I've golfed (very poorly for the most part) for about eight years, mostly on public golf courses and I've played several Robert Trent Jones courses in Alabama in Huntsville (Hampton Cove) and I believe, Cullman Alabama. The most lovely course I've played is the Ledges in southeast Huntsville, high atop a mountain and it's a really beautiful private course with very expensive homes in the neighborhood. The Augusta National Golf Club golf course puts any golf course I have seen or played on to shame in terms of absolutely manicured tees, fairways, bunkers, greens, and entire grounds! Pro tip: enter the lottery each and every year! This year, my husband won four practice round tickets for Tuesday, April 7, 2026! Face value of the tickets was $500.00 and it is free to enter the lottery you just provide your name, email, and mailing address. Tuesday is a fantastic day to be at the practice rounds because it's not the traditional Par 3 day which is Wednesday, and the players are out and really practicing along with their caddies who are working their rear ends off taking copious notes about each hole. You would be amazed at the great views you get of the world's greatest golfers! We saw: Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Daniel Berger, Sam Burns, Nicolas Echavarria, Harris English, Sergio Garcia, Harry Hall, Sungjae Im, Michael Kim, Si Woo Kim, Jake Knapp, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Mateo Pulcini, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, Adam Scott, Sepp Straka, and Cameron Young. Go early! We got there around 6:30 AM and stayed till around 3:30. The eats are cheap and fairly good. We loved the (locally Church made) egg salad sandwiches, and my step-son-in-law liked the BBQ (?) chicken sandwich. The legendary pimento cheese, to me, is just okay. All the sandwiches are on a white Wonder bread type of bread which is not my favorite, and it's not toasted. Still, each sandwich is only $1.50. You can't bring in food or beverages. They sell a type of sports drink that tasted like hydrated powdered Gatorade that was awful in my opinion, beer, wine, water, and not delicious coffee. They probably have other beverage options. Wear comfortable clothing and avoid denim anything. You cannot have a cell phone on practice round days, bring a digital camera with an 8 inch or less lens, or a lot of people were using disposable cameras. The lines for merchandise are ridiculously long and remained that way the day we were there. Plan on 30 minutes just to get into one of the merchandise areas. There are smaller booths selling just Masters baseball styled hats in various spots around the course and those lines appeared to move more quickly. Richard S., is right: the folks working the tournament are very uplifting, polite, and helpful. The restrooms are truly spotless and again, you would be hard pressed to find a more lovely golf course! Given the opportunity do see the Masters in person! I'm so hopeful we get to see the tournament on an actual tournament day! You truly feel you are a part of history!

The course is quite nice. I played July 6th. I told the group behind us that we were playing best…read moreball. We had a group of four with three carts in front of us, so we could move any faster than we were. The people we told? They complained that we weren't moving fast enough. When the kid drove out on his cart to tell us of complaints from the golfers behind us, I said maybe you should look in front of us. One thing I hate is people rushing someone, especially when there is nowhere to go. The people I talked to complained after saying take your time. No apologies for driving into me as I was chipping on the green. If this course can't manage people better, I'll never be back. Not a great experience. In fact, I'm very pissed off...made for a bad time. Couldn't wait to leave.

I played here after attending The Masters morning round at Augusta National. They didn't have any…read moreavailability but made room for me to play with the nicest people I've ever played a round of golf with! From the person who took my bag out of the car, Linda, who seem to be the boss of things in the proshop(thank you Ms Linda!!) to Michael and his profession and especially the young Black lady between the ninth green and tenth tee box... What an excellent heart and mind towards customer service, I didn't get her name but she had a "necklace tat"...IT WAS A TREAT TO FEEL HER WARMTH after taking a bogey on the ninth hole. The course is very far, even with out of bounds stakes on every hole, the greens were very consistent and the course layaway is a challenge. I salute you for allowing me the opportunity to experience such a beautiful hidden gem of a place!!!! All golfers in the area should give this place a try...it is well worth the price of its green fees. To Mike, Joe and Pete...I am thankful to have been allowed to play in your group today, you were all the best anyone could have hoped for!! Jeff

Played Sage Valley today for the fourth time. Just an amazing experience. Top notch service all…read morearound. My caddie, John Wendt, was awesome. Best greens reader I've had out there so far, ask for him by name. He kept me positive and made it a memorable experience. Made two very long putts thanks to John's expertise, along with a tricky eight foot extremely fast down hill putt on 18 to crush my playing partner's soul and close out the day!

Was in town rooting for a friend who was competing in the Iron Man 70.3 race. Since I had a few…read moredays to myself and scheduled my tee-time. Upon arriving and picking up my rentals the staff was immensely courteous and friendly. I walked across to the cafe and ordered a breakfast burrito (yum!) to go and off I was to the driving range for a few swings. I was paired with another single who had time for 9 holes and was a local who shared stories about the course and gave me a few good reads! Course was a great condition, it can be challenging but not difficult. Views on the back 9 and conditions played better than the front, but overall great round in under 4 hours on a Friday! Big Fan!

Worst golf experience of my life!!…read more The course is beautiful so we were surprised that it was almost empty until we got half way down the fist fairway. - The golf carts have GPS systems that will not allow you to drive to you ball unless it is in the fairway. I am a bogey golfer and I play from the rough but could not get to my ball. At one point I had 2 wheels on the fairway and the cart was shutdown. On 9 my buddy hit a pop-up in the middle of the fairway and the GPS system would not let us go to the ball. - We got 4 or 5 loud warnings on every hole. I had to reverse on almost every hole because there was no warning..the cart just shut down. There are no signs around the green so the cart stops at each arbitrary distance from the green. If I am going to be fussed at all day..I may as well stay home with the wife! Lol. - Also, the greens are super fast and set-up for 5% of golfers but not much fun for average golfers. - Bottom line is that the course is operated by an insane fanatic golfer that has no understanding of the business of running a golf course. I don't plan to play there again and you got to wonder how many other locals are avoiding the golf course due to the annoying golf cart GPS policy. - One more note...I would bet that when the course managers play the course they are able to turn off all the warnings and GPS limiters that they dictate for the rest of us!
