Dr. Gail Linn performed a very thorough hearing test and fitted me with Phonak hearing aids. She thoroughly explained the test results and said that my actual hearing loss was fairly minimal. I loved the Phonak technology and found that they were comfortable and discreet to wear. I got some benefit from hearing higher pitched sounds but found they were not much help in understanding what people were saying. Over the next six weeks I saw Dr. Linn several times and she made adjustments to try to improve their usefulness. My insurance company covers the full cost of the hearing aids but I was concerned that I might purchase them and then not use them very much. Dr. Linn agreed and advised me to wait. She felt I was getting insufficient benefit to waste my health care dollars on them at this time. Given my age (71) she felt I might get more benefit from them in a few years if my hearing deficit continues to worsen. I felt she gave me excellent advice and was very comfortable with this decision. Dr. Linn was not only very competent and experienced but also very honest and ethical. She could have gone ahead and sold me the hearing aids but instead had my best interests at heart. She is, without a doubt, one of the best medical advisors I have seen. She always communicated very clearly with me and I felt that she gave me the best possible assessment and advice. I recommend her very highly and should I have continued hearing loss in the future, will definitely return to Potomac Audiology to see her.

Buyer Beware: Incredibly Frustrating Experience…read more Do not go here! My entire saga with Family Hearing Center was a nightmare from the start. It began when they sent me what turned out to be inaccurate information about my insurance benefits. The staff told me what my deductible was and how much I had spent toward it, except they got it wrong. They told me I'd owe thousands of dollars out of pocket when, in reality, I'd already hit my out-of-pocket maximum and shouldn't have owed anything if I'd purchased from them. It's unbelievable that a place specializing in hearing services could be so careless with basic insurance details. I chose them specifically because they were in-network with my insurance -- big mistake. On the day of my appointment, things somehow got worse. The specialist brought me into the hearing aid fitting room and was shockingly unprepared. She immediately said she needed to call my insurance to "log in," and once she had a representative on the phone, it became painfully clear she didn't know how to use my insurance's online portal -- the very system needed to order my hearing aid. Instead of handling this privately, she argued with the insurance rep right in front of me on speaker, saying things like "Could you make this harder?" It was uncomfortable and unprofessional, and honestly, it seemed like she had never used the portal before. In the end, I spent nearly an hour sitting there while the specialist fumbled with the insurance. Between the inaccurate benefit quote and the total lack of professionalism, I finally had enough -- I walked out. Save yourself the headache -- go literally anywhere else.

Dr. Karen Myers has been my primary care provider for over 12 years, and I would not hesitate to…read morerecommend her to anyone. She is simply the best, most caring and thorough doctor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She always listens and helps me follow up with all of my concerns, and I trust her implicitly. Furthermore she takes time to fully explain any and all of my tests, including bloodwork and various tests completed by my other doctors. I never walk out of her office without a copy of results as well as her suggestions for various products or specialty doctors. Several of the comments here include Dr. Myers along with other doctors but only give 4 stars. Dr. Myers, however, should be reviewed separately, as she only deserves 5 or more stars. Lastly, the office has a relatively new administrative assistant at the front desk, a gentleman who is a absolutely a pleasure to encounter and wonderful at following up.

Sadly, I have to temporarily update my review in the hopes that the doctors of the office will…read morereconsider the road they are on; make staffing changes and care orientation changes; and resume accepting insurance. As far as Dr. Mills goes, I understand how some other reviewers could give her a negative rating, because she does have a certain way about her that can be misinterpreted. But she really is smart and great, it's just the practice's increased emphasis on cost-cutting and speed, and her trying to increase productivity as others seem to tell her is better, when it is not, and she is better than that. The change in reviews here and on other websites over time is noticeable, where people used to talk about how great the doctors, including Dr. Mills were, and how much time Dr. Mills spent with patients and really caring for and about patients, while newer reviewers talk about how quick and curt she seems. I believe it is a function of someone telling her that is how to increase productivity, and (thought some of the staff are really good and nice) because she has certain staff that have no care for the patient and only want to rush patients, and even rush Dr. Mills. Being a primary doctor is calling, and the relationship that patients have with their GPs is much different then with other doctors. Dr. Mills has the ability to be one of the great ones, but she has to follow her caring soul, and not what her staff say or what she is told will make more money. Dr. Mills and the other doctors also need to recognize that staff should not be able to run the direction of the practice or treatment of patients as some do. Things are only worse for many of us, since they stopped taking insurance and charging well above insurance allotments. Again, somebody must have convinced Dr. Mills that was a way to make more money - likely staff who did not want to deal with billing codes - but it is not. Some offices cut their prices after stopping to take insurance, but this office charges more. Most people just cannot afford to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for basic doctors visits, and in the end, we all go to less doctors visits and get less medical care than than we need, and they get less patients then they need. It's a lose-lose. So, I would encourage you to still try Dr. Mills, but encourage her to be her caring self, and take time, and not be rushed by staff who seem to control things, and not to make the practice an assembly line. Care for patients, take insurance, spend the time, be nice - and everyone will profit in money, happiness and soul. Original Review from 8/19/2016: This practice and Dr. Jennifer Mills is fantastic in many ways! I could write a long review, but I will let the overall assessment, based upon years of experience, stand for itself. We traveled from Bethesda to Washington Hospital Center specifically for those appointments. After we arrived, we were told that only my appointment existed. The staff then informed my wife that she had supposedly been removed from the practice because of an unspecified incident from about 10 years ago. No one could explain what had happened or why she had never been informed before we made the trip. I questioned why this had not been addressed before we drove into Washington and why no one could provide a clear explanation. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or apologizing for the confusion, the response became even more troubling. Although I had a scheduled appointment, Dr. Kruzrok came out personally and told me that he would not be seeing me either. From my perspective, my appointment was canceled because I respectfully stood up for my wife and questioned how we had been treated. Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath? Rather than provide the medical care I had traveled there to receive, Dr. Kruzrok chose not to see me. That decision was deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, inconsistent with the professionalism and compassion patients should expect from a physician. The issue here is bigger than one doctor. It reflects a culture of poor communication, lack of accountability, and disregard for patients' time. We rearranged our day, traveled into Washington, D.C., and left without either of us receiving the care we had scheduled. I found Dr. Kruzrok's demeanor to be smug and self-righteous, and his handling of this situation fell far short of what I expect from a physician. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in either Dr. Kruzrok or MedStar Health, and I cannot recommend either.

When we arrived, we were told that only my husband's appointment existed. The staff claimed they had left me a message canceling my appointment, but I never received any voicemail. They then informed me that I had been "dismissed from the practice" because of an alleged incident from 10 years ago, yet no one could explain what that incident was or provide any details. My husband understandably questioned why both appointments had not been honored after we made the trip. Just before he was called back, I turned to him and said, "I bet you $100 they won't see you either." Two minutes later, Dr. Kruzrok came out personally and told my husband he would not be seen. From my perspective, my husband was denied care simply because he stood up for himself and questioned how we had been treated. Instead of addressing what appeared to be a scheduling failure and communicating professionally, the practice chose to refuse care altogether. Patients deserve honesty, transparency, and respect. We invested our time, rearranged our schedules, and traveled to the appointment, only to be met with contradictory explanations, a vague reference to an unexplained event from a decade ago, and a complete refusal to provide the scheduled care. This was one of the most unprofessional healthcare experiences I have ever had. Dr. Kruzrok's handling of this situation reflected a shocking lack of professionalism and respect for patients. From reading reviews from other patients, for this doctor, mine does not seem like an isolated incident, but rather a pattern of behavior. Based on my experiences, MedStar Health has consistently provided some of the worst healthcare service I have encountered, and this incident only reinforced that opinion. I cannot recommend either this physician or this practice.
