But, I specifically want to shout out Coach Matt for his swimming instruction. I'm an adult and learned to swim as a child. However, I had some negative experiences with water in later years and wanted to conquer that and learn how to swim laps. Matt has been an amazing teacher; very patient, kind, and explains things in a way that make sense to my brain. It's clear he has a lot of knowledge and his demeanor put me at ease--both to try conquering my apprehensions about swimming and also to ask any question I wanted. I often got to my lessons early and got to see Matt working with other students, both children and adults. It's clear others also appreciate working with him. One mother told me her daughter was afraid to put her head under water before Coach Matt, and we watched as her daughter now leapt into the deep end with a smile on her face! I was only in Augusta for a few months, but if I return, I will definitely be trying to get a few more lessons in with Matt.

One of the guard that look like a Ken barbie doll with his blonde hair was being real petty and a lil racist to me when he kept blowing the whistle at my 10 9 and 8 year old about running which 1 time was true I was there looking right at them but the other 6 7 times he was really being funny and petty because he seen me paying attention to him the whole time. And than he was feeling some type of way because my kids wanted their ball back from a boy who was being a ball hog and not sharing. I feel he had a issue with me n my kids because as I kept looking at him he was staring my daughter them down with a mean mug on his face. My experiences here has really been unsatisfied. I think I'm just going to go with the Family Y and get a membership there. Because the kroc center has been showing me unsatisfied actions and experiences since I became a member there. They need to do better. Also today water was a little okay but majority of the times I went there to swim the water had too much chlorine in it that my eyes were burning everytime water hit my face.

My daughter loved this place so much that she wants her birthday here next year, which I'm very tempted to do, so we'll see. There's so much to do and jump on that you can't get bored at all. The food is yummy, too. The service was great. They have little scavenger hunt games, and my daughter actually found one and got a slushie as her prize, which she was excited about and enjoyed it all. I definitely recommend this place to everyone young and old. They have massage chairs if you want to just relax, lol.

This is great for those of us on a budget. The pro is very friendly and they over many clinics during the week. They have both ladies' and mens' nights round robin play. The pro shop inside sells drinks and racquets, balls, mostly basic things. It's not like some of the private clubs that have tons on merchandise. The pro shop is elevated in the middle of all the courts, and has a large wrap around porch. It's nice to be able to see what's going on from that vantage point. As a tennis player I don't love some of the courts that back up to Wrightsboro Rd. The traffic is noisy, and makes it hard to hear scores and other calls. Daniel Field is across the street as well, and occasionally you get a plane landing or taking off during match play. I've found that every tennis facility has its own noise issues. You get past it and keep playing. A couple local high schools have matches here as well as the local college. Newman hosts lots of tournaments so if you are just looking to see some great tennis you maybe in luck.

My only complaint is the height of the fence surrounding the court: its slightly short, and we lost several balls over the top and into the woods. Great club! They organize and host the annual Head of the South, one of the largest regattas in the…read morenation. HOTS was well ran, with plenty of porter potties for both athletes and spectators. As for parking, I do recommend arriving early, since you may have to park far down on the grass. There was also a good amount of green space to set up a tent for our club and plenty of rowing and food vendors to browse and purchase from. A cool fact, the Savannah River they row on is Georgia on one side, where the club is located, and South Carolina on the opposite bank.

I went to check out this place with minimal rowing experience (aka Boy Scout camp and what I've…read moreseen on television). I was ready to be intimidated, but thankfully the exact opposite happened. It is off 5th Street, but you have to go back a little ways to get to the actual location. The building is deceiving in size, as you will find out soon enough. In the bottom are where the different sized row boats are stored. As a member, this is where you get to store your boat and oars. Then there is a gym and row machine. The gym area looks out over Savannah River, which is a beautiful view. The row machine is great for teaching one how to learn to row in sync (I soon learned I needed more practice in that area). You have a second floor where there is a dining area (available for rental by Club members) looking over the river and a balcony. The point person walked me through not only the location, but the overall experience rowing. It was also interesting to learn that the 1996 US Olympic Row Team trained here. My lack of knowledge in this area was not held against me and I hope to join in the new year. *Insider's Tip -If you are new to the world of rowing, go to a intro day. They do them once or twice a year and it is a great first step into this. -Also, once you pass a certain level of training you can come on your own whenever you want. That's any day and any time. Were all adults and I get that some people are more experienced than others when I comes to handling a firearm but this is an outdoor range for crying out loud and one of the only 2 public ranges in the area. Do better Shooters its been this way for far too long and its time for a change.
