Well, I finally got a chance to come back to Augusta and attend an event hosted here (85th Birthday Celebration). The facility (multiple banquet halls) was nice inside and out. The banquet rooms can be set up anyway you arrange. The banquet staff was very polite and attentive. However, the food was a little disappointing. The Tempura Fried Fish Filets were wayyy over cooked (dark brown and brittle), the string beans and sliced carrot were tooo salty, the roasted turkey and garlic mashed potatoes were decent, and peach cobbler was just okay. Having organized many business seminars on the west coast (and one of sisters owned an event planning company in Los Angeles) I would suggest that you request a tasting, if possible. Or maybe this place needs to just get a new chef. Not sure what was going on with the ladies room. It appeared clean but wreaked of urine(?). I am a super clean person and having owned a business with public bathrooms ... odors mean something was not sanitized correctly(with bleach solution). Back to the positive side of things... The food presentation was nice as was the dining area. Table was set up nicely. However, there was only one water glass per setting (no glass for the pitchers of tea and lemonade?). Neither were there dessert plates, salad forks or spoons in the setups? Never seen this before(?) I drank up my water to empty the glass to try one of the other drinks on the table. Same with my fork. I kept the same fork to eat my salad and dinner. There was a dessert fork above the place setting but you had to plate the dessert (peach cobbler) onto your dinner plate as you went through the buffet line. Never seen this before(?) So, the bottom line as in any event you plan you'll have to work very closely with the catering manager. I would ask specifics about your place settings and food. Nice facility though.

Recently I visited for a Women In Business event hosted by the Augusta Chamber of Commerce. They used two of the spaces, which were decorated beautifully. They used one room for a pre-reception and bar area. The other space was where the main event took place. The venue is spacious. I believe the catering is in-house. We enjoyed the meal. If they are in-house they were prepared with vegetarian options, which is always a plus. There is plenty of parking in front and behind the venue. It can be hard exiting the venue parking lot, but it won't take too much time. This is a great place for weddings, upscale events.

The Snelling Center is a great event space run by the Helms College Culinary School! This event…read morespace is located in the Goodwill Plaza next to Edgar's Grille, Hire Grounds and of course the Goodwill Store. It has been one of the top places to host events since they opened. One of the attractions is the culinary school and many of the students preparing the dishes. I visited for a launch event and the food that was available was great. The space is also very open and colorful. The venue provides large windows near the entrance, which provides great light for the venue. Additionally, the space is outfitted with electronic signage and awesome audiovisual equipment for presentations. I'd recommend anyone using it. I enjoyed my time and look forward to attend or hosting events at the Snelling Center.

What your eyes begin to notice are the various sectors of the property (outdoor ceremony area, reception, dance floor, house, garden, forest), but then you realize how everything is interwoven by the same stone path. Unlike Rome, all paths here lead to love. One of the gifts of the natural elements is how the DJ is typically positioned behind a large bush, still able to view the event in action but out of sight. The house is something out of Alice in Wonderland. There is an entire section of windows filled with stacks of books, and statues within the stacks of books. Maybe it's more of a Beauty and the Beast feel. But I digress. The art, the perfect lighting, the soft music all wish you could call this home. But it is there solely to house the food. You pick up a plate and head back out. The reception area is open air, with a bar tucked away in the back. Cocktails, bourbon neat, white wine, and a cold beer all await. In the few times I have been there, I like to sit out on the patio area. They have high tables and stools and you can see the surrounding forest. Plus the sound level of conversations is greatly diminished. I hope to return soon for another wedding, or really any event. I want to explore more, but have not due to always being in dress shoes. Upon arriving and picking up my rentals the staff was immensely courteous and friendly. I walked across to the cafe and ordered a breakfast burrito (yum!) to go and off I was to the driving range for a few swings. I was paired with another single who had time for 9 holes and was a local who shared stories about the course and gave me a few good reads! Course was a great condition, it can be challenging but not difficult. Views on the back 9 and conditions played better than the front, but overall great round in under 4 hours on a Friday! Big Fan!

Worst golf experience of my life!!…read more The course is beautiful so we were surprised that it was almost empty until we got half way down the fist fairway. - The golf carts have GPS systems that will not allow you to drive to you ball unless it is in the fairway. I am a bogey golfer and I play from the rough but could not get to my ball. At one point I had 2 wheels on the fairway and the cart was shutdown. On 9 my buddy hit a pop-up in the middle of the fairway and the GPS system would not let us go to the ball. - We got 4 or 5 loud warnings on every hole. I had to reverse on almost every hole because there was no warning..the cart just shut down. There are no signs around the green so the cart stops at each arbitrary distance from the green. If I am going to be fussed at all day..I may as well stay home with the wife! Lol. - Also, the greens are super fast and set-up for 5% of golfers but not much fun for average golfers. - Bottom line is that the course is operated by an insane fanatic golfer that has no understanding of the business of running a golf course. I don't plan to play there again and you got to wonder how many other locals are avoiding the golf course due to the annoying golf cart GPS policy. - One more note...I would bet that when the course managers play the course they are able to turn off all the warnings and GPS limiters that they dictate for the rest of us!

We rented this venue for our daughters Sweet 16 and we couldn't have picked a more suitable…read morelocation. They have a large industrial kitchen that we used to prepare some of the food and the extra large kitchen space made decorating her birthday cake and cake pops stress free. The tables and chairs were included in the rental price and a bar cart was available that we used for mocktails. We were allowed access to the facility the day before to decorate and the checkout list was not ridiculous. The conference room is large and was able to accommodate a cake table, a Dj station, mocktail bar, food table, gift table, teepee/play area for the kids and have enough room for a dance floor. There are cabins available for rent at the campground and we rented one so we weren't driving back and forth to our house in Grovetown multiple times and it gave us a place to shower and get ready for the party. Friends and family pulled their campers into the campground and camped for the weekend which made it easier for them as well.
