For a specialty shop, precision is key, and I really hope the kitchen can get back to their usual high standards. As who love macaron, I know macaron is flat, inconsistent in size, and lacks filling, it usually points to rushed production or issues with macaronage (the critical folding process of the batter). A soft, gooey shell instead of a crisp, delicate crust means they either skipped the necessary drying phase before baking, underbaked them, or over-matured them in a humid environment. When we asked how long on the next cheese pizza, the server shrugged his shoulders and just replied he didn't know. Once you are finished with your plate, there wasn't a location to place your used plates. There were tables with 4 people and a stack of plates at least 5-10 high. Spills around the soft drink area were not being cleaned up. We noticed several people almost slip. I do not know who trained the staff but they definitely needed more training and someone keeping an eye on them. They had employees just walking around checking their cell phones rather than cleaning up. Maybe it will get better with time, but I'm doubtful as the management did not seem interested in their employees, product or cleanliness. Spending $40+ on mediocre pizza for 2 people is something we won't be repeating anytime soon.

The outlets were not very busy as it was getting on in the evening, but my sandwich, "The Italian", was loaded with cold cuts including ham and salami pressed between two fluffy, toasted slabs of tender white bread. While not haute cuisine, it was exactly what I wanted and very well executed. I would love to sample some of the other items on the menu on my next trip through Cincinnati. Recommended.
