So then I went to the internet machine to do regular searches on just that... and they confirmed the YouTube peoples opinions. So how does one dye like a professional stylist. You gotta get professional products Specifically - developer - permanent hair dye -... and booster ? Also a bowl and a brush and gloves if you don't have them. So I went to the Sally's in Tyson's area and they were out of the specific color I wanted in the dye brand I wanted. Professional hair dye is rated on a 1-10 scale. 1 being the darkest and 10 being the lightest. I was going for darker My hairstylist dyed my hair a 5... but all hair dye apparently lightens after a month or so. So I liked it a lot when it was just dyed... but then it faded to a lighter color which I didn't like as much. In any event. I went with a mix of a 4nn, 5nn, and a developer. I opted for the more natural hair dye called Inspired by nature. It was without ammonia. Apparently the nn means it penetrates the hair follicle a bit more. And the developer I used was a 20 level. So... I dyed it myself last night... Shockingly after about 20 minutes of the hair dye in... my hair was turning pretty darn dark. And also this tar like substance start appearing on my scalp.... I think I put in too much dye. Like I said... "amateur colorist". So then I freaked out and washed it out immediately. Hoping I just didn't dye my entire scalp dark dark brown. Lucky me! It worked! And it worked well. Big reveal at the Yelpies tomorrow ;) In any event, I gave this Sally's 5 stars cause the woman there was the most helpful ever. She asked if I needed any help and I instinctively was like... no I'm good... and then I was like... actually one question. Then I asked that question followed up by another... by another... by another. I was like... I must seem crazy cause I just said I didn't need any help... yet I needed ALL the help. The woman had short pinkish hair and was so pleasant and ready to assist. I even asked her about the sample pieces of hair they had and her opinion on dying my hair - mix of 4 and 5 or just 4. I was thinking just 4 and she like my hairstylist agreed it should be a mix ... or like a 4.5. Would go back here. Would seek her help again. Definitely a great customer experience all around.

This is a wonderful salon. Being introduced to Barbara over 20 years ago because someone else wasn't available changed my life. She actually sits down with you when you first meet, finds out what you like and will offer suggestions. She knows exactly how to fix anything that someone else screwed up. She knows what looks good with your face shape and will tell you. She can combine what you want with what actually looks best on you. I usually let her do what she wants because it is always perfect. I get so many compliments on my hair after she has cut it. Also, I recommended several others and they get compliments too!!! Simi is also very good when it comes to eyebrows. Last week was my first visit to Aurelia, because I followed my stylist, Judy, there. The salon is really beautiful, luxurious and very modern, and reminds me of a high end resort spa. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and simply want their customers to have a wonderful experience, which is exactly what I experienced! I walked in off the street one snowy January and have been going to Margy (the owner) since then. She knows how to cut my hair so that it needs no additional attention or products for the next 6-8 weeks. I often get compliments the day before getting it cut, it still has that much style. When she colors my hair, she blends the colors so that it looks completely natural and not obviously colored. There is an ATM located inside as well just in case you forget cash to tip! All payments are made through your stylist not the front desk. The woman who saw me (younger of the two) asked what I wanted, I responded and she started to work on my brows. From the second she put the thread on my skin it was painful and I felt like my eyebrows were being ripped off and bleeding. Later I saw that I did have a scar and bruise above my eyes. It felt like she was bitter and purposely putting all her anger into ripping my eyebrow hair out. That's how bad the pain was. Disclaimer here, I am from a similar area of the world where I also get my eyebrows threaded and NO, I am not some sissy person who is new to threading. My mother was a professional threader and I've had my eyebrows touched by BOTH novices and experts and I NEVER had any pain like this. I am very thick skinned and my pain tolerance is high but this threading stop in the salon run by these two Indian women....go somewhere else. I don't want to shit on the other salons in here and I will probably go here to try another salon but the threading...NO. Just full stop. She was rude too. Initially I went to the front door where the big sign is and it was locked so I called Marcela. The salon is in Suite #202 towards the left end of the building. There is a note to call or text your service provider upon arrival. When I entered, Marcela was waiting for me at the front desk. Marcela was so friendly and personable. We talked about just about everything and it made the time go by fast. She assessed my hair and suggested an Olaplex conditioning treatment for an additional $30. I always thought my hair was coarse, but she informed me that my hair is fine, but frizzy. I used to have thick hair, but it has thinned out dramatically over the years. She asked how many inches I wanted cut off and what style. Previously I had long layers and it was in a v shape. My hair is so fine that the ends looked stringy and sparse. I never look at the back of my head so didn't know how bad my hair looked until a photo was taken a few months ago. We decided that I should do only slight layers. I had about three inches cut off. After my cut, Marcela blow dried my hair and flat ironed it for an additional $10. She informed me that a regular haircut is $45. She also suggested a Keratin treatment for $240 as that would last for about 3-6 months and I wouldn't need to flat iron my hair everyday, which is damaging my hair from all the heat. I have heard mixed reviews about the Keratin treatment so decided to book an appt for next month and in the meantime research to see if there are any side effects from the formaldehyde, which is often in them. It will be worth every dollar to have straight and silky hair for a few months. Very happy to have a new dependable stylist. My hair was so silky and sleek. I was ready for date night.

She spent a significant amount of time talking with me about what I wanted and how my hair handles the humidity, etc., so that she could make recommendations. It's difficult to find a stylist for medium/short hair and she rocks! She checked in with me every step of the way on the cut and the color to make sure we were seeing things eye to eye. She made recommendations that were specific to my hair type and style. I took her recommendations and I'm glad I did! I haven't had a really sassy shortish haircut for a long time and I'm so glad I found her. She offered to do some fun and dramatic layering and coloring and it's awesome. She took the time to understand how daring I wanted to be and to customize my cut and color. I drove all the way from Alexandria, VA to Rockville, MD because I heard she was good -- and she is! It is worth the drive! Really glad I discovered Naz and Oxygen. I also noticed all the other clients seemed happy, they all knew Naz, and their hair also rocked. I highly recommend this salon.

I had a cezanne treatment. At my initial interview, I was told the price was 375 for the first time…read moreand 400 thereafter because of the length of my hair which is a little below my shoulders. When I went to pay, the hairdresser insisted it was 400. I did not argue. I had to instruct the hair dresser to Thoroughly dry my hair before applying the solution. He had the dryer very close to my hair risking damage to it to speed up the drying process. The airflow was very hot. About a half a week after the process, I noticed that my roots were still curly. With the tip, the service cost me about 480. My hair is still difficult to deal with. When wet, it is hard to get a brush through it to blow dry. The brush does not glide through the hair even though I used a good conditioner. I am very disappointed.

I had a great first experience! I was a walk in Sunday afternoon to get corn rows for crochet…read morebraids. Was immediately seen by a wonderful braider at the front desk who completed my braids very quickly. Very convenient location and hours. I will definitely be back.
