Maybe you're new to the area or just haven't had a reason to come in contact with this organization…read moreso let me share this tidbit from their website. "We provide quality food and groceries to hungry individuals across our 30 county service area. Since 1982, we've distributed more than 250 million pounds of food and fed more than 14 million people." So why am I talking about them? Because I recently had the privilege of volunteering at their food bank. "Bank" should honestly be replaced with "warehouse" because that is exactly what it is. They have boxes for food and drinks coming in (by the pallet) and boxes ready to sort then boxes that have been packed up and ready to ship across the region. And this place is systemic. You have a job and they show you how to do that job as well as be available for questions. I have served at and taken groups to a number of food warehouses and soup kitchens throughout my life. This, by far, is one of the best organized ones I have encountered. The instructions will tell you, but let me say it again. Wear comfortable shoes and comfortable clothes. Prepare to sweat and know that you may have to lift up to 20 pounds. Feeding people isn't always easy, but it is always worth it. Find a way to support. *Insider's Tip -Volunteer either at the Food Bank or the Master's Table (a once-a-day meal providing location downtown). But there is a process so check out the website for instructions.

Please DO NOT send your loved ones here if you care about them. I am constantly on the phone with…read moremy partner who has been there for 3 months and I've heard not only the staff that works in the office but the house "mothers" talk to her and other residents Like they are CRIMINALS. They are not professional AT ALL. 90% of their staff are ghetto and treat these poor women that are trying to get help like CRAP. I've heard them snap on her for the smallest things like asking about being on the grocery list to asking about her getting her papers signed. I'm talking about complete cussing and yelling at her infront of other residents embarrassing her to the point of crying. She is afraid to let the director know because others have reported this same problem and it seems like all of them stick together and lie for each other. And that isn't the only biggest issue on the staff, there is another nightmare that has been addressed MULTIPLE TIMES and has BeenVerified looked. One of the older house mothers that work here has been caught taking the blankets off these women that are undressed and ASLEEP in their beds at night and she will stand over them and just STARE AT THEM. She has touched residents and made inappropriate comments as well. THIS IS SICK. I do not understand for the life of me why this woman has not been fired yet. If you are an official reading this please help these ladies. Another thing - there is NO FOOD BEING COOKED FOR THEM ON THE WEEKENDS. If your family member or you do not have the funds for food good luck eating over the weekend because there is NO ONE there cooking. This used to be an amazing rehab when Dr.A was there about 5 years ago because I myself went there and since she left this place has turned into a DUMP. I've also been informed that they push suboxone and methadone on the girls here and many of them abuse and sell their medications. There IS NO RECOVERY HERE. I'm BEGGING you please DO NOT send your loved ones to this free rehab because they WILL NOT get the love, care, respect, treatment or environment that they need..

Upon arriving and picking up my rentals the staff was immensely courteous and friendly. I walked across to the cafe and ordered a breakfast burrito (yum!) to go and off I was to the driving range for a few swings. I was paired with another single who had time for 9 holes and was a local who shared stories about the course and gave me a few good reads! Course was a great condition, it can be challenging but not difficult. Views on the back 9 and conditions played better than the front, but overall great round in under 4 hours on a Friday! Big Fan!

Worst golf experience of my life!!…read more The course is beautiful so we were surprised that it was almost empty until we got half way down the fist fairway. - The golf carts have GPS systems that will not allow you to drive to you ball unless it is in the fairway. I am a bogey golfer and I play from the rough but could not get to my ball. At one point I had 2 wheels on the fairway and the cart was shutdown. On 9 my buddy hit a pop-up in the middle of the fairway and the GPS system would not let us go to the ball. - We got 4 or 5 loud warnings on every hole. I had to reverse on almost every hole because there was no warning..the cart just shut down. There are no signs around the green so the cart stops at each arbitrary distance from the green. If I am going to be fussed at all day..I may as well stay home with the wife! Lol. - Also, the greens are super fast and set-up for 5% of golfers but not much fun for average golfers. - Bottom line is that the course is operated by an insane fanatic golfer that has no understanding of the business of running a golf course. I don't plan to play there again and you got to wonder how many other locals are avoiding the golf course due to the annoying golf cart GPS policy. - One more note...I would bet that when the course managers play the course they are able to turn off all the warnings and GPS limiters that they dictate for the rest of us!
