He has an unimaginably deep knowledge of optimal matching of equipment for the best sound and value. Always gives great explanations of how stuff works, and no rushing me when I'm auditioning equipment. He often has access to amazing used equipment that might not be in the showroom at the time. Decided to take the plunge on vinyl, and stopped by Audio Video Therapy after doing a lot of reading online. While it helped that I had given myself some vocabulary ahead of time, Scott was incredibly thorough in explaining things, so point in favor number one is the amount of knowledge this team will share with you. Second point is the variety of equipment across all price points. Could I have saved a few bucks by going next door to Best Buy? Sure, but if you're going to invest in hi-fidelity, you should go somewhere that specializes in it. Third thing is I came in towards the bottom of their equipment range, and Scott didn't care. I felt like I got the same service I would have received if I was spending 20x as much (which you totally could, but I'm just getting started, so baby steps, right?). Ended up purchasing an amp, some bookshelf speakers, and a turntable. Very happy I chose to come here, highly recommend. read more

Just leaving the store, and I have to say that I am completely blown away by the OUTSTANDING customer service. You're treated like family the moment you walk-in. The selection is amazing, uncomparable to anything else. Audio Video Therapy makes the Best Buy next door look like the McDonald's of electronics, while setting themselves apart as a homemade burger made from a freshly slaughtered, pesticide free, free range cow of your choice, then prepared by Gordan Ramsey, whilst using ingredients flown from the 4 corners of the globe on a private jet flown by John Travolta; yeah, it's that good. I've been going to this store for two years now and made three great purchases at a very good price. The true power of this shop is being taken care of and educated by a great team of specialists. They will spend the time to go over different system pieces, let you listen to a whole bunch of setups and allow you to sit, listen, absorb and ask if you have any other questions. Selection is fantastic, prices are great and they make sure you are satisfied with your purchase by allowing you to return and exchange pieces if need be. I walked into the store last Friday accompanied by my wife, who is most certainly not an audiophile. I was greeted by Nina. I told her up front that I was not going to be buying anything that day and that truly was my intention. Nina gave us the tour of the store, played some music that I chose and was as pleasant and even more important, as a competent as one could ask for. In my journey around the store I spotted a pair of KEF LS-50s on a shelf and mentioned that I would like to hear them, if possible, though again I stressed that I wan't buying anything on this trip. I just wanted to check out the store. Nina hauled the speakers into a room that had an amp comparable to mine and set up the KEFs. I listened to the last movement of the Mahler 2nd symphony - the whole thing. That takes patience on the part of anyone just wanting to sell something! At the end I simply said "I'll take a pair." I truly had no intention of buying but the entire experience at the shop, with absolutely no sales pressure and not even a subtle attempt to "close" me made it really easy for me to make a decision. The quality of the product and even more the courtesy and willingness to go out of their way on the part of the staff are what sold me. The LS-50s are in my listening room now and I had no idea I could hear sound like that from my modest system. I will go back to Audio Visual Therapy for that much needed analog front end upgrade. Meant to write this earlier. I went here back in January to shop for my first "real" audio system. The owner was extremely knowledgeable, not the least bit pushy, and very patient as I listened to various speakers with various test tracks that I had brought with me on two separate days. In the end I bought an amp, two front speakers, and cabling, and I have been very happy with my purchase. The store carries speakers from several manufacturers across a wide range of price points, which was great for me because I had no idea how good my ears were relative to my wallet. I quite enjoyed listening to some $12K speakers on their top floor but I decided that I got the best bang for my buck at $2K. They had some in the few-hundred-dollar range too. They are also conveniently located next to a Best Buy in case you want to go down one more price level. read more

I first stopped in a couple of years ago. My buddy used to be in the speaker industry, and knew John Rein for an incredibly long time.... So I thought I would stop by and check it out. First purchases were headphone-related. Bought a nice little Bellari tube amp, and some cabling. Following purchases included my beloved Bryston BHA-1 headphone amp/ preamp, Oppo player, and PrimaLuna tube preamp. I have usually always gotten a great deal here. The used section is usually things that are on consignment... So not a ton of wiggle-room on pricing. Some headphones are also fixed on price, such as the Audeze selection among others. My Bryston purchase took a long time to get, without much notice on when it would arrive. Besides that, this is a great shop. Mark and John are great. They have a well devised digital domain, in which Blusound nodes are offered in almost every room to demo a wide variety of music from their ripped catalog and Tidal. Brands are top notch -- NAD, Bryston, B&W, Nordost to name a few. Big ticket items are usually ordered upon purchase, so there is some waiting time (expected with a non big-box store). Also, Hours are convenient to come after work. They definitely have more people in the shop now. Power to them! Though, stick with Mark and John to get the absolute best service. This used to be ensemble music and home theater and was one of the best audio places where you could spend a reasonable amount for truly high end audio equipment. At the time they rebuilt my McIntosh MC30s and helped me put together an incredible system. They are one of the best in the Northeast and I am really glad that they are stronger than ever. read more

As soon as I walked in the door, the owner John greeted me and we talked about what I was looking for (high end headphones). Unlike other experiences I've had at other high end audio stores, John took the time to sit me down and set me up to listen for as long as I wanted. I have dealt with the Owner - John - for a number of years, he use to be with the now closed Ensemble / New England Home Theater that was further down on Daniel Webster Hwy. After it closed he opened up this shop. He cares quality brands, is knowledgeable, fair on pricing, and gives excellent customer service. In the high end audio - customer service is critical and Audio Video Therapy delivers. As an example, I had purchased something from the previous store, a couple of years earlier, and from a different sales person but a brand that AV therapy now carries and when I needed help with a warranty issue, John helped me out without hesitation and without charge. read more

Seemed very capable over the phone and when I visited in person where I was assisted by 2-3 people on Feb 21. Discussed my application which was either adding onto or supplementing an existing home audio system. They sent a tech to my house the next day on Feb 22 to take notes and check out the layout, existing equipment, etc and promised a proposal with a few options. I called asking about the proposal on Feb 26 and was told that I should have it on Tuesday Mar 1. I emailed on Wednesday Mar 9 inquiring again with no response. I called on Saturday Mar 12 and was told that I would receive a call back within 30 minutes, but no luck. Then I emailed again on Monday Mar 14 and I still have received no response as of Thursday Mar 17. Perhaps my project wasn't large enough for their business model or perhaps they are so busy that they don't have time to make a courtesy phone call. Either way, I recommend avoiding this business. Don't waste your precious time. Believe it or not, you'll probably get better service from the clueless pimple-faced kid next door at the big box store. read more

Don't bother. In early December of 2015, after scheduling an in-home consultation for a flat screen TV and a sound bar installation with some peripheries, I took that day off to accommodate the visit. Nobody showed up. I rescheduled. John Rein came by and reassured that the project will be easy to complete but due to their "busy schedule" they will not be able to do the installation until about 2 weeks after the New Year. I agreed. It's a busy time of year. John was rather quick during his visit. After he left and as the time went on - I had some questions about the equipment, etc. that I addressed to him via e-mail. He responded to a couple of them, but with some delays. When I sent him my final "wrap up"email and asked to schedule the job for whatever date they had open after the holidays - he never got back to me again. May be my project was not big enough? Why would a business person fail to respond to a job scheduling request? I am actually glad that he did not - I ended up finding a fabulous company that helped me to achieve my goal in the most professional and customer-oriented manner. I was in the market for an in-ceiling home theater system and decided to put some quotes together. I was looking at TVs at Bestbuy and since I was there I had the Magnolia guys price out some equipment and installation. I literally walked out the door from Bestbuy and into AV Therapy right next door. I was shocked when the owner John Rein was able to cut the labor rate on the Magnolia quote in HALF!! The guy that came to install was super nice, and was working from 10am to like 8pm. If i could post pictures of how sick the system looks, i would!
