the tables are at least a foot and a half away from each other when I come to a restaurant like this I wish I was more in a intimate spot compared to right next to another couple so that irritated me a little bit from the start the waiter made me feel a little bit out of place asking for a Coca-Cola. I don't drink whatsoever and this is pretty much all they have to offer besides water. They have a few cocktails and lots of alcohol. We ordered the Caesar salad, the truffle mushroom pizza with truffle fries with tiramisu and the night the Bill was not super crazy. It is a very nice restaurant. I just disliked how close we sat next to other people and how the waiters were all dressed in flight attendant uniform making you feel alittle bit out of place... my opinion my experience everyone is welcome to their own. read more
