Previously when I posted a review I had nothing good to say about the service department office help at this location. Recently, the same person I criticized horribly has done a huge about face. Maybe she was having some bad days, it happens. The last 2 times since I posted I have dealt with her were and surprisingly she handled in a much better matter. Better each time. She has been courteous, returned my calls and answered my questions unlike my original visit there. Over and above she stayed in touch (I dropped my car off a day early lol) and she said they were very booked but would try to get started servicing if time provided. It would certainly help to have a Finance Manager and Salesman who didn't lie to customers. My husband and I were told we could purchase a car by signing up for a lease for four months and then paying off the lease with our payments going to the purchase price. This way we could get a "special price" for the car. When four months were up and we tried to pay off the car, all of a sudden, we were told that we couldn't do this! I purchased a vehicle from Auffenberg on 12/29. I have tried contacting the finance department starting on 12/30 and every other day since. I have left voicemails, I have had the receptionist state they would hand deliver message, my sales rep left him a handwritten message to the finance department as well. I called this morning spoke with Bri and she stated the Chris the manage would call me right back. Still no word. I tried to get some things removed from my contract before the loan was finalized and now its too late. I will be contacting the BBB and make sure I post everywhere not to go to Auffenberg. Received a call to schedule a recall on my vehicle. When I arrived for appointment, no record found. They did squeeze me in and I was told a 45 min job would be around 2 1/2 hours which was fine. After the time I called to inquire if vehicle was ready and was told my rep was out to lunch. I explained I just needed to know as i had to pick vehicle up regardless if it was done or not due to a work schedule. After a long hold I was then connected to the Manager that I had requested and he stated vehicle was ready.. When I went into to service department he slammed my papers on the counter and again told me how they contacted me at a certain time. I explained I had no calls from Auffenberg. I looked at my phone and said I had a robo call at that time but didnt answer because I thought it was spam. "John Koch" then said I must have the number blocked, I stated I didnt because Auffenberg was the one who scheduled this appointment. He then said its my phone and I should listen to my messages. Again, I thought I had a spam call. I asked him why he was being so rude to me and he said because I was yelling about my car. Never once did I yell about my car. I did make the comment to "John Koch" that he probably wouldnt talk to my husband the way he was talking and acting with me, and he stated, "yes he would". This is why I did not purchase my vehicle from Auffenberg and now I will not have my car serviced at this location. Service department makes it extremely difficult to schedule the mileage checks that they require for the warranties. They do not call back or when they do it rings once before immediately disconnecting so you have no chance to talk with a live person without calling multiple times. Their messaging insists on texts to schedule and that is impossible to get a time that works when you have a job that narrows times that will work to do the drop-off. After the first feat of getting an appointment for the regular maintenance, the inspection they do left my AC rattling. They have now refused to see it without me paying an inspection fee on an item that they left in disrepair. I "waited too long" to complain about the appointment in July - despite the calls on August 2nd, 5th, and 9th - then leaving a text on the 12th which was never sent back to schedule with me. I sent additional requests in through their website. I finally decide to try again as the rattling has never stopped even a month later and now I WAITED TOO LONG. Good grief, how many times must I be the one to initiate contact for a scheduling. Sure, it's my fault. As I am sure it also would not be their fault the noise just happened to coincide with the inspection that it has made the sound ever sense. I am sure the 300 dollar fee to get it looked that they'd waive if it was found they did something would be a thing that they would totally accept responsibility for now with as much care as they take care on scheduling. None, if that's not clear. Terrible scheduling, poor service that has left the car with an annoying sound when all it needed was an oil change. Don't go here, it's an act of futility to get in anyways if you cannot just take any old timeslot they feel like allotting you, so do not waste your time. read more

The voicemail says to text them. They still don't respond. So I tried calling the main number. Got a person named Taylor. She said she would look into it and call me back in 20 minutes. After my last visit to Affenberg Hyundai, I sent this email and did not get a single reply back from anyone there. If you are looking for a new vehicle. We bought our 2022 Hyundai Sonata Limited from them and it is a great car. We were also talked into purchasing a process called "Auto Butler". The way they said it worked was that each 6 months for 5 years, we would bring it to them and they would clean the inside and out and then apply a protective product for both inside and out. It has been our experience that they don't even vacuum the vehicle out when we have it there. And that makes me wonder if they are actually changing the oil and other services when I have it there. The car now is worthless all because of there fat finger mistake. I tried to call the dealership and left a message for Mo the manager to call me back. No response at all. Over the next few hours I called multiple times but nobody ever answered. I then tried to call the receptionist to see if they could transfer me with better results. I made a mistake buying a car here. From start to finish it has been disappointing and frustrating. Save your money and go elsewhere. Here were my issues: 1. I made an appointment to test drive a car and when I arrived no one greeted me for a while. I stood in the lobby while watching men in their offices sit on their phones and not look up. Finally after popping my head into someones office I was helped only to be told the person I made an appointment with on the phone was in another state....45 minutes later (after they charged the battery that was dead on the car I was supposed to look at) I got to drive the car. 2. The men at the dealership treated me like a teenager and also felt a sexist vibe. Did not feel respected at all and no one seemed like they enjoyed working there or wanted to sell me the car. 3. I knew more about the car then the people who worked there talking to me about it. I was buying a Mazda at the Hydaui dealership, but if you are selling a trade-in....do some research on the car you are showing people. That was unreal. 4. Sadly I have been wanting this type of car so much and it was a good price so I decided to purchase it anyway (mistake but it is what it is). I was pre-approved with my credit union but they kept trying to get me to go through them. When I told them to send the purchase order to my bank, Ashley the customer service person asked me over 8 times when I would come in to sign paper work trying to get me to go with them and not my bank. She eventually just told me she didn't know what she was doing. FINALLY after 3 days of asking them to work with me they sent the order in. 5. When I came to get the car I asked three times if the car had been cleaned because when I test drove it was sticky and had dog hair inside and they ensured me it was taken care of. After I took it home I found gross dog hair everywhere inside all the cracks and ROTTING VOMIT under the back seat. This is unacceptable and shocking. To top it off, everything was sticky from chemicals that were sprayed all over the car. Four days later and I am still only driving with the windows down because it was intolerable. I still smell it and get light headed inside the car. 6. They called me to ask how the car was going and I told them the above. Jerry told me unfortunately the only thing they would do is have me drive in again and they would "clean it" again. I asked if they would just spray it with more chemicals and he said "Yes, they would and I don't even let them use that stuff on my own car because I can't take it". Wow. The sales manager 1. Would not do anything about the issue and did not apologize 2. doesn't even trust the cleaning department himself. I asked for a credit to get my car detailed elsewhere and they said no. I took my car to a local detailer and they quoted me $200 for the issue saying it was disgusting. This experience of buying my first car that I saved up for and worked so hard to get has been so sad and upsetting. Hopefully someone reads this novel and it helps them avoid what happened to me. Next time I will be much smarter and buy from a quality dealership and likely a new car because I have lost trust in used. read more

So me my husband and my son found a used Nissan listed on auto trader for my son it would have been his first car he bought himself. We contacted Auffenberg set up an appointment at 6:30 to meet with a sales representative. Got there a little before 6:30 and found out the person we were supposed to meet with went home early so we got passed off to somebody that had no clue what we were even there to look at. The first person that came out said the car just sold ‍ ( then why did they set us up an appointment to look at it?) he went to double check came back and said it wasn't sold but it was in the shop across the street. He went across to go get it came back and said the lock box is broke and didn't have the key to open it. He finally got on the phone and found an extra key. He then went to go get the car now it was close to 7 and we hadn't even seen the car yet. Came back with the car and it was nothing like the listing on Autotrader depicted it to be. The car was decent inside but the outside had hail damage and it looked as if it had been in an accident and badly spray painted on fender with multiple damage in other places that were not listed in the listing it actually stated no damage. The engine had rust in the battery compartment and the alternator was squealing. We left very upset that not only how all this went down for a large dealership but also the fact that it was my son's first ever car buying experience. We won't be back. read more

I had free oil changes to 40,000 miles. First I was told I couldn't get in because they open after I start work and close before I can get there after work and do not have Saturday hours at all. Stopped in to get my oil changed on my government vehicle today. The service advisor took my vehicle in very quickly and was able to get my oil change done swiftly. They also did a full inspection on my vehicle and topped off my tires' air pressure because the sensor said the tire pressure was low, from the recent snow and cold weather. In addition, Tiffany the service desk representative provided me a tour of the lobby. Tiffany went above and beyond welcoming me to the area and conversing with me while I waited to get my oil change. She was very sweet and enthusiastic about her job and she made my time on the inside, in the waiting room, zoom by. I truly appreciate everybody there. You all did an amazing job. Deceptive business practices - they advertise their cars for way less than kelly blue book, but when you get there, they will give you exactly the same amount less for your trade in. I went to buy a 2023 santa cruz, priced as just over 34k - 4k below blue book.... just a few days ago (literally 5 days ago) I had another dealer offer me 16k for my trade in and said they prob could do a bit more. kelly blue book says its worth 16 - 20k appx. soooo...what does auffenberg do...well, they take and offer me 4k less for my trade - yup - offered 12k for my trade...to obviously make up the difference for what they marked down the car the were selling (nearly exact same amount) - so what does this mean for you? well - you end up paying full retail price for their car - aaaaaannnnnddd - they get your used car for 4k less than trade in - so likely are making double off of your used one when they sell it! Its a racket, its unfair business practice, its almost a bait and switch tactic and most importantly its unethical. OH! I almost forgot the kicker - they will run your credit before they talk to you about any of this - so now your credit score takes a hit too. Completely unacceptable. Auffenberg Hyundai in O'Fallon Ill has the most dreadful service department I have ever experienced. Twice I have had completely rude customer service employees, and today when I went to the service manager I was told that if I didn't like it I didn't have to come there. Trust me I wouldn't have if it wasn't the only place close to my home where I could bring my car to have the recalls taken care of and still make it to work. I was expressing frustration over a known issue that Hyundai has with my style of car, and has in the past fixed it, but is no longer fixing. Instead of a sympathetic I'm sorry I know that stinks it's past the warranty which makes it an issue we can't fix but maybe try A, B or C then my experience would have been different. But the employee John seemed to take it personally and got an attitude with me. I told him I didn't appreciate the attitude and he informed me that if I come at him with Attitude then he will come back at me with the same attitude. I wasn't mad at him, I was frustrated with the situation and customer service from a grown professional man should have been the very least I could have asked for. Instead, he got nasty with me, and when I went to the manager and saw his attitude ( don't like it find another dealership) I realized that was where it came from and I was wasting my time trying to get anything done about it. It's sad that nowadays customer service is a thing of the past.. However,it was not all bad. The man who got me the rental car for the day was lovely and kind and I appreciated that. Literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The very first person was very cold and off putting towards me. (Jerry was his name) I asked him some questions about a car. And he said ok here is the market adjustment ( which they should have that on their website, all the other dealers have the adjusted price on theirs.) He said ok these are the only two not accounted for, and he said you can't do deposits anymore. Those cars still have their deposits on it. (Even thought the gm told me they returned all the deposits. We went back and forth and I caught them in more inconsistencies. I told the man that he wasn't very inviting and kind of rude towards me. (Maybe they were all rude bc i was a female, and they were all men and I had my child with me and looked young, and the weren't expecting a female to have more customer service skills than them.) he then proceeds to tell me that I'm the only one out of his 60k customers that thinks he was cold and rude to me. I was shocked he said that to me. How unprofessional. Then I asked to speak with someone else, 2 other salesmen come over . ( one talks to me the other lingers). I asked him if he was a manger, he ignored it at first and said what can I help you with. I asked again for a manager they said he stepped away from his desk. Then one of the guys said oh I'm a manager, I was like didn't you just tell me the manager was away from his desk. He said yeah well the general manager is. Finally the GM came, I said I wanted to talk with him about how I was treated and lied to in the first five minutes of speaking with the sales representative. He kept giving me a blank stare. ( body language was saying one thing while his mouth was saying another, I could tell he didn't like to be questioned and caught in so many inconsistencies.) While staring at my child. ( once again body language very unsettling) I proceeded to tell him how cold the other man was. And how I was looking for a car and to trade in mine. The gm told me things that were completely different than what the other guy told me. Kept trying to compare it to Chicago, and I said that's irrelevant we are closer to st Louis not Chicago. He said why would you say that. ( im in sales, and I've obviously had a lot more experience than this general manager, if he can't read the room and body language) Never once did he ask to take my number down and call me when the car came in.. He never once apologized for his behavior until I said you know what I'm wasting my time goodbye. They don't want to sell you a car and they absolutely don't care about customer experience from the salesman all the way to general manager. I am shocked that this is the face of this dealership. There are sooo many cars dealers to choose from do not waste your time here, especially if you're a female. They obviously don't like women. Not to mention the huge craters in parking lot that will destroy your car when you drive in. They are charging extra money and they can't afford to fix the asphalt. Despicable. There are no signs or warnings about them. The outside looks grunge at best. Inside looks alright, but first impressions are everything and Auffenburg failed on everything in my opinion. I will forever associate the word Auffenburg with rude, cold and disrespectful men. And I will be make sure to tell everyone I know about my experience, so they don't have the same one. read more

This is long, but read till the end and make up your own mind. My wife went to Auffenberg Hyundai to purchase a 2022 Tucson. (Specifically Limited Hybrid version) I was TDY at the time for the Air Force. With scarcity of new cars, she had to act immediately before it was snatched up. Unfortunately, my wife trusted the salesman (private message me if you want to know who it was) to treat her right and give her accurate information. First problem: It wasn't a hybrid. It was a normal Limited. The salesman was in such a hurry to make a sale, he never went over the fact it wasn't a hybrid. Second problem: When my wife asked if it was AWD, he said it was only FWD. She inquired that she thought the limited hybrid only came in AWD. He responded that the Midwest version only comes in the FWD and it would be a special order for AWD. He even said that AWD in this model is only good up till 8 mph and after that really wasn't worthwhile. AWD is only good on slow ice and snow. (Huh??) Straight out lied about AWD. Instead of going over different models with AWD, he plowed ahead trying to sell this specific car. Our bad for not reading the owners manual of the vehicle and knowing the vehicle better than the salesman. Worse Problem: Lied about financing. We can qualify for any financing, but knew Hyundai was offering a $500 incentive to go through their financing. My wife specifically asked how much additional it would cost for HMF financing. He said that it would only cost an additional $62. She confirmed/asked multiple times. He even said we couldn't pay it off until we paid 3 months worth of payments. (Huh??) She figured only $62 for financing over 3 months was great, so went ahead and bought the car for $36,995. ($39,381 w/everything) Once she brought it home, she was able to contact me (I was in the field all day) and had her take a picture of the car. Definitely not a hybrid. (No hybrid badge) I also calculated the financing. $451 over three months. (Almost the same amount we were supposed to save) I called Hyundai financing and they said we could definitely pay off immediately and there is no such thing as having to pay 3 months worth of payments. Called the manager at Auffenberg and told him of the horrible experience she had buying the car. The only thing he could offer is if he found a hybrid car in the next 72 hours, we could trade that in and pay the difference. I knew they would have no incentive to find a vehicle. Surprise--they didn't find one. We called other Hyundai dealers in St Louis and they said they would never trade a car with Auffenberg. The other option was to have his appraiser look at the car and give us an offer. 20 additional miles, we brought it in and they offered us....$33,000. CARMAX offered us $38,000 for the car a day later. My wife could see the manager and salesperson hiding in their office. Wouldn't even come out to talk to her. We talked to another Hyundai dealer in St Louis (he wanted to speak on condition of anonymity) and he couldn't believe what information he told my wife, why he didn't educate her on all the different models, confirm if that was really the vehicle she wanted, and lied about financing. He was amazed the salesperson would do that in today's market since new cars sell themselves. He said if one person doesn't buy it, there are twenty people behind them that will buy it. I'm so disappointed in how a dealer and salesman can take advantage of someone because they don't know the cars better than they do. If I knew what I know now, I wouldn't have ever gone to Auffenberg. We still absolutely love our new Tucson Limited. I know new cars are incredibly hard to find now, but you have to ask yourself, "How much is that car really worth, is it really worth going to a certain dealer or should I just wait until another dealer I want to go to has the car I want?" I come in and was quoted at minimal an hour, took about 30 mins. Excellent everything's looking good. No, everybody in front of me was being told oh your cars in the wash, were waiting for it to get it's courtesy wash. I was like cool they even do free wash here. I come out to my car still with the road salt on the wheel well. Not touched. Open the car door to find all trash and covers in the car. Wasn't impressed with that too much. I had done quite a bit of research before my recent car purchase. Not only was I researching which vehicle would best suit my needs, but which dealer would take care of me, at the time of the purchase, and when it came time to take care of the vehicle in the future. Let me just say this. I have bought 12 vehicles in my life, and this was hands down, bar none, the quickest, easiest, no hassle purchase of a vehicle I have ever made. Our salesman, Jerry, who is the sales manager, was direct, honest, and very accommodating and attentive to us and our needs during the entire process. A great example- he noticed the vehicle was missing floor mats,which would typically be in the trunk, and before I even had to ask, he made sure to tell me that they would take care of it before we left, which he did. Their pricing is not only fair, but I found them at least 5% lower than everyone within a 100 mile radius on the particular vehicle we purchased(Tucson SE). The "auto butler" service they offer, the free car washes, the professionalism and cleanliness of the dealership and the consistency of the staff, are all reasons that we are not only happy that we went to Auffenberg, but the reason we will most definitely be making our next vehicle purchase there for my 16 year old daughter in a few months. Do yourself a favor, save the time and effort, save the haggle and sales pitches, save the nonsense and the games, and go straight to the dealer who stands above the rest in all areas. I took my Hyundai in for a recall and it was fixed within 2 days - had to rule out other causes of engine stop failure. They were friendly and took their time to pay attention to my car needs. 2 previous mechanics could not fix it. They also fixed a low tire alert for no extra charge. John was my mechanic/service tech and he was awesome. Would definitely bring my car back there again. My only suggestion is that since it was being serviced for a recall , I feel I should have got a loaner car at no charge instead of a $25 courtesy fee. Ford and Chevrolet don't do that. After 5 days of flying across the country and back, I came home to a car with an obvious problem, it was the brakes, and the work could not be put off or ignored. I called for an appointment and was scheduled to come in that very morning. Auffenberg got my Elantra in immediately, got me a loaner car, washed and vacuumed the vehicle, and were very professional. August 14th was the worst day that I have had in the year 2014 but the staff was still very professional and courteous despite my jet lag, sick feeling, and bad mood. I am having a hard time believing that there aren't more reviews about this place. I guess people out here just don't use Yelp. This is the place that used to be called St. Clair Auto Mall until someone finally got tired of the acronym SCAM, which if befitting. I am here to tell you that this is one of the worst Hyundai Service departments I have ever dealt with. Rude customer service, workmanship was just average at best, and often I had to beg to get anything done to the car. I have recently come to find out that none of the work they did comes up on the Hyundai service system at other dealers, so I have to dig out all of my old receipts to show when work was done. Did they do it at all? They even told me that I had to call Hyundai myself to get some work done! Are you kidding me? That's your job! Then they dragged their feet on fixing my door handles until it was "out of warranty" even though I told them about it before the warranty period was up. Again, "call Hyundai to see if they will fix it". Unbelievable. I have since found a much better Hyundai dealer with a much more courteous staff that doesn't make you feel like some idiot off the street. I wouldn't even turn in a clunker for the CARS program to this place. Go somewhere else. read more

I brought my new Elantra in for service because I had a defective wiper blade. I felt kind of silly but it's a new car and I have the Hyundai service package. The service guys were great though and ended up replacing it and then testing it out by running it through the car wash a few times. When they told me it was ready I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had also been vacuumed inside. Very pleased with the service here! read more

Again, I praise the entire service department at Auffenberg Hyundai. My 2000 Sonata had to be towed to the dealership Monday afternoon. By Tuesday late morning my car had a new starter and I was back on the road. Each and every member of the service department is always kind, helpful and quick to assist for those unplanned events. I will definitely purchase my next vehicle at Auffenbery Hyundai to show my appreciation to the loyal service I have been given for the past 13 years!!! Until then I will continue to strive for 200,000 miles and who knows...maybe more, it's a great car:) read more

Just to let everyone know that this issue was never resolved and we went to another dealer to purchase a new Hyundai because we did not feel safe in our car. I would never take a vehicle to Auffenberg Hyundai for service and most certainly not purchase a vehicle from their dealership and suggest you do the same if you are reading this. read more
