I'm not sure what it is , but for some reason the food here has made me sick to my stomach. I'm never coming back here again .

I have to be honest. I've had Aurelio's pizza twice years ago and it was at the bottom of my pizza chain. Didn't care for it at all. Just fell short for me in more ways than one. The only reason I decided to come back was because my guy wanted to try it and although his pizza standards are lower than mine (he's getting better in his defense), my pizza gut told me to go for it - plus, I'm just a really super cool girl ;) We walked in and placed our order to go. Vito behind the counter (yes, Vito is Italian) was as cool as an Italian cucumber. Mellow and friendly - like many Italians can be. We ordered a small thin pepperoni and mushroom. After browsing the menu a little more, I happened to notice Calabrese pizza. I told Vito I was half Calabrese and he said I must try it. 5 words that make me a pushover: "I must try it" and "Calabrese". There's other words too, but I won't get into that now. I decided on the 6" spinach classic, but they offer larger sizes & additional ingredients. Then I asked Vito about their baked clams (I'm a fan) and he recommended these as well. I had a good feeling about Vito... He didn't steer us wrong. The pizza was SO much better this time around. Something about the dough was different. Crusty edges, but softer bite and texture, yet not a doughy or thick crust. Generous and fresh toppings, good amount of cheese and sauce was tasty, if not a little sweet. We both thought it was great. Frankly I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Then again while he had no preconceived notions going in, my expectations were low... The "Calabrese" is a little difficult to describe. Its not a panzerotti. Its not a Calzone. Its not a stuffed pizza. Its not even a pizza puff! Its a delicious soft dough tucked inside with fresh spinach, gooey melted cheese and marinara sauce. You just sink your teeth into each savory soft bite. Dough was great, not heavy or dense. 6" is perfect for one or sharing. I think you should save this for yourself though. Baked clams had a good amount of fresh chopped clams and cooked well, but breading was a little heavy for me. He thought so too. I'm more forgiving with baked clams. As long as I can taste more clam than breading, I'm a happy clam.. Since I've never reviewed Aurelio's before, and if I had, I would have given 2 stars based on my pizza experience years ago. Lucky for them, it was so good they deserve 4 stars. Although we didn't dine in, Vito treated us like a Paisano. 5 stars for Vito alone. This review is for the lunch buffet (every weekday!) which I've been to a couple of times. For the price this is a great deal! Each time I've been there they've had several cold salads, a few hot pasta dishes (fettuccine alfredo & spaghetti w/marinara), a baked/stuffed/rolled chicken dish (had cheese, tomato & spinach inside), grilled sausages w/peppers & onions, 5 kinds of pizza (both thin crust & pan), two kinds of soups and a whole sections of desserts (assortment of cakes, cookies & pastries). All you can eat with a soft drink & tax for under $10! Their location doesn't look like much from the outside but it's nice inside and even has outdoor patio seating. It also doesn't face Lake St. so it's easy to miss. read more

I am moving out of state soon and wanted to have my last Buffet and Take-Out Pizza at Aurelio's. I traveled from Arlington Heights to Addison for some great pizza. I went there today for what I thought was the last time. Well, the Buffet was not as good as other times. The food was not fresh or hot including the entrees and pizza. They have raised the price to $10.59. Not the quality I was used to having there. I do not recommend the Buffet on Mondays. I asked to order a Meatball Pizza to go. I thanked them and said goodbye for what I thought was the last time. Well, I got home and decided to separate the pizza. It was burnt on the bottom and top. There were no meatballs, just burnt hamburger pieces. I called to let them know. And eventually decided to take it back. Another 16-mile. round trip to get my money refunded. They did it immediately after I told them I did not want another pizza just my money refunded. They did charge me for the Buffet which I thought was fair. I was so disappointed in the quality of the food. I guess it was my unlucky day to eat there. I won't be going back for pizza or Buffet even if I was staying in town. I'm down with this pizza place. You've got to be in the mood for this pizza and it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Their thin crust can only be described as greasy, yet crispy, and salty. The perfect party pizza. Pub pizza at its finest. Skip their garlic breads -- they're pretty basic. A+ for quick and easy online ordering! Everyone knows that Chicagoland is deep dish pizza land. In the last ten years or so, the demand for authentic Italian pizza from a wood burning oven has brought a lot of competition, and then there is Aurelio's Pizza, which is somewhere in between. Instead of catering to one or the other, Aurelio's makes a pizza that looks more like other pizzas in the Midwest. The difference, though, is that the pizza here tastes much much better. You can taste it in the ingredients. Aurelio's is definitely a place for families and groups. One Sunday we went out with a group of 12, and four pizzas later, everyone was full and happy with the quality of the meal. We reported a bill of $110 (including tip). The location is clean, and the service is friendly. They do have a bar with the basics on tap, and a few liquors if you want something stronger. You can also order a red or white wine. For the price I would just stick to water or pitchers of soda. The desserts are ok, and they are huge! So if you enjoy desserts, try some here. Enjoy! read more

Five stars on service, two and a half on food. I remember coming here with my parents when I would come home to visit, but I really have no recollection of what I ordered. We came in with the kids for lunch and I was happy to be able to get them Mac and cheese. Husband got pizza and I had shrimp Parmesan - which was a mistake. Way too much sauce and cheese, I should have known better. We also had pizza puffs and fried mushrooms, which were okay, but nothing special. I think I should stick to pizza. read more

The person on the phone was rude and rushing and I didn't understand what she was saying , and slap me with a price that was double than any other high end pizza ... for one pizza with 3 toppings ? Really ? Then she said very rude at my shock at the price : then you can go to the other places ! What a disappointing service ! Maybe they don't deserve new customers! The sauce. That is what sets Aurelio's apart from other pizza places. I'm not good with describing food, but this sauce is different, sweet but still savory for a pizza. You'll have to try it to know what I mean, but it's good. A nice spin on your traditional pizza. read more

I had a taste for pizza and found a $10 coupon online for this place. Drove 10 miles, or about 25 minutes. When I got there, the rude manager refused to accept the coupon, and said it had to be redeemed in Homewood. It said right on the coupon to redeem it at the Addison location. What an a$$hole. UPDATE: We still hold a torch for Aurelio's, as they are literally the best pizza place on the planet, maybe even the galaxy. Anyway, I just have to say that I always feel at home at Aurelio's due to the lady that works there (owns?) I think her name is Maria? She always says Hi and knows what drinks we all order before we sit down. And the nice man who clears away the plates is super sweet! He has seen us come in for years with our son, and watched him grow up....and now that are son is away at ollege, he always asks us "where is the boy?" :D If you have never been to Aurelio's on Lake Street, you are missing out on a gem!!! My family and I LOVE this place. Spinach thin crust with extra sauce is my personal favorite. Gey it!!! I could eat it every day and not tire of it. We go pretty often to the Wednesday or Thursday night buffets. We have gone there so much, that the minute we walk in the door, the host/hostess always says "three for buffet?" :) They remember us, which is nice, because you feel like a part of the big Italian family when dining there. We tend to get Vito, or the guy who looks like his twin, as our waiter. My only problem is that while my husband and son love the buffet, I feel that most of the time the pizza seems like it has been sitting out on the warmers for a long time, and doesn't taste as fantastic as ordering a fresh pizza. Just pick up a 10 inch thin crust cheese & ground beef pizza. It cost me $17.97. It was about $4.00 more than what the Addison location menu shows. The mgr on duty did not have an answer other than the website is outdated. I told him the menu here must be outdated as well. Who is to say the ingredients are not outdated. 5 stars hands down. The lunch buffet is where it's at because you can try a ton of different stuff including sides salads and deserts for a very reasonable price. We also go there for dinner because the pizza is perfect ratio of equal parts crust sauce cheese each one very good. Has a nice sweet taste and perfect for pizza lovers. We usually just get cheese pizza for that reason but I've had others as well and all are amazing. Get the biggest pizza possible so you can have leftovers to fight over!! read more

Wow. I order the thin cheese pizza with no toppings so I can fully enjoy the sauce and cheese combo, no need for interference from even my favorite flavors. This is the best pizza I've ever had. We literally order from here once a week and are never disappointed with the food or the friendly service(on-site and even the delivery drivers)!This location serves some specialty pastas that are incredible. The house salad is top notch accompanied by the perfect dressing and the homemade croutons in the ceasar and buffalo chicken salad are fresh garlicky goodness and they don't skimp on the thick Parmesan shavings. We always treat our friends and family to Aurelio's when they come to visit, just to show off. I can't wait to enjoy the beer garden this summer! Aurelio's we love you. read more

Wonderful pizza and staff. They have the BEST lunch buffet featuring great food and different kinds of their great pizza.

In our continuing efforts to try every pizza place within a 5-mile radius of home, we went with some take-out from Aurelio's. My husband arrived home with a large cheese thin-crust that was a little cool in one corner and had that "cheese has just started to get cold" look about it. (This cannot be blamed on Aurelio's, but rather, Lake St traffic.) And yet it was one of the more delicious thin crusts I have had in recent memory. The crust was crispy around the edges and had a great flavor; the sauce, while just a hair on the sweet side, had plenty of savory to it; and the cheese was delicious, plentiful, and actually broke when you bit into it. (It is a minor pet peeve of mine when you take a bite of pizza and all of the cheese comes with it.) The rest of their menu is large and varied, and I'd like to dine in or at least try an appetizer or two, but honestly, it will be hard to resist the pizza, which is currently up there with Home Run Inn as my favorite thin crust in the area. ===================== 11/1/10: We've now eaten in and tried a few different things. The atmosphere is sort of odd, a mash-up of Chicago history, random old ads, and red-and-white checked stuff. We started with their focaccia appetizer, which was different and delightful -- crispy bread stuffed with cheese and basil and served with a sweet, thick sauce for dipping. We moved on to a stuffed cheese pizza, which probably wouldn't be my first choice again, if only because there wasn't much sauce on it and the top crust got lost and turned into kind of a mess. It was good overall, and I definitely appreciated the "handle" part of the crust, which had a nice light crispiness to it and wasn't overly bready or thick. But I wonder if their version of deep dish has more/chunkier sauce. I'd certainly be willing to eat it again, and try more of their menu, but as far as I'm concerned their thin crust is where it's at. read more

My first experience with the Aurelio's lunch buffet was at the Kankakee location. I get confused down there, so I'm not sure if it was K3/Bourbonais or Manteno. They all kind of blend into an I-57 haze for me. Anyway, I got excited when I found out that the Aurelio's in Addison, just a few minutes away from my job also has the affordable lunch buffet option. But they don't do it as well as the K3 store. They only offered 6 pizzas for selection, and two of them were duplicates. So essentially they had 4 options. And their hot entree options were limited as well. Fortunately, the pizza is still delicious and the service was stellar so I'm only going to knock a single star off this review. I feel that if you run a business under a corporate brand umbrella, your offerings from restaurant to restaurant should be equal in terms of quality and offerings. My server brought me a cute little mini-pitcher of soda so I wouldn't run out of my beverage during my meal. That was a nice touch that I haven't seen many other places. I may return out of location convenience, but if I had my druthers I would only patronize the Kankakee location. read more

This place had a 5-star rating in my book until recently. Their thin crust is still to die for, and they have a great gnocchi with chicken dish. However, I recently took an out-of-town guest here for some deep dish. The crust was so tough, it was difficult to eat. The crust towered high over the sad, flat interior. The toppings were also sparse. My guest actually said, "Giordano's is better." Yikes. Also, the service has taken a dive recently. The staff rarely comes to check on you, which makes it difficult to do things like pay the bill. Oh, Aurelio's, won't you please come back to being one of my favorite places? read more

This restaurant was decent. The stuffed pepperoni pizza was delicious, but it took well over 45 minutes to even get to our table. My brother is allergic to dairy so we ordered him an alternative pizza with no cheese. It came out looking like complete shit and was completely burnt so we demanded a new one. Food was great. However, customer service was not up to par. As my guest and I were waiting to be served, we overheard an employee (which turned out to be the owner) make a comment regarding "the two non tippers". As he nodded over our direction. We knew he was referring to us. We went on with our lunch and brought it up to the staffs attention after we paid. A simple report of a complaint turned into a debate/argument with the owner and his wife Sharon. Apparently tips are mandatory at this restaurant, otherwise prepare to have employees making side comments and not giving you preference while you are there. At least, that's what the owners made clear to us. Is that there workers deserve and earn their tips every single day. I was obviously unaware of the mandatory tip rule. But this would explain the extremely rude behavior of their staff. It's clear that in the server and serving world, tips are earned. If employees aren't offering at the least satisfactory service, a tip should not be warranted. And in my experience there several times, I may have received above and beyond service one of those times. In which a tip was warranted to the server. I will not be dining their again ever again. As a buffet, and I don't mean this is a demeaning way, this is the best food I've had,( accept for maybe Home Run Pizza Buffet ;) But 90% of everything offered on their Buffet is excellent from the Lemon chicken to the Fettuccine Alfredo to the Deep Dish pizza and the steamed vegetables. The service is pretty good (I mean their speedy with drink refills) and for the most part their very friendly! I should order off their menu at some point but for my hour lunch limitation, their buffet is very convenient and their prices are commensurate to the food quality. I just wish a location was closer to work! Definitely wish I didn't have to consider calories when eating here because everything is very rich and scrumptious lol read more

This review is long overdue. My husband and I have come for their dinner buffet (Tues-Thurs.) at least 6 times. It is nothing less than fabulous. Since we come straight from work we usually get here a few minutes before the start of the buffet at 5pm. Even at that time, the salad bar is usually all set up and they have one hot appetizer out. I usually sneak a dessert in, too. They vary the entree offerings so if you come often, you won't be bored with the food. In addition to the pasta and some sort of chicken entree, there are at least 5 or 6 different types of pizza, and a soup and a salad bar. The chopped salad on the salad bar is delicious.All the food is good. I love the dessert table because it reminds me of the dessert tables we had at family gatherings when I was growing up. Little cookies, brownies, cakes, cream puffs. I would describe the food as real, home cooked Italian food. Good job, Aurelios. read more

2 stars for the food, 4 for the service, but i can't give it 3 stars because it wasn't A-Ok. It is hard for me to give 2 stars. Look at my history, but read on. 1) ordered fried ravioli. Some pieces were hot, some were warm, some were cold. But all of them tasted like it was a frozen food dropped into the fryer. I ate it because i was hungry, but honestly, any cold cheese dish made to be eaten hot is just yucky. 2) got their deep dish pizza. it was came out looking so yummy. Took a bite and it was cool. OMG, W-T-FREAK? Is the oven broken? Worried I sent it back hoping no additional ingredients would be added. Came back, the flavor was good, but now the crust is soggy. erghhh? isn't Chicago the pride of deep dish? Word to the business: don't hurry your food. make it worth while. Maybe i should have ordered a pasta dish, but 2 out of 2 dishes coming out disappointing, I can't say much positive but... STAFF was really friendly. Did what they could, but not enough to make up for the lack of food. Thank goodness it was paid for by my company, or it would have been a waste of my money. I just sacrificed a few hundred calories. I was introduced to Aurelio's by some coworkers and instantly liked it. I have issues with the crust though, it could be a little crispier. That aside, the sauce is light flavored, not too heavy and not too oily. The cheese is great, you can tell it's real mozza which is important. They also have a really good pizza buffet for lunch. Most times I am not a fan of any kind of buffet, but this one I absolutely like. Great choice of pizza, soup/salad, pasta dishes and great dessert selection. I used to work in the area and we would hit this lunch buffet when time and waistline would allow. the typical spread: -salad bar (small, but adequate) -4 types of pasta -4-5 entrees (usually meat/fish, sometimes veggies, sometimes both) 4-5 different pizzas (including stuffed and some kind of spinach calzone thingy that is absolutely wonderful) MANY DESERTS!! free drink with meal. we usually paid $10-11 bucks each including tax and tip. one time, I called in sick to work (I wasn't sick) and drove to this buffet anyway cause it's that damn good. read more

Great authentic Chicago pizza! We ordered the Combination which had sausage, mushrooms and peppers. The establishment was clean and the server was nice. My daughter wanted the buffet but since Aurillio's considers her an adult (just turned 10 years old), it would have been $10 for her. Seriously, I think that is too young to pay full price. Most restaurants consider you a child through 12. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for that. read more

So my husband decided to try this place for our Friday pizza night and chose a stuffed spinach and mushroom. I think the mushrooms are canned and that ruined it for me. It is located right around the corner and faces the Marcus movie theaters. There is plenty of parking near their entrance and they have a terrace for outdoor seating. The front entrance is a little small but there is never a wait. I've been there a few times for lunch buffet and dinner. The lunch buffet is a great deal since you don't have to wait and you can get in and out of there pretty quickly. They have a full salad bar with some cold pasta items and then mostly hot pasta specialties. Each of the pastas are different with varying sauces so vegetarians or meaty or cheese preferences are satisfied. There's also a chicken dish and sometimes Italian sausage. The pizzas are in the back and they have their good thin crust with a deep dish specialty added in. There are a couple of soups and a whole table full of desserts. The standard American desserts along with their Italian homemade ones are there for any type of sweet tooth. The prices are good value. They have a pretty vast menu so there's always good reason to go back! read more

Came here for a group luncheon. Now, I do not live too far from here but I have not visited this place in about 10 years for reasons I do not remember. The luncheon was nice. Salad was good. The grilled calamari appetizer was good. Everybody ordered off the menu individually so I can only comment on my entrée. I ordered this spicy Shrimp diavolo over linguini. Guess what? This dish was actually spicy. A lot of places list things as spicy and they're really not but this one was. It was also loaded with fresh tasting shrimp. I enjoyed this dish. I may just have to return to check out other menus items. Service was pretty good considering that there was only one server with a helper for over twenty people. Cheers to all read more
