Our last five vehicles have been VWs, and I've dealt with various dealers over the last 10 years, but this one habitually offers the worst experiences I've ever had. I scheduled a transmission service online with a quoted estimate of $150. When I arrived, I was shocked to be told that the actual cost would be $600. I reached out to them with the written estimate still available on their website, only to be told they wouldn't honor it. I once brought my Atlas in for an airbag light issue, and the service writer dismissed the problem by claiming it was caused by my cell phone being in the seat, despite there being a recall specifically for that issue. This could have caused serious harm to my family because I was given a non-sense reason for a legitimate safety issue. Each time I take my vehicle here, they relentlessly push unnecessary upsells. Just last time, they attempted to sell me a coolant service when I had the work done just two months prior by a different vendor. If you want to deal with sleazy sales tactics and rude service writers, then this is the place for you! read more

We bought a vehicle from Demarius Williams with Kathleen Ford finishing out the paperwork. We finished up the sale after they were closed. When we left the Service Tire monitor system was on. I came back the next day to get it fixed and no one there knew what they were doing. They did not have the tool at Volkswagen so I was sent to Nissan, they didn't have the tool and told me I needed to go back to Volkswagen and talk with Demarius. After being run around I left and fixed it myself. I returned on the 7th day because I noticed the passenger seat heat warmer not working. I was told by Demarius that his manager said they would not cover it because the warmers were working when the vehicle left and I didn't pay for the extra coverage. I left and called Kathleen, because she said, " if we need anything to give her a call" she's been with the company 11 years, I got her voicemail. Kathleen called back confused on who I was, she didn't remember the sale, she stated she don't usually work Wednesday's ( yet she was there that Wednesday and on 10/29/25) and that she couldn't find the sale in the system. Kathleen said she'd call me back and has yet to return my call. This place hired a bunch of cowards who hide behind a phone. I have bought several cars along my path in life and this place is the worst so far, especially for the 5 star hospitality that the owner says they treat everyone with. read more

I would not buy toilet paper from auffenberg. I would not pay them to pick dog crap up out of my yard. I made that mistake. Sent my car in to find coolant leak. After 3400 dollars and 5 days later in repairs which included water pump, oil filter housing and the other parts they suggested to prevent engine damage my car ran for less then a day and is in need of a new engine. The place is impossible to get a hold of anyone. Asked for refund on work they said no my ticket was complete. They offered to sell me a used engine. I Told them to buy my car for price of work. They offered me 300 dollars over a month after incident for scrap value. They couldnt tell me that the work they did, did or did not cause they engine failure. My son purchased a Passat from this dealer. I was present when we were discussing with the salesman. Explained to the salesman that we were wanting to keep the cost as low as possible since it's his first car. After we sign the preliminary paperwork he stated that they were going to detail and ceramic coat the car but never stated that this was going to cost $995.00. Remember I said I wanted it the car the cheapest we could get it. Told the salesman that if I needed to co-sign for a better rate, he stated that it was not needed with my son having a credit score of 738. He should get anything from 4-8% for a interest rate. So I didn't go to financing because my son is 19 and needed to go through the experience. I left because I had another appointment. Later that evening I was able to look at the paperwork. My son got a 9.29% rate which is ridiculous. Never once did they say it would be that hi. I called the next day and explained that I was willing to co-sign and told them I would still drive the hour and 15 minutes and resign papers. They explained that they couldn't do anything but try and have us refinance with our bank. They wouldn't do anything with the interior/exterior warranty as of a discount or anything so we are stick with that also. Long story short don't trust what they say! Jeff in their service department went above and beyond in helping me when I had tire issues while traveling. He was incredible in helping me get my issue fixed. His staff were extremely courteous and fast. They were waiting for me and had my VW in the shop in no time and I barely got myself comfortable in their waiting room when they came back to say it was all fixed! I'd recommend ANYONE to go there. And I cannot imagine this place EVER getting a bad review. They are a group of kind, wonderful, and very helpful staff that would stay late just to get you back on the road! Bravo guys! I recently purchased a used Jetta through Auffenberg. Although I was purchasing on very short notice, I'd done my homework on the value of the car and my trade in. I knew exactly which car I wanted on their lot, and contacted them about it online. They got back to me right away and I set up an appointment for a test drive. I knew the car was priced well, but figured I would need to negotiate hard to get a fair value on my trade in. To my surprise, they offered me more than what I was expecting! Seth was super easy to work with and everything went very smoothly with both the sales and financing departments. They answered all my questions about maintenance and warranties and were really friendly. I've heard bad stories from friends about other dealerships trying to take advantage of people with shady practices. As a single woman and someone who hasn't purchased a car in almost 10 years, I was worried that I wasn't going to have the best experience, but I was treated very fairly and walked away with an awesome car! read more

Oh boy, where to begin? This was not our first time buying a car, but it was absolutely the worse car buying experience my husband and I have ever encountered. First, we visited the service department to ask a general question about a Volkswagen we currently have (did not purchase from this Volkswagen). A man and a woman from service came out to speak with us. The woman was rude and the man had no idea what he was talking about. Second time, we visited the dealership a month or so later to attempt to purchase another Volkswagen for our family. The salesman was very much pushing us towards one specific car. He didn't really seem to care about what our needs were, but cared more about what his were as far as his sales quota. He ran some numbers and didn't even try. Like, didn't try AT ALL. While we were waiting during this whole process, the only sales manager that was there, in that little glass office, with his computer facing out towards customers, was watching some very weird YouTube videos instead of helping his salesman close a deal. His main concern: what video should I watch next? While we told the salesman we were leaving because of the horrible experience, the other man continued watching YouTube. Also, vehicles that were posted online on their website weren't correct or up to date. We were told MANY times that certain cars had recalls. Thank you, Auffenberg Volkswagen. Glad to know your customers are so important to you. Update: we sent an email to reviews@auffenberg.com and the same sales manager who was viewing YouTube videos called soon their after. His call was pretty useless. He stated he didn't approach us at the dealership because he felt that the situation had escalated. I tried to purchase a car from this dealer a week ago. I test drove 3 cars. After I filled out all the paperwork they asked me to for a loan. After going through the paperwork I noticed the price for the car was not the same as the sticker price. So I asked about the other 2 cars and both the prices changed. The acted like something was wrong with the system and pretended like it never happened. I ended up leaving because the sticker prices was way more then what they where asking. I think this is a scam... It is against the law to advertise a care for more then they are charging. So if anyone else has had this problem please contact me. I went in to buy a vehicle today. I'm going to try to make this quick because a lot of things happened: -I got offered 4K less than an other dealership in St Louis (Plaza Infiniti) for my trade-in -No effort was made to come up on my trade in -No effort was made to come down on the sale price of the vehicle I chose (we hadn't even started negotiating. The price they had was already sooo good that they could come down on it) -The lease special that was listed on the VW website wasn't honored at the dealership -Thier military discount was "rolled in" to the price of the car (the same price already on their website; everyone gets that discount then?) -Sales associate rolled his head when I stated my discontent with the figures he presented -The sales manager didn't want to approach my wife and I because we were "escalated" customers (isn't that your job?) -Sales manager calls back (only after I send in an email to their reviews inbox) and pretty much tells me that they won't come up on my trade in or come down on their price -- so nothing changed, just called to console me but not to take a firm stand and say "hey, I'm here to help you. Come on in and let me make you a deal you'll feel good about??" Nope didn't get that at all. Long story short, didn't buy a car from them because they really didn't want to sell a car I suppose. There isn't room in this box for the chaos I endured in dealing with this company. As if buying a vehicle isn't stressful enough, to say that I'm disappointed with my experience(s) at Auffenberg Volkswagen in O'Fallon is an absolute understatement! They are obviously very eager and attentive when you arrive looking at vehicles. I drove almost 2 hours to this dealership on 6/21/18 with the intent to purchase. Every time I go in for service (often due to extras I had purchased), a different employee made empty promises to resolve existing issues (there were major issues with every visit- printing the paperwork 4 times due to errors, changed the APR, wrong appointments, unplanned fees, over 5 hour waits), then blames the previous or other employees. I recently went to the DMV to renew my plates as it's been a year. The DMV had to call the dealership and was informed that my paperwork hadn't been processed (after a YEAR) due to the original title being out of sate and the dealership not completing their part of the paperwork in a timely manner. Thankfully the DMV allowed me to purchase a sticker stating they "hope the dealership follows through before next year." Very embarrassing. My check engine light came on when I was recently there. I'm still awaiting promised cancellations, reimbursements (not taking it off my loan amount), and still being ignored by "the manager". If you're in the market to purchase a vehicle I definitely do NOT recommend taking your business to Auffenberg Volkswagen in O'Fallon. Very unorganized, poor communication overall, and unprofessional. Integrity and customer service is certainly not a priority. read more

I love Volkswagen & when it was time to trade in my Touareg, I knew Auffenberg was the place to go! They have always given me great customer service when it came to maintenance on my existing vehicle. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by a sales person, CJ. It was raining that day, so he offered to take us inside and show us the vehicle we had originally gone in to check out. Once going over all of the specs on the vehicle, he offered to take us out for a test drive. I soon realized that the vehicle I was looking at was too big for me. I spotted this gorgeous Passat GT on the showroom floor! CJ didn't hesitate one bit to offer to take it off the showroom floor so we could take it for a test drive! I fell in love with it! CJ worked with us & made it possible for us to become the new owners! He spent a great amount of time going back & forth to get us the price we wanted. Once the finance part was finished, he went over every inch of the Passat, explaining everything in great detail & answering all our questions. If your in the market for a VW, CJ is the person to see! He is very patient & knowledgeable! A true pleasure to work with! read more

I would never recommend Auffenberg to anyone we just tried to buy a new Tiguan from them and after agreeing to a deal of $26300 out the door including backup sensors and all fees taxes and title and license fees. We arrived to finalize the deal and were informed by Dustin the sales manager that the price was now $26300 plus all of the other stuff. To this day the car is still on their website for $24130 however Dustin informed us that the internet price was a fictitious price put on there to compete with the St. Louis dealers and to get people in the door. He freely admitted that he makes up those prices just to attract people to come in and then they can get them to do a deal anyway. I just wanted to let you know how disappointed I am in your business practices. To begin with, your online chat "support" was completely useless in information. They were more concerned with getting me on the lot than to answer my questions, even to the point of obviously not reading what I posted since they asked questions that were addressed in previous posts. I gave up and called. It was just as bad or worse. She was more concerned with getting referrals from me than addressing my questions. That is NOT a good way to get referrals... at least good ones! When I finally got the main question answered as to whether or not you still had the used truck I was interested in, I was given the wrong address to go look at it. Upon arriving there and not seeing it, I asked a salesman. He answered with kind of a smirky grin, "Oh, you want the Econo Lot down the street." That wasn't a good sign because the pics I saw on the internet made the truck look quite nice. How deceiving those pics were! Even people on craigslist are usually forthcoming with obvious issues with cars they are selling and post pics that show it. I would expect a large (maybe too large?) "reputable" dealership to do the same. Not the case here! I've seen a lot of shady car dealers not even carry cars this bad in appearance! As a result of this fiasco, I wasted over 2 hrs of time as well as gas and wear and tear in driving about an hour totally out of my way one direction then back. As I told your follow up caller, I wouldn't recommend you to the worse used car dealership I've ever experienced. Maybe Auffenberg Volkswagen should change their name to Awefulberg Experiences! This is another example of a dealership getting so big that they've outgrown their customer care. Maybe you take care of new car customers that spend 10's of thousands of dollars, but you couldn't tell it by my experience that you take care of anyone else. I'll tell everyone I know to avoid Awefulberg like the plague unless they call first (assuming they can get a straight answer then) and get a salesman on the phone that will look at the car in question and give verbal feedback as to its condition. One kudos goes out to Ricky Greer, sales consultant at the 901 S. Illinois St. lot. Even though there were 2 or 3 others walking around that disappeared when I got there (I had been told to go to the VIP Customer Care desk & that I had a reservation) Ricky broke from the customer he was helping and tried to help me. I told him I'd already looked at the truck and it was way too rough & not what I was led to believe it was and just wanted to let them know I'd been there. He showed signs of sympathizing with my obvious aggravation, gave me a card and offered "eyes on the spot" to give me clear and honest views of anything I might be interested in for the future. It might have been a good experience dealing with Mr. Greer. I'll ever know now. Please don't contact me, put me on a mailing list, or offer any vain apologies as I live in the center part of Missouri and wouldn't come back even if I lived there. I just would like to hear sometime in the future that you've grown from this feedback and follow more reputable sells tactics with online methods. read more

The car I purchased is a VW Cc. I love the car and it is everything I hoped it would , but I haven't driven it much in the five days I have had the car. It has been at the dealer getting hail damage repairs. I new the car had damage when I purchased it, but I thought my salesperson would have it taken care of in a day. It will ne at least five days before I get my beautiful car back. The dealer and the hail repair people are not very organized with the repairs at all. My car needs a plastic part also from the damage and my salesperson new this also when I bought the car. I do not understand why the part was not ordered before I brought the car in for hail repair. I'm waiting on on a part that should have already been ordered right after I bought the car. Once again I love the car, at the two days I have been able to drive it. They will tell you anything to get you out the door but they will just be broken promises. They sold me a car that Miss Auffenberg had driven around assuring me I would get the 35k miles service warranty from the time I had driven it which should have covered 40k check up. I am leaving two reviews for Auffenberg one for Volkswagen and one for Ford. Everybody at the Volkswagen dealership was helpful and wanted to help our salesman AJ Brooks was the one salesman that actually was competent and wanted to make sure our experience was great and we got matched with the right car. We ended up taking a Hyundai Elantra from the Ford dealership and bought it. That's where our experience turned sour. We ended up not getting the warranty they offered, why pay the extra money when we have multiple family members who work on cars... That's when the guy we talked to to finalize the deal turned from overly friendly to visibly flustered and unhappy. Ended up getting the deal done and have had problems with Ford having put a tire on incorrectly and through this process Ford has been dragging their feet, but AJ has helped get this done and those at Volkswagen have been great. Except for the man who tried to sell us a warranty everybody at Volkswagen was great. read more
