I'm going yard with this review of Ackerman. Their service department was exceptional.. My overall experience was flawless and I'm rewarding them with a full 5. I scheduled the the appointment over the phone. I live out of town, but my son's car is in Saint Louis where he attends college. I set it up when I would be in town. My appointment was for an oil change and tire rotation early Saturday morning. The Bay Area was so clean you could eat off the floor. The initial staff was friendly. He took me in immediately and I met with a service advisor Vincent. The waiting area was clean and comfortable. Complimentary bottle water and snacks are provided. My advisor came out to speak with me on recommendations for additional service. With the mileage being close to 90k performing a more extensive service with fluids and replacement of spark plugs. I agreed. He also said I could locate a coupon online and use, even from another dealer. With a more extensive service they needed two more hours. The car was completed at approximately the three hour mark. They also at my request removed an insurance beacon and scraped off the glue residue. Checkout was smooth and I utilized a 10% discount. They take all major credit cards. I was given my paperwork. The staff were friendly and professional. I would recommend and will return. read more

I would like to share an amazing experience that I had when purchasing the 2026 Toyota Grand Hylander Hybrid at Ackerman Toyota. We had the pleasure of meeting salesman Ryan O'Leary and we were highly impressed by his knowledge, professionalism, and thoroughness after having visited several local dealers who informed us that there is a 6-month waiting period before the vehicle would be available. As stated, our amazing salesperson, was amazing. He was able to order the vehicle and we drove off the parking lot less than two months after the order. That's the cake, but the icing was that he took time with us to go over every inch of the vehicle and every feature that the vehicle has, and let me tell you, there are many. I came in just hours after they listed a used impreza for sale on their website. There is no way that someone git there before me. The car hadn't even been detailed yet, smelled like cigarettes and had garbage in the floorboard. The sales rep, Ray Trout told me i could put a deposit on the car that day and sent me out on a test drive. I loved it, it is exactly the car I want/need. I finish the test drive and asked to pay my deposit. Well, all of a sudden the car is no longer for sale. They sold the car to someone else while I was test driving it. How incredible disgusting is that? Who behaves that way? He just wasted my time and got my hopes up for nothing by sending me to test drive a car they refuse to sell me. I continue to have problems with my service person Vincent Wolk. I called in to schedule a service appt and after confirming my vehicle he INSISTED that I had not been in for service since last year in November. I continued to tell him that I had been faithful with service due to the fact that at my last visit I had renewed my Toyota plan for oil changes/tire rotations. Once again he INSISTED that I had not. I then told him that a part was to be ordered at my last visit and I was not notified that it had arrived. He again INSISTED that no parts had been ordered for me and that the part that I needed could only be ordered as a full unit (of course more expensive) I scheduled the service and hung up to look for my paperwork. I found my paper work which confirmed that I had indeed been in for service 3 months ago in Feb and that the part could be ordered without ordering the full unit. I called him back and his excuse was that he was working with 2 customer and got us confused. What happens to customer service and the customer is always right? What happened to confirming that you have the correct customer ....especially in light of a customer that is insisting that your information is not correct with concrete/specific examples! When I arrived for service the price of the part had gone up $40 dollars. I questioned the price and he quickly marked it back down to the original price. I plan to switch to a different dealership because I have no confidence in the service with Ackerman Toyota. read more

Ryan O'Leary at Ackerman Toyota is the BEST! We were on a waitlist with another dealership for 7 months for our hybrid Highlander. He got us a brand new one in 7 weeks!! I have no idea what magic he worked, but it felt like a miracle. He reached out as soon as it was being manufactured, and we got to add our own upgrades. I drove 4 hours to pick it up, and Ryan immediately met me at the door as if he knew me. We'd never met! The process was incredibly quick, and we got a great deal on our trade-in, too. They have no attention to detail: The car they sold me had a safety inspection which just expired, so I had to return for an inspection on my day off. They didn't have the second key available when I picked the car up. I had to return two more times to obtain it. Went in for a simple oil change and tire rotation. The upselling began immediately and didn't stop. After waiting an hour, the service writer (Mark) brought in my paperwork so I thought I was good to go. No! He tried selling me services I'd never heard of before and a set of tires before the work on my vehicle even began. Two hours in, I asked to speak to the service manager (Scotty), who scrambled off to retrieve my vehicle but didn't stop to speak with me as I had requested. I couldn't get out of there fast enough - and will never return. I do not recommend unless you're into being used. read more

After 18 years, I was finally ready to trade in my 2005 Corolla. I'd been looking for a new 2023 Corolla SE for about a year when I stumbled upon one in the color I wanted on the (main) Toyota website. I called Ackerman to inquire about the car and was transferred to a salesman named Ryan O'Leary. During the past year, I spoke with nearly a dozen car salesmen in both Illinois and Indiana. I'd been told by multiple salesmen that Toyota wasn't currently taking custom orders due to the global chip shortage caused by the pandemic. I had my heart set on having the Celestite exterior color with the moonstone interior. Most of the cars I'd seen had the black and red interior, which I didn't find appealing. Many of the salesmen I spoke with told me I'd either have to compromise on the interior/exterior color or possibly pick a different model car entirely. They claimed I'd have to wait at least a year for a car unless I was more flexible. One guy even tried to get me to the dealership to run a credit check just so he could talk me into buying something that they had on the lot. I didn't want to settle, so I was starting to think that I should either pick another car manufacturer altogether or that I should maybe stop looking for a car entirely. I'd waited 18 years up to that point, so what's a few more years? Needless to say, by the time I spoke with Ryan, I was nearly ready to give up. However, Ryan ended up being a breath of fresh air. He was direct, seemingly honest, and affable. I was never married to a particular dealership or salesperson during my search and figured whomever ended up getting a sale from me would simply get lucky. Well, that day happened to be Ryan's lucky day. I liked him and appreciated how he took his time explaining things to me and answering all of my questions. He also never pressured me into anything, which went a long way with me. Ryan told me that the other salespeople who told me they couldn't order a car were lazy. He explained how he could search inventory nationwide and how inventory was allotted to dealerships. He explained that there were 3 cars currently available in the colors I desired. (Initially, I wanted the two-tone roof) There were 9 cars in Celestite (not two-tone), which he said would probably be more attainable. He explained that local dealerships don't control their own websites. The websites are maintained by Toyota corporate, and oftentimes, the inventory on the dealership websites was inaccurate because the cars listed were already sold. He said that cars were sold before they even hit the website. By happenstance, Ryan said Ackerman had just been allotted three Corolla SEs two hours prior to my call. He said one of the cars was in Celestite. He urged me to consider putting a deposit down on the car sooner rather than later if I wanted it because it probably wouldn't be available for long. I thought about it for maybe 30 minutes before calling Ryan back and putting down a $500 non-refundable deposit. Ryan explained the process going forward and how long I'd have to wait until the car was delivered. During the three week waiting period he kept me abreast of all of the pertinent developments and explained that I could finance online prior to the car being delivered thus shaving the time I'd have to spend at the dealership considerably. I drove from Chicago to Ackerman on a Saturday. Ryan greeted me upon arrival and showed me the car. He started the initial paperwork before I eventually met with Ackerman's business manager, Mike. Mike was efficient and thorough... he went over the sales contract and answered all the questions I had. He also explained how the Toyota warranty worked, went over the paint protection package, and some other details. The process was fairly quick and painless. I was surprised that buying a car could actually be such a pleasant experience. I ended up only being at the dealership for about two hours. Before I left, Ryan took the time to explain all the features in the car. It was a lot to take in since I'd been driving something akin to the (Flintstones) Cavemobile! Lol One thing that set Ackerman apart from some of the other Toyota dealerships is the fact that they didn't sell the car for a penny over MSRP. One dealership in Chicago was selling the same car for 5k over MSRP just because they could. (They claimed it was due to the chip shortage and production delays) IMO, taking advantage of potential customers isn't a good look. So Ackerman had that going for them from the start... Ryan, being a gem, sealed the deal. I had a good feeling about him and decided that he would be the one to get the sale from me no matter what. After talking to so many other salesmen, he truly went above and beyond to set himself apart from the others seemingly without even trying. Alyssa has always been my customer service representative in the past, but today, I worked with Rich K. I appreciated Rich checking in when the service time was taking longer. Not only did he inform me that the maintenence services were going to be longer than expected, but he also checked with the service team for an updated estimated time. I took my 18 carry in July 31st to replace my struts and a wheel a wheel alignment since I have to replace both struts service was excellent. Now I take my car back my wheel alignment is off 40 days later and they charged me again for a wheel alignment he told me there is no warranty on alignment. I have never ever heard of no warranty. I had my car for 7 yrs and only had a wheel alignment once and I go here and get one now I need another wheel alignment. I have broken 2 rims on St. Louis streets and didn't need an alignment. So now I am paying for going there. read more

I didn't buy my car here, but I do get mine serviced here. The service staff are super friendly and don't pressure you to get extra services. This last time they didn't go over my inspection results in their eagerness to tell me what services they did suggest, though. I didn't realize it until they sent me a survey afterwards, though, lol. I'll assume that if my air pressure was low in my tires or anything of that sort, that they would've brought that up. I do wish they'd return my headlight setup to auto when they're finished, though. Thieves and Liars. I moved from California and have not been anywhere else but Ackerman for my services. I had wheel locks that were a third party. After more than a year of service with Ackerman, one day I hit a pot hole that totaled one of my tires. When looking for my wheel lock to replace with a spare tire I could not find my wheel lock and had to get it towed to Ackerman. After looking everywhere for my wheel lock, Ackerman insisted they did not have it even though they've rotated my tires for more than a year. Either they never rotated my tires and charged me or they lost my wheel lock. Couple days goes by trying to figure out what to do, carless, I make the decision to brake my wheel locks and have everything replaced. They quoted me $1400 per tire. Thankfully one day I called when I was about to move forward, I caught the manager and explained to him what was going on. He somehow found this wheel lock, again this is a third party wheel lock which is only ONE kind! They had my wheel lock the whole time and told me I misplaced it and was about to charge me $1400 per tire to brake and replace the tires and locks. Another time, this female employee charged me for a $400 "filter", another time $240 for a "filter". Because my air conditioning had some issues with odor. When the smell did not go away I asked them what those charges where and they weee not able to find them in their system even when I showed them charged in my card from Ackerman and they always said someone will call you back. These people are snakes and liars and will sweet talk you into paying them more. I am forced to drive to Saint Peter's to get my car serviced because I do not trust anyone that worked at Ackerman besides the manger who thankfully saved me from spending thousands because their employees are snakes and liars. I do not recommend this place and wish they would own up to there lies and pay me back. read more

I would like to give credit where it's due, as this is one of the few Toyota dealerships where they don't add any extra fees to the sticker price. You pay the MSRP without any additional fees. However, be prepared to pay with your time, nerves, and patience as the overall experience may be taxing on those fronts. We ordered a Toyota Corolla Cross three months ago without any issues. Our sales manager, Randall Yu, did an absolutely fantastic job. However, when we finally came to pick up our car and went into the finance manager's office, we were shocked by the terrible attitude and demeanor of the business manager, Mike Keiser. After offering extended warranties and other products, he tried to avoid answering simple questions about the cost of those products. He intentionally conducted all conversations about prices, percentages, terms, and payments without any written documentation, expecting us to rely solely on auditory information and make quick decisions. He showed a complete lack of professionalism and customer service. His behavior, tone, and manner of speaking drastically changed after we informed him that we would not be financing through him due to the excessively high interest rate, as we had a pre-approval from another bank. Mike Keiser made it clear through his demeanor that he had completely lost interest in our conversation and wanted us to leave as soon as possible. I have rarely encountered such overtly contemptuous behavior towards people. At one point during the conversation, he simply walked out of the office. He stopped answering any questions and eventually suggested scheduling a new appointment, then left without saying goodbye. He practically threw the bill of sale on the table in front of me without any explanation of what to do next. So we left dealership with the thought "What the heck was that and why are we being humiliated for our own money?" The car sales business has reached a new low - now, in order to buy a car, you have to endure humiliation. Thank you for the excellent job. There have been SO MANY NEGATIVE reviews with this company and it's service. Plus that "manager" Brian is just useless. Also, make 100% sure that if you ask if the Toyota CPO warranty is included in the price, THAT YOU'RE NOT LIED TOO! Also, that when you are told that the price you are financing today is the EXACT same price and not added on an additional $5k for your warranty after you see Mike the financial guy, bc even if you ask him if it's included in the price of the warranty he will lie straight through his teeth and tell you yes. Then when you open your financial Toyota app you will see that the warranty he decided to add on himself through your paperwork without your knowledge an additional $4k-$7k. So I would choose very wisely where you want to spend that extra amount of coverage, especially on a dealership you can trust! This clearly is not it. Read the reviews and their service, this is definitely not a place that you want to do your business at! I certainly won't be returning and it's all due to the way this so-called manager runs this business. If I was Jerry Ackerman I'd be sure to be looking for a new manager instead of this piece of work he has running the show. I had a great experience at Ackerman! My girlfriend recently purchased a used Camry from a family friend. I took the car in to get a routine service, which included an oil change, some other fluids, an engine cleaning, and a general inspection. They also checked on a few issues we had noticed after owning the car for a few weeks. Rich did a great job and was in communication with me throughout the service. We opted not to fix an issue with the sunroof, but left with a great idea of pricing and timeline for ordering parts for when we are ready. The service seemed well priced, and we will definitely be returning for future work on the car. One suggestion / thing I did not like. When I dropped the car off I was asked if I was staying or going to come back later. I opted to stay because I did not have a ride, and did not know the service would take 4 hours. It would have been nice to get an ETA, because I likely would have left and come back knowing that. Not a huge issue. Overall a great service department that I felt valued at and comfortable trusting my car with. Also, the coffee machine in the lobby is VERY cool. read more

We purchased a car from here and we received exceptional services from sales. We noticed a few problems with the vehicle and Meghan addressed all of our issues but within a week we noticed a noise coming from the left side of the vehicle. When we brought the car into repair we let the service center know the issues we were having. We had to them to check for the noise we were hearing, at first they were unable to find the problem but after throughly checking over the car they heard the same noise we were referring to. We completely understand the car isn't a brand new but we purchased it just a week before. But we also trust Ackermann would throughly check their cars before you pass them to the consumer. We spoke with Rich Kindle his behavior, tone and mannerism were unprofessional. Ackermann was not willing to repair and did not offer us anything other solutions or options. Rich states he spoke with Steve the service manager and Steve refused to repair the vehicle. Rich lacked professionalism and customer service. I bought a 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport from Ackerman. The sales experience was fine. The trade-in was valued reasonably. The truck was delivered in clean condition. Ackerman fell short in doing simple paperwork such as putting my correct address on the title. I got home and notified Ackerman immediately of their error. They told me to come back and they would have corrected paperwork waiting for me but my salesperson would not be there. Ackerman corrected the address on everything but the title. The Missouri License Office would not issue a new title without the correct address. They needed an affadavit from Ackeman stating their error and the correct address. I could not get hold of any human being at Ackerman to do this - my salesperson was unavailable, the General Manager was unavailable, the person at Ackerman who handled new vehicle titles would not answer or return calls. Long story short - after multiple trips to Ackerman, countless phone calls and e-mails, a half dozen trips to Missouri License offices, I still do not have a title to my new truck - all because Ackerman cannot copy a simple address. I think this is ample evidence of gross incompetence and substandard customer service at its worse. What are the odds that I will do business at Ackerman in the future? read more

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for this dealership! My husband, 5-year-old daughter, our dog, and I were driving from Connecticut to Oklahoma to visit family when our Sienna started smoking and broke down, fortunately about a quarter mile from Ackerman Toyota. The tow truck could only fit one of us, so I called the dealership and they had a shuttle come get us (even our big furball dog) in less than 15 min. When we got to the dealership, they welcomed us all inside (again, even the dog), gave my daughter an adorable zebra mask, crayons, and coloring book, set us up with a rental car and had us back on the road in less than an hour. I recently ordered a Prius from Ackerman. Before leaving a deposit I was told that after the car was "allotted" the deposit would be nonrefundable. With that being said, I was not told that the dealership would be ordering a car fully loaded and trying to get me to "ok" the car that was already "allotted to the dealer". Just to be clear, I was led to believe that the dealer was getting this car from the factory anyway!! Fast forward 1 month and I started to question if this car is what I wanted!! I spoke with the GM Brian Hacay about the situation. It Quickly went out of control!! He went straight for the deposit without even offering any solutions. I then called my salesperson Meghan Kelly and let her know what was going on. She assured me that she would take care of the situation and no need to go any further. Fast forward two months- BRIAN HACAY has to be the worst human on the planet!! I have never dealt with someone who is so unprofessional that they are disrespectful and nasty over the phone. Then hang up on you!! What a coward!!! As for MEGHAN KELLY, you should practice on your INTEGRITY!! When you tell someone you will do SOMETHING, you should DO it!! I must say I was NOT expecting to have such a great experience! Most car owners are familiar with the horror that most dealerships are, and I usually avoid them at all costs but sometimes circumstances call for compromise and I'm glad I made this one. I normally go to the Meineke arent Kingshighway from my car services, where the man at the desk, Ivis, always treats me very well, as if I were family. However this time when I brought my car and due to loss of engine oil, smoke, and a burning smell, I was rudely turned away by the guy who usually only stays in the back, because Ivis was out for the week. The issue with my car seems serious enough that I didn't want to wait for Ivis to get back. He told me I should go to the dealer for engine work. So I drove my stinky car over to Ackerman, expecting the worst! Surprisingly, they brought me in right away even though they normally only work by appointment. Perhaps I was lucky they weren't super busy that day, but I was grateful that they were willing to squeeze me in like that. I was handed over to a lovely woman named Mehja (not sure if I spelled that right, sorry). Even though I was babbling hysterically, as I need this car for work, she assured me that I would be taken care of and she lived up to her word. The diagnostic fee was $135, which is reasonable considering they had to open the engine. The lobby is actually comfortable and has an ample seating and good Wi-Fi and good coffee! I only waited 30 minutes before being given my diagnosis of a bad valve cover gasket, which is consistent with the maintenance schedule anyway. she ordered the part immediately and told me it should arrive in the morning between 8 and 9 AM and that they would call me. The next morning I didn't receive a call also just before lunch I called to find out the part I just arrived. They were out of appointments for the day already but she sent me up for 8:10 AM the following day. I arrive precisely at 8 o'clock and after only an hour and a half, the job is done and I was charged about $80 less than originally quoted! The car is now running beautifully and the smell is gone! My old mechanic better watch out because it looks like he has competition now. They have this oil change and tire rotation package that's a pretty good deal as well, look into it! 2010 Toyota Prius Edit: Everything below still stands but I need to provide an update to justify the 1 Star rating. Yes, they initially "worked with me," but then my A/C, in which they "fixed" went out again not a month later, having the same symptoms it had previously. However, this time they said it wasn't their fault and was not associated to the work, that a rock had "blown through a hose" and created the same issue that I had before. Despite my skepticism, I fixed it. Over $1K.. in addition to the thousands of dollars I'd already spent. Also, I paid to have the car FULLY checked out... a complete top to bottom check up for any other issues so when I went on a year-long assignment to Turkey my spouse would know the car was in good condition. It came back A-okay, with the exception of a few things I took care of before I left (new tires, oil change, etc.). So I left my family with a completely fixed car, and not a month after I left my wife takes it in because the engine light came back on again, but now they say a head gasket had blown and they have to replace the motor for $7.5K... that there was coolant dripping for quite awhile, which ruined the engine, hence the need to replace the engine. However, I paid to ensure the car was good before I left. The car was worth around $7K, less than the repairs and I'd already put in $5K into the car, so I said we'll trade it in. They said, okay no problem. I texted the representative, and she responded that someone would "be in touch," and I didn't hear back for 5 days. When I reached out, she then responded on behalf of the person that was supposed to reach out to me that the car was only worth $500 trade, after I have put over $5K into a vehicle at their facility for a problem that was never actually fixed while they also said my car was in great condition. She also said the car didn't run, which it did when we dropped it off. And they said I would also have to buy another vehicle through them for this trade. They then began calling my wife to ask when we'd pick up the vehicle off their lot when they realized I wasn't interested in that trade. I am stationed in Turkey for the military. How am I going to buy a car while in another country? I didn't want my wife to have to deal with it, so we donated it to Vehicles for Veterans. They SOLD it for $3.7K. And yes, it was running, and we drove off with it from the dealership. We were clear in the donation process on the vehicle's condition, yet it still sold for $3.7K, which makes me wonder what on earth Toyota was seeing. The lack of customer service after we have poured so much into that location is appalling. To be ghosted, dismissed, and jerked around is frustrating. I will never work with or through this dealership again. //BREAK// Previous Review: This is the second time I've used Ackerman Toyota. What allows me to give them a 5-star review was their willingness to reach out to other Toyota dealerships to see what work has already been done so I didn't have to dish out more money into a failing A/C system for diagnostic testing. In the end my A/C fix cost me $1.6K, but Ackerman saved me more money than what I was originally offered four summers ago, and they didn't make me go through unnecessary testing (more Freon refill with dye, A/C charge). I went four St. Louis summers without A/C.... and Ackerman worked with me to get the best deal I could, and they also located the issue to why my engine light kept coming on (everywhere else I took it to couldn't find the issue and said my car was fine). While they did the work they gave me a loaner car. Overall, great experience. No one ever wants to spend so much on a car, but the work they did was great and they were easy to work with. read more

Brought my car in for service and they gave me a "free car wash" and i bought my black out kit from them for my sr5. The car wash made my car so dirty. I brought it back and they said "well it's a free car wash, don't accept a free car wash". Keep in mind I just bought a 2021 sr5 premium that receives free car washes with service. This is a perk they advertise. After asking the employees name for this review the manager came out the door after me in a forceful rude manor. I did not catch his name but it's 11am on a Monday. Three Times a Charm!! This is my third purchase form Ackerman and I can say I am pleased!! I wanted to upgrade my Rav4 and Randall was such a great help! I wasn't sure if I wanted another Rav4 or a Highlander, but he helped make my day fast and painless! I told him what I wanted on my new Rav4 and he helped me explore all of my options. He didn't try to sale me the 2020 Rav4 but helped me choose the best fit for me and allowed me to chose the best model that would work for me. I bought the 2019 Corolla from Ackerman. Randall Yu was great. He showed us a 2018 used model and the 2019. He helped us get to a price and compare the two. He had a lot of enthusiasm and he made the car shopping more enjoyable. You could tell he cared about getting a car I would be happy with. Ackerman gives you 5 years of maintenance (an additional year to Seeger) and everyone we interacted with was knowledgeable and friendly.
