I immediately fell in love with the Spanish moss hanging from the trees and definitely wanted to capture that "southern" look. Also, there are places off the beaten path near little waterfalls and rushing water for more picture opportunities. Since then, I've returned with my family and friends for a relaxing stroll in nature. I enjoy the paths, especially for my young daughter. They have so much to offer: kayak rentals, bicycle rentals, a cooling off area for both humans and pets, bike repair station, a playground, etc. I appreciate that they have clean restrooms available as well as trash cans, and doggy doo receptacles. This place is so far off the beaten path even the trusted GPS on my phone failed me. Entering in the physical address will get you close, but you will need to drive another 1.5 miles once you've "reached your destination". You won't be able to miss the stone and iron rod gate marked as The Southern Barn at Neely Farms. It's a gravel road downhill so take it slow. Parking will be to the left, the barn and pond will be to the right. Just before the barn is where I performed the outdoor wedding. The sunset with live music being performed and the trees and pond as a background made for a gorgeous ceremony (and no, not just because of the guy in the black suit leading the whole thing). The Barn itself is not only beautiful, but massive in size! The outdoor patio area wraps around three sides, with the pond facing side turning into a porch with rocking chairs. Inside is the changing rooms upstairs, plenty of floor space on the ground level, and a back barn door that opens for carters and such. There is little needed for decor as the woodwork on this place is all the eye needs to behold. If you have a special day coming up, give them a call.

She was unprofessional and very short with me when communicating though email even though I was nothing but friendly with her. When we first looked at the venue in person, she spent the whole time texting on her phone, and when I asked her questions about where couples typically have the ceremony she said "I don't really know anything about what they do because I am not here when they have the event." The worst part was the day of the event when Julia neglected to give me the passcode to enter---on the day of my wedding. We were doing the setup ourselves and working with very limited time and I ended up getting the code 45 minutes past when we should have had it! She claimed she "thought she had given it to me" and basically gave me a "whoops" when she looked back in her messages and found out she didn't. For a venue as nice as this, Julia certainly isn't doing them any favors. Otherwise, I have nothing but good things to say about this place. It is far more beautiful in person than what you see in the pictures, and the views from the inside and outside are amazing. I love that we could do both our ceremony outside in the sand, and our reception inside (with great views!) without having to have our guests change venues. It does, however, get very hot inside in the warmer months even with the fans and air conditioning since the place is screened in. All in all, the Lake House was the perfect casual, warm and inviting setting to have our small wedding!

I think the masks made it hard for them to see because they often did not have them over their eyes, instead they placed them in their foreheads. But the hostesses were very nice, good with kids, and polite. The decor was perfect, they had face painting, games, music, it was clean, comfortable, and I could not ask for more. Lavishly Posh does all of the work, even the invitations, which turn out looking really cute. They also take lots of pictures & put them in a disc for your keepsake. All that I had to do is bring the food & cake and they set it up with warm catering trays even. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone who needs help organizing a party.
