We stopped in here after doing some sightseeing in Ottawa on empty stomachs and needing some good eats. We were promptly greeted and seated in their outdoor area in the shade which was good because it was quite a warm day. It did take some time for them to come and get our drink and food order, and the place didnt seem overly busy. Food was of decent quality. I got an Irish cider to drink which was tasty. We had to try the poutine ofcourse as we were visiting Canada and it didnt disappoint. Overall for a party of 3 we spent just over $100 USD.
Service on the slower side Kind of overpriced $24 Bangers & mash not good It's sausage patty instead of links- hardly any gravy, mushrooms, & onions Mashed potatoes weren't great Caesar was great Nice view
It was Canada Day! A place to hang with friends, listen to good music, good food and cold drinks was on the menu, unfortunately The Dub failed to deliver. This comes down to a know your customers. They failed. It wasn't the food, service or drinks. It was the live band. At around 4:00pm the band started. It was loud - absurdly loud for the time. The first table closest to the stage left within minutes - table full of drinks left behind. We were the second table and asked if it could be turned down a bit (one man left the washroom with his fingers in his ears). We were told the manager said "some people like it". Note to the manager and owners - when the music drives out customers who can't hear / talk to each other instead of bringing them in, may be an opportunity to listen to the customer and not the band. You're losing money, we would have stayed for hours, it's a great place.

This time is Aulde Ďebliner. It's a part of the Heart & Crown pub group. We've been to Heart & Crown before so a bit hesitant at first but once we learned that Aulde Debliner has several local craft beer on tap, we got motivated to try! Many pubs in Byward do not have much craft beer selection, usually they stay with classic ones like Bud, Keith etc.... but here was a bit different. We had - Beyond the Pale Co. IPA - Dominion City Sunsplit IPA - Sangria - Cheese Burger - Chicken Curry with rice - Poutine Beer was both good, served promptly with right temperature . Sangria was just OK. Burger was a bit dry. Super average. Poutine was the same, nothing stands out. Curry was... spicy but rice was a bit soggy.... Overall, no matter how busy this place was, how delayed some items were, and in spite of the so so food, everything turned into pleasant, thanks to the person who attended our table. She checked in with us when food was delayed, giving us updates. Charming with pleasant smile with great knowledge of each drink. Thanks for the positive feeling !
This pub is at a good location (in a popular part of Ottawa) and is convenient to get to (because it's near the big mall and Byward Market)! It has a variety of seating (indoor, outdoor, balcony) and is always filled with people! We went for lunch one day and sat inside. Food came pretty quickly and our server was helpful. The Irish whiskey stew was really yummy and so filling. It was so flavorful and the crostinis were the perfect addition! I thought it wouldn't be enough food, but it's more filling than it looks! My friends got the fish & chips which were huge portions. The chips here are on the thicker side so they're less crunchy, but still yummy! Overall, this is a yummy and safe place to go if you're looking for a meal in the area! (Just dont sit outside too close to the main walkway, because there's some homeless people who hang out right outside the restaurant by the tables during the day)
This was a great little pub with a cool interior...lots of great seating options (especially in the summer...sitting up top and seeing the whole square!). Service was fantastic, our server was super nice and made some great recommendations. I had the fish and chips, and it was tasty! I recommend ordering the chips well done - nothing beats super crispy fries! The fish was a nice big portion, not too greasy and the batter was amazingly crispy. I tried a bite of the curry chicken as well, and that also seemed like a winner. I definitely want to come back in warmer weather to sit outside, maybe see some live music!
The BEST people watching spot in the market...ok and the food and drink is just as awesome! Our go-to spot for the amazing patio (upstairs is the best), and staff have always been on their a-game. A true pub experience. The food is served fresh, hot and they have the best fries! Get the nachos....ALWAYS get the nachos! We love it here, hope you will too, and will continue to come back!
We were a group for dinner. Great looking dining room. Felt like an Irish pub. We split a poutine and dumplings as appetizers. All very good. The mains were brazed short ribs and the fish n chips. All excellent. Awesome service from the young lady. The only short coming was the fatty ribs. Everything else was great
My go to pub whenever I'm in Ottawa. The service is good and there's usually hockey or other sports on the TVs. The poutine is very good. On my last visit, I had the Hairy Larry Ceaser which was delicious, and my husband had a nicely made espresso martini. I have enjoyed the burgers here several times as well. The atmosphere inside is cozy, and the outdoor spaces are lovely when it's warm out. I hope to return again soon!
The service was terrible the server looked like she hated her job. She didn't even introduce herself. This wouldn't have been a problem if the food was good, but it was terrible as well. The wrap I got looked like it was purchased at a grocery store and it tasted like it as well. Hailey P. do better next time. My group ended up leaving and going to another place, where we ended up have a great end to our night. I would not recommend coming here. The service was bad and the food was expensive, it would have maybe evened out if the service was good as well but as my review has said, it was not. Please save your time and pick somewhere else, don't waste your time.
A nice place in the heart of Byward Market in Ottawa. Great for outdoor dining with heat lamps for chilly nights. Typical pub with the downstairs washrooms, but pleasantly well lit, modern and clean! Menu was limited, but we did have some unique meals. Chicken curry and duck stew. Delicious! Beavertails stand a stone throw away and perfect for dessert afterwards.
Wack. They are getting away with high prices and mediocre food because of its location and cool upper balcony overseeing the byward market. Really that was the only reason why we came. Had the ceaser salad and salmon. Cesar was one of the worst I've had. Cheaply made with only iceberg lettuce. I paid $9 extra for a piece of salmon and was quite possibly the smallest salmon portion I've ever seen at a restaurant. My husband had the fish and chips. Only saving grace was that this meal was actually decent and this review has 2 stars because of it. However for a $19 meal they included such few fries that we had to promptly notify our server who took care of us. I'm not a picky patron by any means (check my other reviews) but with so many other competing restaurants in the area, this place really needs to invest in the simple things to step their game up. Def won't be back as I doubt there will be incentive to change given their prime location in the market but be forewarned that you will likely leave feeling ripped off.
Ate here for dinner on our last night in Ottawa. We all had drinks and had the Pierogies for an appetizer. Loved them. For dinner we had spicy chicken curry, poutine and bangers and mash. Everything was delicious and our server was very attentive. Chatted with us a little bit and was very friendly.
I had a craving for fish & chips and Aulde Dubliner was where I chose to fill that need. Good choice. First $24 you get a large piece of Nova Scotia Haddock and delish crispy chips. I liked the fact that it wasn't a piece of fish with a ridiculously thick batter. It was delish and will return next time I return to Ottawa. There is a good beer selection to choose from. I enjoyed the setting situated between ByWard Market and Rideau Centre. Great place to grab a bite while shopping. read more

Had a great experience here. We watched a Canadian world cup game here, which was packed with great people. Food was good, great pint of draught Guinness and staff were very friendly! A great place to have a long lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We will be back on our return to Ottawa. read more

Ate here for dinner on our last night in Ottawa. We all had drinks and had the Pierogies for an appetizer. Loved them. For dinner we had spicy chicken curry, poutine and bangers and mash. I have been coming to the Aulde Dubliner for many years. The menu has downsized in recent years, but they still have a good variety on there. The service is always very friendly and helpful, and never made me feel like a burden when I ask about allergy friendly foods. They have 2 levels to choose from for seating, and a patio. I went with the Dub Club and soup and was not disappointed. It's made with real chicken breast, not shaved meat which was good. My partner went with the mushroom burger and it was so tasty!! The fries here are thick cut and cut perfectly. Not pictured is my sisters fish and chips, the fish is huge, and comes with a side of tartar sauce, I'm told it's really tasty, but I think fish is disgusting so I can't tell you. But from my fish eating friends, it is one of the best in the city. So if you're in the market and looking for a place to eat, that's moderately priced (20+ a person) then give the Aulde Dubliner a shot. read more

Overall: Touristy spot with absolutely fantastic view of the market. Come for drinks, eat if you must. Food: I wasn't crazy about the food. We tried the spinach chicken wrap with garden salad and the fish and chips. The wrap was ok, nothing to write home about. The salad was messily put together and drenched in dressing. The fries were really good albeit salty and the fish was not bad, big portion but a bit oily. Drink: They have the standard pub drinks with some local beers like beaus and mill street. This place really is an awesome spot to people watch while taking in the sun on their upstairs patio Service: Our server was really fast and decently friendly. She didn't seem enthusiastic nor poor spirited she was just ... normal. Overall though she was prompt and that's good enough for me Atmosphere: on the inside your standard pub, the real draw here in the wrap around patio upstairs. The only negative is the eclectic street people constantly begging and screaming but that's expected in the market and nothing to do with the restaurant. Price: It seems all the restaurants in the market are hitting the $16-$20 minimum point for pretty standard food and this place is no different. I would have given a higher review if the prices were a few $$$ lower but it is what it is. Pro-tip: Regardless of the place always ask for dressing on the side. Also the best most sunny spots on the patio are at the front. read more

Love this place is beautiful inside and out!!! We just went for drinks and it was good, but they had live music and the guy singing was amazing I really enjoy listening to him and having a drink!!!! If you are in Ottawa stop by this place is pretty cool!! read more

Nothing like a great pub for drinks and apps. Although I believe this one is more of a gastro pub, the appetizers to entrees are. True delight. They have live musicians, but the performance is subject to opinion. Bon apetite, you will enjoy. read more

Went here for supper with my cousins last night that are from rock land, I'm visiting from Alberta. Really nice pub/eatery with nice interior features and a lovely downstairs/upstairs patio. A cool place in the heart of downtown that fer serves a good review. Great dub club sandwich and a couple stuff yummy vodka crans. Only downside was the price of food here, a little on the high side. Good quality though. read more

My hubbie, sister, daughter and I stopped by here for an unplanned Friday pint and though I had been there before, this time around was a totally different experience. The other times had been mainly for eats and it was what you would expect- traditional pub fare also we had always been seated downstairs. So we were pleasantly surprised when we were seated upstairs at a table near a cosy fireplace with a great view over the byward market. Granted being in a pub with our two year old (not my proudest moment as a parent) was a big part of why our experience differed from past visits but the service was great and my sister and I were able to get our fave, Magners cider (note: not served with ice as it is in Ireland) The funniest moment though had to be when the server offered to get my daughter some water and then wandered off to the bar with her pink sippy cup sitting proudly atop the drink tray! read more

Surprisingly, for a place better known for its beer and nightlife, Aulde Dubliner offers really great breakfast fare, too. We passed by this morning, saw a sign that said "Enjoy Irish breakfast with us" and we did! The eggs benedict was great, cooked exactly the way you want it, with the perfect serving of hollandaise sauce poured peameal bacon and Irish muffin. The bytown breakfast (eggs, ham/sausage/bacon, homefries) was good, too. What stopped me from giving 5 stars was the very looooong wait. It was a busy morning so we waited at least 45 minutes to be served. If the food was mediocre we would have gotten VERY upset but as it were it was great and was worth the wait. And $25 for 2 people is not bad for a Byward Market location, either. read more

Food - Deep fried pickles were great, no complaints - Bison burger was great with the animal fries - don't expect a lot of toppings on the fries because they only put enough for the top layer - Fish and chips...no complaints and great size Drinks - beer selection was plenty for the Irish pub - tequila section was good too Service - Got seated right away - The place was packed the entire time and the food still came out hot - The food did take a little longer to come out, but that's because there wasn't an empty seat in the house - Staff was very informative of their menu and always regularly came to check up on us Atmosphere - Located in the Byward market - Patio is great because you see all the street entertainment - Would try upstairs next time to get the view of the market - The staff also provided tourist recommendations which was very helpful read more
