My brother noticed that a restaurant called Pollo Campero (rustic in Spanish) was ranked #2 for…read morefast food chicken chains in USA Today's 10Best list. Since it was close by our hotel, we took a walk there for dinner: two chicken restaurants for consecutive meals was probably too much. Pollo Campero is primarily a Central American fried chicken chain, with 350 locations worldwide. It was originally founded in 1971 in Guatamala. They are currently in a rapid expansion in the U.S., with this location being one of a dozen in Florida. The state with the most is California, and I'll have to look out for them when back home. You order and pay up front, just like a fast food restaurant. But the food was delivered on real plates and metal utensils to our table once ready and it came very fast. 4 piece Fried chicken with campero beans and campero rice ($15) - I thought the fried chicken was OK. It did come with a dippable campero sauce, a mayo based sauce with spices. The rice was decent, but wish the beans were a bit different than the standard tasteless pinto beans. Campero sandwich ($7.60) - version of a chicken sandwich. Good brioche bun, and a decently juicy fried chicken breast. Campero Bowl ($12.40) - wasn't very good and ended up being very dry. The grape tomatoes were mushy and not edible, and the greens were limp. The fried chicken on top didn't really add much flavor, and the rice was dry with the pinto beans being the same. I did like the avocado chunk along with the corn salad. Individual empanada ($3.10) - small, very thin crust. The filling was tasty but there wasn't much of it. It has a self serve soda machine with Pepsi products. Since the plates were reusable, assumed that they would bus.

I've had pollo campero before. Happy to see they are opening more locations…read more Got the 4 piece crispy with rice and Mac. For the price, they could definitely step their game up on the sides. Unfortunately not worth the money for a fast food place. You get more portion on sides when you go to a mom and pop shop. Not sure why they are so stingy. Everything however was extremely delicious. But for the price, I don't think I would come often.

New location on University in Davie. They have some amazing food so far…read more I use the pick up option from there site. Great rewards program that os realistic and reasonable. Also reasonable price points for a combo sub to quick pick up for you or the kids. I also had the Mexican Street corn chicken sub ( not pictured) which was surprisingly good. The pictures do not show well, but one try and you will agree. Only con is the pick up location is public for anyone to grab. There is no monitoring which is what happened to me. Guy grabbed my bag (only bag there) and I had to stop him. Could have been an accident but not a coincidence it was by itself. Staff always greets so far (there 2 times)

Honestly I can't remember the name of the sandwich I had - but it was very good. It was combo of meats - salami ham roast beef and turkey. I had provolone instead of Swiss. You get a choice of dressings and I got garlic aioli. They have long sliced pickles (yum) so they stayed nicely on my sandwich. I opted for a bottle soda. My husband got a refillable fountain soda and a side of Mac&cheese. It was nice and hot and tasty. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. They have inside and outside seating. All in all we enjoyed it and will return. Don't forget to download their app for rewards.

Where do I start? Raising Cane's has had a lot of hype since coming to SoFlo and came highly…read morerecommended as a go-to spot for chicken. It's a fast-food concept that keeps things very simple with a limited menu: chicken tenders, fries, and a sandwich. We tried the 4 Chicken Fingers combo with crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and the recommended Arnold Palmer, sweet tea mixed with lemonade which was refreshing and enjoyable. My favorites were definitely the Texas toast and the coleslaw. The toast was lightly crisp with a buttery garlic finish that made it easy to enjoy. The coleslaw was fresh with a nice crunch and well-balanced creamy without being overly tangy or sweet. The chicken itself was tender but fairly mild. It was okay on its own and really relies on the sauce to bring the flavor together. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, with self-serve fountain drinks and tea, and lemonade available at the counter. Service was prompt, location clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, it was okay. Sometimes simple works and sometimes it's just that: simple. Where food meets adventure, see you back at the table! IG: @shallonztable Review #3

Their menu is small, which we actually appreciate because they focus on doing a few things really well. The chicken tenders are perfectly crispy with great seasoning and flavor. The matchstick fries are always crispy too, not too thick or heavy. Meals come with coleslaw and Texas toast, and both are delicious additions. Their signature sauce is a must. I'm not sure what's in it, but it's so good and pairs perfectly with everything. This location is a bit more tight, the parking lot and drive through area. However it is manageable - just a bit more traffic than some other locations we have been too. Service was good and restaurant was clean inside!
