Great location to host an event. The 4-H club often uses this building; it is very spacious and has a spectacular view of the Savannah River. It is a wonderful venue to host an event. Owned and operated by Columbia County, Savannah Rapids Pavilion is a self-supporting multi-purpose community/conference center. The pavilion offers a variety of rooms ranging in size from a 12-person conference room to a banquet room capable of accommodating 500. Savannah Rapids Pavilion is situated on an 80 - foot bluff overlooking the beautiful Savannah River and the Historic Augusta Canal. The facility offers a commercial kitchen on the main level and a limited kitchen on the lower level. Moveable partition walls permit the facility to accommodate small or large functions such as family reunions, weddings and receptions, conferences, seminars, trade shows, training sessions and organization meetings

The beauty of Augusta can easily be underestimated, but with the variety of scenery near the pavilion you can be lost in its allure. The Savannah Rapids Pavilion is located just above the headgates on the Savannah river and provides to be a beautiful location for photography. On Fri-Sun you'll see family members taking candids and professionals holding mini photoshoots. The old rock walls and outstanding background turn out so well with the varying light/shade. The Augusta Canal Company was formed over 160 years ago and is still in decent condition. The canal is 9 miles long, 11' deep, 150' wide at the surface and capable of producing 14,000 horsepower. This fury can be seen with the power of the river roaring behind you at the headgate. From the beginning the canal has been used for recreation, social events and escape from the city. In the 1840's boats charged 50¢ to take passengers up the canal and while prices may have rose, the beauty is still worth every penny. Take the time to go kayaking, snap some photos, bike down the trails or simply sit on a bench to soak in nature.

What an incredible place to have in Augusta. It's beautiful to be able to escape to this place that runs along the Savannah River. The trail actually runs between the Canal and the River. It's stunning. The trail is well kept, marked with mileage and signs notifying you of your location and distance to the next spot. I always feel safe. You can rent kayaks, take long walks, have a picnic. There's a playground, and the Pavillion is available for rent. There's lots of parking. If you live in Augusta or even are just visiting you owe it to yourself to get out and spend some time in this beautiful place!

Pretty and peaceful.

This is a beautiful recreation park, although it wasn't our original destination, I'm very pleased it's where we ended up. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The barbecue pit is located near the banks of the rapids and is a perfect spot to spend the day relaxing and enjoying the pretty views.

Beautiful!!! The area to the East of the river needs to be maintained better. It has a gate that is suppose to prevent people from walking on a very dangerous area... but the little gate is easy to bypass. But this was one of the pretties parks I've been to. I never knew Augusta had such pretty areas! Waterfalls, beautiful water and trees.

This place is so beautiful! Whether you just want to take a peaceful walk or want some beautiful scenery to take in, this place is it. I love overlooking the small falls and seeing the different types of birds fly over. The sound of the rushing waters is calming and I could honestly just sit there forever. It seems to be a good biking spot since I always see people riding. I know there are kayak rentals and spots to host events.

The Savannah Rapids pavilion is the perfect place to park when you want to enjoy the outdoors. We've come down here several times to kayak along the canal, but on this particular occasion we came to run along the Augusta Canal trail. Between the Savannah Rapids Pavilion and Chafee Park in downtown, it is about 5.5 miles. This is the perfect place for a long or a short run. I ran 3 miles out and 3 back this time, but some days I go down and back the full trail.

Could sit here and read all day!

If you're needing some time outside and want a place to relax, this is one of the best places to do it in Augusta. Just to hear the water running is relaxing in itself, but the views are something else. If you are looking to do a long distance run, this is a great place to do it. I came here to run ten miles (five out and five back in) and found out that there is a waterfall right around five miles that is really pretty and a nice place for a quick rest. I like that you see so many people with dogs, people kayaking, riding bikes, etc. Especially love when the lights come on at night.

When the weather gets warm, this is the place for exercise. While most people take advantage during all seasons, I only visit during the Spring and Summer months. Savannah Rapids Park is lovely. It has an awesome running, walking, or biking trail. You can kayak as well. I usually walk or jog. However, beware of the swarms of gnats. Oh my! I could hardly walk without encountering a swarm every 3 feet. It's a great place to exercise or have a picnic. You can also visit just to enjoy the scenery. The trail goes all the way to the Augusta Riverwalk, I haven't traveled all of it, but I may do so one day. Do yourself a favor and visit just to escape the buildings and cars if only for a moment.

View from the trail around dusk. You have the Savannah river (pictured) on one side, and the Augusta canal on the other.

This park has quickly become one of my favorite places to go running. The scenery is beautiful, and the trail is nice and wide enough to accommodate walkers, runners, and bicyclists. It's pet friendly too, so that's a definite plus for my pup and I! Only took off one star because I wish they had more trash cans available throughout the trail (not a fan of running 1/2 a mile with a bag of doggie doo). This park is also an entrance point the the canal, so there are kayak rentals and boat rides available for purchase.

Here for a company 5K. Beautiful place to get in a run, walk, or dog. They have Kayaks that you can rent. I can't wait to explore this place in depth. And bring some friends here.

Great place for a run, fun, or photography...but i bet the mosquitos are bad in warm or hot weather since there are no seasons in Augusta.

A great place for a walk, run, or biking. I wouldn't be out there after dark... It's still in Augusta.
