Did takeout from Elio Pizza on Fire for my Galentine's and it was such a win We ordered the Marinara, Margherita, and the Rockefeller. The Marinara was bold and tomato-forward with great seasoning, the Margherita was fresh and perfectly balanced, and the Rockefeller completely surprised me creamy, savory, and very much giving spinach-dip on pizza in the best way. For takeout, everything held up beautifully. The crust was still crispy and airy, and the quality really came through. Such an easy crowd-pleaser and a great option for hosting. Elio's logo doesn't do justice to what's inside. This place is spacious and serves a good amount more than pizza! Antipasti, bruschetta, salad, paninis, Italian beefs, and desserts! Of course you'll want to come here for the fresh Neapolitan pizza, and there's a wide variety to choose from. Margherita, pesto, funghi, and bufalina are some of the standouts. The wood-fired ovens deliver a good crisp to the edges of the pizza while maintaining a good base. Toppings are aplenty on all the pies. One difference in taste was the pizza dough which didn't have the saltiness that other Neapolitan places have. This stood out to me, but it's purely a taste preference. Service was attentive, and the interior updated and inviting. Very spacious place to host a large group or just get together with a friend or two. If anything, Elio should really update his logo to be more elegant and upscale based on what he's serving up here. read more

There's a certain vibe for Elio, it's warm, relaxed, and welcoming! Elio is a nice family business with large selection of pizzas for red/white/green sauce. We selected one of each and tried out the pizzas as well as some apps, salads and dessert. Food was alright, but the crust is different to most places, it thin, but it sorta melts as you eat it, missing the chewiness you find in most crust. Take it as a preference, I prefer having more chew. Service was excellent, great family owned business, great menu, awesome for large groups - so added more stars for the other stuff. read more

This is the place that I used to go often when it first opened in the old location. They are known for their individual brick oven pizza. This newer location has more parking along the strip mall as well as spacious seating inside and out. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The food that I often order is their brick oven individual pizza. The difference of other types of pizza made is The brick oven's high, even heat contributes to a crispy exterior while maintaining a chewy interior. I usually order the pizza that has mushrooms and sausage, pepperoni, and also prosciutto with fresh arugula. All the flavors were tasty. Of this new location, I've been here twice before late last year and this past weekend and I felt like their dough recipe might have changed. Because it didn't really have a chewy interior texture like all other brick oven, pizzas that I have tried in the area and from their old location. The texture is like a regular pizza dough or pizza that is gluten-free like it fell apart in my mouth not the chewy texture you would get from an oven brick pizza. The topping of flavors are good selections. The mozzarella cheese is good but the dough I was not happy with. Especially the price that you pay for this type of pizza. I have ordered their salads, which are really good great for sharing since it's like a family style size portion. Even if you want grilled chicken, it comes out fresh and hot on top of the salad. You can order alcohol drinks, here like wine and beer. They have two separate rooms. One of them could be for a private party since they have a dividing door. The outdoor dining is located in front of the restaurant, with chairs and table umbrellas, and the view is the parking lot but it's nice. They try to put some fresh flowers around the border of the dining area. I have ordered their muffaletta sandwich twice. I've had better. The Olive salad spread topping was not as much as I hoped for I was expecting like a layer across a sandwich. It was more of a sprinkle. the slices of the deli meat where paper thin the bread itself was dense and thick. If that's the type of sandwich you'd like it's a pretty big sandwich. I've had better flavored sandwiches at other Italian restaurants before. Overall, it's a nice experience to try out but I feel like they changed their dough recipe. Good, good pizza! Have been wanting to try this place for a while. The restaurant feels authentic and has a large dining area. Nina was our server who was kind and attentive. We started off with the bruschetta mix which wasn't my favorite, but still good. We tried the Tonno (tuna), pesto, and pear and Gorgonzola. Time for the pizza! They have such a LARGE selection of pizzas! And all super affordable! My husband ordered the Rustica which was around $13 and I ordered their well known capricciosa, also just $13!! The dough was light and crunchy, but not very doughy. Remember, this isn't true Neapolitan, rather a Sicilian style pizza. Exquisite! Elio's brother use to have an Elio's Pizza restaurant on Lincoln that I ate at w/my wife & sister. Their food was outstanding so needless to say we were very disappointed to learn that they had closed the restaurant on Lincoln. Da 4 of us guyz still get together from time to time for lunch & drinks to catch up up on life. We ordered 4 items and decided to share family style to be able to try more items. We got 2 salads & 2 pizzas * Pecan Salad - Mixed greens, bacon, red cabbage, cherry tomato, shredded cheese, and Dijon vinaigrette. Excellent combination. * Elio Super Salad - Grilled chicken breast, fresh mixed greens, tomato, and special house dressing. * Sausage Pizza - San Marzano pizza sauce, sausage & mozzarella cheese * Bacon Pizza - San Marzano pizza sauce, crispy bacon & mozzarella cheese All their food is cooked fresh & delicious. I went here on a Friday night for the first time because of a recommendation. There were five of us. I didn't know reservations are recommended for a Friday night. The place was packed and Rosanne asked if we had a reservation. I told her we didn't because it was our first time and we didn't know. She asked if we wanted to wait by the bar and she would see what she could do. It was less than 5 minutes and she got us in a smaller table with a 5th chair at the end of the table. That is what you call EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Rosanne went above and beyond to make sure our first experience was comfortable. Our server (Emma) was very sweet and excellent at her job. The food was to die for! The wood burn pizzas, their salads and the meatballs on the polenta were all amazing!!!! All in all, this place is GREAT for food, customer service and pricing! Living in the area of Wood Dale, I am always on the hunt to try somewhere local and support them. I remember trying Elio Pizza a number of years ago and I was not really impressed with the food. However, my biggest complaint was the atmosphere created by the employees. My first interaction felt very cliquey, with preferential treatment given to people they knew instead of new customers. Fast forward to this current summer, I wanted to give this place another try because they've had five years to improve. My first revisit was very nice. I found that their food prices were very reasonable, and the flavor of the food had also improved. Our waitress at the time seemed very nice. I was excited because this could be my new local eatery that I would frequent often. Fast forward a couple of days later, we decided to dine there again. The waitstaff was all young people, mainly women. The atmosphere had now changed. Everyone was goofing off or on their phones, with no attention to the customers. It felt like a high school hangout for the staff. The owner was there, but I did not catch his name. He stopped at a table to say hello but did not come to ours, even though he looked at us multiple times. He was the person who told us to sit anywhere when we walked in, yet he made no attempt to introduce himself. This was my third attempt to give them another shot. The service was awful. The owner was running around with someone who appeared to be doing some sort of construction. He walked up to one or two tables to say hello, but again, he looked at our table and did not decide to say hello to us. Our waitress never came back for refills. I had to flag them down to get the bill and ask for a refill--basic stuff in a restaurant. This was my last visit. I tried to give them one more shot, making it my fourth time within a month. There were only two other tables in the restaurant. A young waitress came up to us and asked if we were ready to order before we even sat down. I told her we would like an iced tea. Before I could also request some water, she had already taken off. She came back one minute later and asked if we were ready to order. Luckily, since we had been there before, we knew what we wanted. She took our order and immediately ran away; this was the last time I saw our waitress. The entire staff was goofing off. The table next to me also looked annoyed, with one person asking his partner where the waitress was. There was a girl who I assumed was a manager, serving tables with a Starbucks cup in her hand, chatting with one of the cooks, and ignoring the customers. My family ran a restaurant for over 20 years. We know how important it is to greet all of your customers and treat them like family. It doesn't matter if the restaurant is dead; that is when you should treat customers even better and give them more attention. I sat for 20 minutes, sucking on ice cubes with my wife. I could not take it anymore. I went up to the front counter and asked for our bill. I complained that we had been sitting there without any service. Could we please get a to-go box? She apologized and took five dollars off our bill. At this point, it does not matter. I will never come back here. This place does not value customers. Their food is decent, but it's a shame. The owner has zero desire to befriend new customers. I will not be returning to this place. Maybe I'll check them out in another five years if they are still around. As I always say, check this place out for yourself. For me, this is a big no. I don't care if the food is excellent and they are giving it away. If you have horrible waitstaff and customer service, I will not come back to your restaurant. read more

Their Neopolitan-style pizza is excellent. Don't be coming here expecting an American style pizza because you're going to be disappointed. Their ingredients are fresh, their pizza's are cooked in wood-fired oven, the crust is light, thin, soft and chewy, has some charred spots here and there. I ordered their Capriocciosa pizza which was topped with fresh plum tomato, ham, olives, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, and mozzarella. Eat it while it's hot! That Capriocciosa pizza was flavorsome!!! Pesto bruschetta: They have a wide selection of bruschetta to choose from which I love! We chose the pesto one. Comes presented on a wooden board - 5/5 presentation. Comes with pesto, fresh mozzarella and a cherry tomato. All ingredients tasted so fresh, everything just melts in your mouth perfectly. Definitely a good way to start a meal. Bufalina: I saw buffalo mozzarella on the menu and I was intrigued so I had to try. So delicious! The quality of the mozzarella itself was very good but to add a little kick of buffalo spiciness? Amazing and definitely unique in my opinion. The cheese did make the pizza very flimsy and moist but it was still very delicious. I like to mix olive oil and Parmesan cheese and dip my crust in it too! Tiramisu: This was pretty good but I've had way better tiramisu. Not around the corner from me, but definitely worth the drive. The pizza crust is the perfect amount of thin and fluffy with a slight sweetness to the dough. The crust is beautifully crispy and yet tender! Tonight we had the bruschetta mix which is a choice of 3 different bruschetta of our choosing. We tried the traditional, the caponata, and the Rockefeller. I really liked the Rockefeller which is a nice combination of spinach, Swiss and Asiago cheese. We ordered the Mediterranea Salad and it was so pretty. The salad was dressed well with just the right amount of sun-dried tomatoes and Kalamata Olives. I am not a personal fan of olives, but these had some really nice flavor to them. The pizza we ordered a traditional Margherita which was with a red sauce and the Biancaneve which is with a white sauce. Even though the ingredients were similar they tasted completely different and so good! I wish there was more cheese on both pizzas. They seemed weirdly dispersed so some slices only had a few 1/2 pieces. They do use fresh mozzarella in both these pizzas so don't expect to have that cheesy pull of shredded mozzarella. We sat in the side room which had a big screen on one side and there were music videos being played. Since the restaurant wasn't very crowded the music seemed really loud making it a bit hard to have a conversation. We were seated at the far end of the room, close to the restrooms and the music was still loud. The service was spot on. Our server checked back often, she gave us time to look over the menu and she didn't rush us as we were thinking about each course. Next time we will have to try dessert.
