I went to this place before I did my research and found other places that were much better and friendlier in Waukegan. They told me they were booked up for two weeks. I waited the two weeks and went to get my system installed in my car. When I pulled up everything seemed fine. It was a younger guy doing the install. But the energy was weird. So I'm sitting in the waiting area and the guy comes out and says "Hey I've got to go to a doctor's appointment. I need to leave. So he pulls my car out, slams the rollup door, hops in in his truck and burns rubber getting out of there. Meanwhile I'm sitting in my car like what's this guys problem. Then I realized what it was. I'm not gonna say what it was. If you don't know, then leave it to your imagination. But I know. I can sense when someone does not like you and you have not done anything to them. That was situation. This guy was mad. Upset. Pissed. So a month or so later my install is coming apart because time was not taken for it to be done properly. So I call the same shop and this time I got the guy I dealt with last time's dad on the phone. I told him my wires were coming apart he said he'd fix it. When I got to the shop, I told him what happened with the last guy and he says oh that's my son. He acts like that when he's hungry. Oh really? So hunger makes him act like an active shooter huh? Very interesting. Look I get that I moved to a place where the fairer skinned people really don't seem to like minorities very much and it shows. But this is a warning for any black or brown person who visits this shop. They DO NOT want your business and you will know it when you walk in. read more

I had gone to 3 other local shops and these guys were by far the most professional of the shops I visited. I had purchased a 98 Corvette as a weekend cruiser and the aftermarket stereo it came with was all out of sorts. My pop up headlights were also non functioning. Daniel explained everything, provided recommendations and kept in touch throughout the process. He replaced what was necessary and fixed what could be salvaged. I came to Audiosmith with the hope to replace my stock subwoofer and casette player (replaced with Bluetooth) that came with my '99 Lexus LS400. The biggest thing I wanted with the project was to leave as much of the stock system and wiring in as possible in case I wanted to go and sell the car so I could then keep the sub and Bluetooth adapter for a different vehicle. I brought my situation to Dan Lytle and he sat there and walked me through step by step what he would be doing. I was not an easy customer because I was very particular with what I wanted. Dan was more than happy to oblige all of my requests. I am more than happy with the results of the project and have a nice base system in place. Really top notch work and at a very good price. I'm going back for remote start and alarm with gps tracking after having my garbage factory sound system replaced with a very good aftermarket system. Better than Best Buy and better priced. Don't get me wrong, Best Buy does a decent job but doesn't have the expertise in more customized installs. So the product itself is actually very good. Once it was installed, the radio worked great and connected perfectly with my speakers, television and Bluetooth. But wow are these guys disorganized! I went in for a 915 appointment, and began to wait. After a while they told me that the radio had not come in from UPS yet. Worse than that, they had torn apart my dashboard so I had to wait, and wait, and wait. More than three hours later I finally got to go home. For that trouble I received a $20 discount. Audiosmith took my car and installed DroneMobile in under 2 hours, now I can start my car/unlock/lock the doors from my cell phone or computer anywhere, and they were way less expensive than other places, and I trusted them because they were very confident about doing it on a German car. I remember 1st coming here I felt welcomed and helped with my needs. Even if I wasn't doing anything that same day or scheduling a day I still felt helped to the full potential. I decided to give Dan a call that I wanted to move forward with what I had in mind and scheduled some time to come back to drop off my car. When I arrived they started working on my car right away and how long will it take for time for me isn't a thing for these kind of jobs since they are patient and get the job done right the 1st time. I've approximately been here at least 5-6 times getting work done to my car. I will keep coming back here with more needs and more people to bring here since I want the people that I know to get the same pleasant experience I've had with these guys. I've had the following done: Big 3 Upgrade, new Double Din Sony head-unit, Door Speakers, 0Gauge Wiring, Subwoofers, 2 Amplifiers tunes correctly to give me the maximum output I need for quality sound. They have the best recommendations when it comes to different brands and are very creative when it comes to building something out of scratch. I wanted to upgrade the poor sounding stock radio in my 2011 Tacoma so I shopped around at the big box stores and some audio stores, all of which was a waste of time. At the big box stores they didn't know much about their products and couldn't care less if I bought one or not. At the audio stores they really didn't listen to what I wanted and tried to up sell me. After reading the yelp reviews for Audiosmith I gave them a try and was very very pleased. Daniel was professional, curious and knowledgeable!! I told him I just wanted a better sounding radio with no extra stuff on it and better sounding speakers! He showed me the perfect radio and speakers that would meet my needs with no up sell!! After he installed the radio he brought me back to the shop to listen to the sound quality without the new speaker installed and it sounded great! He said that the new speakers would be better but not much better and recommended that I leave the old speakers in, That saved me $200.00!! My father was desperately in search of someone who could finally fix the fuse box and printed board and overall electronics in his limousine the right way. For years, he had never been able to find someone to truly fix it all and not be a rip off. The big break recently happened when He was referred to Audiosmith to Bill Lytle. My father was expecting to continue having the same issues because no one else has ever been able to actually deliver on fixing the problems. In just 4 hours, Bill completely fixed every issue perfectly to my father's amazement. He was able to fix everything that for years no one else could. He deserves so much credit for being able to go in and fix the mess that other places had created with the electronics of the limo. He also charged an extremely reasonable price to fix everything. A helluva lot less than the other guys who ripped him off and he actually fixed everything and was honest and thorough. I would not recommend this audio shop to ANYONE! Stay Away!! I have had to jump start my car around 50x my new battery has to be shot! So Audio Smith in Fox Lake at Grand & Rt. 12 DO NOT GO TO EVER!! 1st of all getting taken advantage of getting charged $800 for a simple 2 Amp system install but to get my car back with a broken trim piece & not even getting told he broke it. I notice 3 days later, I call him about it and he admits to breaking it but offers to replace the trim piece free of labor cost if I pay for the replacement part he broke! Are you kidding me charge me for a part "HE" BROKE!! In his defense after calling him twice he ordered the trim piece off e bay free of charge. The original 2 amp install was $600 but after having to jump start my car almost everyday I go back and he test my battery, it comes back normal. He suggests replacing the head unit with another, so I do!! Still the same problem but charges me another $250.00 Ok so now a year later I finally take my car to a different audio shop! Getting sick of the random times I have to jump my car! They figure out why my car keeps having a slow drain! It turns out to be a simple fix! The aftermarket climate control kit is defective! They can fix it with a simple part but have to take the stereo head unit out to do it! So not even 10 minutes in taking stuff apart the guy grabs me to show me behind the stereo. Almost every clip is broke the CD pocket compartment is broke he ghetto fixed it with screws to hold his mistake together! Its simple clips all cars have! You have to be careful its fragile parts! Plus he scratched my trim not using the right pry tools! You should know that being a professional audio shop! It's simply careless! It's not like he was rushed! I left my car from 8-4pm so he could do it right!! Basically the guy here is going to try to fix it but no guarantee since everything is so busted!! read more
