I love Audio! I have no idea why I didn't find this poppin' spot sooner!! I came here for Hotel Garuda (02/28/15) and after reading some of my fellow Yelper's reviews, I planned accordingly to arrive right when doors opened (9:30PM) so my friends and I could avoid paying for cover (more than $10..?). You can also buy tickets online to be safe and come by after 11PM - only $10! It was a bit weird though because the bouncers couldn't find my name on GL and I swear I RSVP'ed through the website and the app Guest List Nation (you guys should totally check it out - amazing!). Nonetheless, I got in when I showed them the app... Since we were the first people there, it was super empty and the opener was chillin' but all of a sudden there was a flood of people upstairs - I can totally see why people should definitely line up early!) The main floor is upstairs and from there you can find the bathroom and bar to the right; dance floor straight ahead. Lemme just take a second to let y'all know that the bathroom is HELLA nice and clean (for the girls, I have no idea what's up with the dudez) and the lady working there is SUPER nice. I can't remember her name but she worked that Saturday night! And the bartenders are super friendly - they accept American Express here (YAAAYYY)! It's kind of a bummer they don't have salt for tequila shots, but my friend & I toughed it out =] You can go back downstairs too to access Bergerac and that place is a good place to chill if you need to relax for a bit/ grab a quick drink since the bar is bigger. The sound system to this place is soooo amazingggg. Probably my favorite all of SF. First of all, I just wanna say that I wasn't drunk, that only one person was drunk. He simply fell asleep on the couch, WHICH WE PAID TABLE SERVICE FOR, but our WHOLE PARTY got kicked out!!!!! We ordered THREE BOTTLES, which costed us over $1300. This is ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE. Temple, a close club nearby only will kick us out when we start to puke out. Audio clearly said that they need to clear our table to sell it to someone else, but once outside they told us that it's because we're drunk. Which is it??? This is entirely unacceptable. Audio was so-so. The club is pretty cool inside, music was good, and drinks are the average (overpriced and served by bartenders who don't really care). The queue was ridiculously long, but we had fun once we got in. It's been awhile since we went so I'd be open to going again at some point. TLDR - female friend gets assaulted, security gives the guy a pat on the back Some dude grabbed my female friend's butt. It wasn't an accidental brush. He literally reached over and grabbed himself a handful. I reported it to a security guy. He nodded but seemed more interested in getting people to finish their drink. Fifteen minutes later, it was obvious that he'd forgotten about it, so I approached another security guy who was just standing at the edge of the dancefloor. He followed me, I pointed out the offending dude. Then the security guy went over, chatted with him for a minute, patted him on the shoulder, aaaand... THAT WAS IT????!! In my opinion, that's not the right way to handle the situation. The guy was obviously drunk/high off his mind and had just assaulted a female patron. He needed to be escorted out of the venue, not given a pat on the back! I'd ask you to to contact me for details or clarification, but I've left the above note on your Facebook page, private messaged your FB account, and called/left voicemail, and nobody has gotten back to me, so it's fairly safe to assume that your club does not care to provide a safe environment for women to party in. I thought my clubbing days were over..... Apparently not on this night - I went there for an event and had lots of fun. I was hanging out with the event organizer early on and didn't have to wait in line. We worked with the manager of the club to make sure our event went smoothly. I love that the coat room was right when you walked into the club, some places had coat rooms which you had to hunt for. Everyone from the bouncers to the coat check girl had smiles on their faces and were really friendly. I'm not really into house music, but they played deep house and when in Rome...I managed to get out there and dance a bit. The sound system was very good and it wasn't just super loud music that made your ears ring, it was just right for my sensitive ears. The crowd wasn't too douchey, but then again, our group of 30+ people were enough to buffer me from the douches that were on the peripheral of our group. Somehow we ended up at the downstairs bar and they played old school hip hop which woke up our group and we had an even better time there than upstairs. read more

I've been clubbing in SF for over 20 years and have been to most of the venues here. This is by far the worst venue I've ever attended here in SF. First of all the sound is piercing loud. It's hard to hear or be heard earplugs or not which you definitely need. Even when I ordered from the bartender he said sorry it's so loud tonight so I had to speak super loud several times. The layout of the venue is terrible. It's too wide and shallow and so packed it's hard to move around. The security people are rude and I've never seen any thing like it at any club ever in SF or anywhere for that matter. I carry a small nylon bag that fits in my jeans pocket which I put my light weight jacket in when it gets hot and I take it off and throw it in and put the bag on my back or over my shoulder. It's not bulky and does not block people around or behind me its so thin and small. I've used it for years in so many clubs and music events as do many people. Well the security lady made her way to the front of the dance floor with attitude and told me I need to check it. My friends all looked at her like WTF. I took out my light weight jacket put it on and put the little bag in my pocket. She looked astonished like I did a magic trick. The people around me laughed at her and my partner said she has some mental issue. Needless to say I will never recommend this club or go back there again. FYI I was not drunk and very compliant and polite with the security lady. So many good venues in SF but this place is the worst IMHO. read more

Since the club opened, they have been getting better about not holding up the line as obnoxiously. There have been times where I've gotten in without any wait, and others where I've had to wait 30 minutes for around 20 people. The bouncers were definitely more civil that some other SF clubs like Ruby Skye. The layout of the space is nice and open, and usually doesn't get overly crowded. Probably one of the nicest looking clubs in SF. Some people might knock the club for not playing big room house all of the time, but I respect the bookings they've been shooting for recently (Hot since 82, Amtrac, Fehrplay, James Zabiela, etc.). Definitely more creative and rewarding sets than your typical beatport top 10 garbage you'll hear at some of the other SF clubs. Plus they almost always have a free guest list, just get there early! The only thing about this club that I really do not care for is how loud they crank their sound system. It's a bit obnoxious and after a certain volume you lose all the dynamic range of a song... but alas this is common ground for clubs so just don't forget to bring a pair of quality ear plugs! read more

SERVICE + Audio didn't open until 10pm, so the security guards said that we can go into Bergerac while we waited - It was so crowded, the 3 bartenders were super busy and it was hard to get their attention @ Bergerac + Lots of seating areas @ Bergerac + Security was suuuuper nice and fair. Stern to those who were misbehaving, but accommodating to those who were on guest list / re-entering. - They only serve Lagunitas IPA @ Audio?? No other beer? :( + We were allowed to sit in the VIP areas while they weren't being used CROWD + Very diverse crowd, but I feel like it was 80% guys and 20% girls + No dress code. Some people were dressed up, some were wearing nikes and t-shirts. - Towards the end of the night, people started becoming very pushy and annoying (expected, of course but these people were not being handled by security) OTHER + I used the Guest List Nation app to RSVP, but my name didn't show up on their guest list. However, the security guy was kind enough to let us in. We got there really early, so maybe he was in a good mood. + The sound system is sooooooo good, very crisp and clear + I like how the venue is small and intimate + Well-ventilated, THANK YOU!!! The fans in combination with the AC prevented it from being too hot and sweaty + Easily found street parking. It's kinda sketchy though, I would put all my belongings out of sight, just in case MUSIC + I've been here to see Hotel Garuda (2/8/15) and Autograf (6/6/15). Great sound and some of the staff was really nice, but overall once you get in the venue, that changes. It seems like all the bar-backs, bottle girls, and security are all trained to use flashlights to get around and we ended up with a strobe light in our face every 2 minutes. Totally understand the need to get around and why a flashlight may be needed, but in most venues they point it at the ground so it's not so abrasive. Here they use the same tactic, but they differ in that they hold bright, strobing flashlights at eye level and get really rude and pushy when you don't move out of the way. I totally get being frustrated if people aren't responding, but the space was so packed that you're limited in your ability to move and they don't give you much time. read more

For a San Francisco club from an LA perspective this place was really fun. I rarely find clubs in SF that are worth frequenting, the bars are usually a much better scene in SF... I loved the simple things- they had a quick way to get in, get stamped and pay for your entrance in an organized manner. There was a coat check. Like I said sometimes the simple things make me happy. The house music was awesome the night we went (I would give it five stars) The dj that night was named funka something. I love how they list all the future djs on a board by the entrance/exit. There is also a more low key bar downstairs with comfy couches and high top tables incase you aren't into the loud music. Good job Audio. Pretty good venue to see a DJ. Staff is friendly, and the bartenders are able to crank drinks out quickly (to varying degrees of quality). My main complaint is the layout; it's horrible. There's no real flow to speak of and they have way too much space being occupied by tables, etc. It gets really congested during a busy show, and trying to make it to one of the bars from the middle of the dance floor is almost not worth it. If they did a quick remodel and opened things up a bit more, I think they have a chance to really take their game to the next level. read more

Pretty cool club. The lighting is pretty fantastic with the dance floor being sunken and the surrounding stairs lit up. Also an infinity mirror behind the DJ booth made for a great visual experience. Came here with a friend for a girls night out. The place was smaller but you can go downstairs to a more lounge area which was nice. I live in Chicago and don't remember the last time I had to pay a $20 cover to get into club, so I'm taking off a star for that. I love the setup of this club! It's a big circle, so it's great for socializing. The dance floor is in the center, and what defines it are two stairs that lead to a split level where the DJ is at the north end, there are two full bars are on the east and west side, and the entrance is South. During the day the skylights light up the whole room and at night there's a bunch of cool lights in the buttons of the upholstered walls and vortex looking thing behind the DJ booth. I loved this past Sunday party. The deep house DJ's were awesome, like Matrixxman. The location is a plus. it's within walking distance away from the central part of Hayes Valley, which has become one of my favorite places to eat and drink in the city. Such a great, intimate venue. I was so impressed with the setup and layout. Sound quality was also excellent. Bass was a little loud, but nothing that couldn't be undone with decibel-reducing ear buds (as we do with all concerts!). The bouncers and staff were all very pleasant. A few of the bartenders were a little snippy, but that can be expected as well. The only recommendation I would make would be to bring a water station to both levels of the venue - the main stage is upstairs and the only water they served was downstairs. read more

Saw Mija perform last Friday night. It was a sold out show so it was pretty packed aka super hot and steamy inside. We were lucky enough to find a spot where you could feel the fans so we were good! Drinks are standard club prices, no surprise there. Sound system is AWESOME so that's a plus! Tip: If the bathroom line is too long, just head downstairs and use that one! Audio consistently books great DJs. Their sound system is incredible. The drinks aren't too pricey & the bartenders have always been nice to me. I used to go so often (almost every weekend) one of the girls knew me by name but I have since moved back to Miami. It's not super huge so expect it to be hot in there. Venue and music are usually good. Went there a week ago and the bartender was rude and visibly frustrated when I had to reopen my tab. I understand that I should have kept my tab open (I wasn't entirely sure what my plans were looking like within the next hour so I initially closed out). After closing out my card the second time at the end of the night I noticed a sizable corner was forcibly snapped off my debit card to the point where the digital tap option no longer works. I don't know how that could even happen accidentally so I can only assume it was the bartender having a laugh. Not the friendliest bunch of people in general. Been here twice now, once at morning and once at night. Much different experience between the two - the morning Daybreaker party is light, fun, and a happy atmosphere, while the regular nighttime scene is your usual dark club with loud music. Audio is little on the small side when compared with other dance clubs in the city, but the sound system makes up for the size. Great quality sound wherever you are in the room. The overall flow can get bunched up on the outer rim of the dance floor, so the bars in opposite corners pulls some of that crowd away from the door (and bathrooms). It all depends on what you're into, because the music varies night to night - as with any club, your experience will vary greatly on this. It's a great space for dancing (if not too crowded) or just chilling out and doing some damage to your eardrums. Lights are nice, but nothing spectacular. Drinks are average price for SF (kinda pricey) but I didn't have any complaints about staff or quality. I would come here again if someone I like is playing. read more

Sound system - Really good since the venue is so small and intimate. Interior - Hot, stuffy, no air conditioning or air flow, and really small. Every time I come here, we are sardined to a tiny corner behind the VIP seating area. Bathroom - The ladies managing the stall don't care about anything. There was a girl that passed out on the floor and they pretended to not notice for a while until I pointed her out (even though this bathroom is the size of a closet) and had to ask if they could check in on the girl because she hadn't been moving for a while. Crowd - Kind of ratchet. Everyone was standing and walking ON the VIP seats for some reason. I wish someone would tell them that cushions were made for sitting, not walking. Drinks - They're OK. I can't tell if the bartenders were being sarcastic or friendly. Bergerac - I like that it's connected to Bergerac if you want to take a break from the no-AC and no-room-to-move venue and sit down. My group and I decided to go down after the coronavirus kept us locked in for so long. It was glad to see bars and nightclubs beginning to reopen but boy, was I mistaken. I did book bottle service at table number nine to be exact with a lady named BLAZEE. We got in the bottle service line which even though it moves fast there are a lot of people soliciting us trying to get to our table claiming that I just want to get in I'm not gonna have any of your alcohol. Anyway we got checked in right away and everything was going well. The first issue what is the menu for bottles. Blazee the host, texted me when I booked our bottle service and that menu had completely different prices from the one that I was given after seated at the table. They were able to honor it and we got our bottle. The table next to us which was unoccupied was just a haven for people to relax and leave trash. Random people kept walking over our table spilling our drinks and leaving their garbage even though I didn't have anyone else coming over to my table the rest of the evening. Here is where the fun really begins. There is absolutely zero security for the table areas. My party and I got up to use the restroom and we were gone no longer than four minutes. Upon returning, our bottle of kettle one vodka, which was over 80% full was gone. Another patron said some Hispanic woman grabbed it. I called back BLAZEE and explained to her the situation. She apologized and at first said I'll get you another bottle of vodka even though I was just wanting to head out of there. She then explained that it's late so she will take care of a bottle the next time we return, however I told her because of the poor experience I did not plan to return. All of a sudden a heavyset African-American woman came and yelled at us as I was speaking with BLazee claiming that I called her name and assaulted her or something. She was in a security uniform. I was dumbfounded due to the fact I was at my table the entire night the only time I got up was to use the restroom and that was just to help my friend out. BLazee then called security over and all of a sudden now three big guys are surrounding me and my group and we are getting kicked out. They also gave me my credit card back for a charge that I had never even authorized or signed for. In terms of the night club experience audio is a complete cesspool. They packed everybody in, there is no security, and it's just a free-for-all. At the very minimum I expect that people who are paying much more per bottle service at least some have some minimal form of security to watch over the table. What if somebody took the bottle and smash it over someone's head? I don't know but I will never be there again to find out the outcome. read more

Came here tonight to see Gene Harris and check out the Chicago deep house scene. Nice to see that this place gets a decent crowd early on before events. The venue itself is a single floor just up the stairs from the entrance. Two bars on each end of the room, with a raised dais for the DJ. Bathroom on the right end. Great lighting and intimate central dance area, with booths all along the walls. No frills here, y'all. Just a good old-fashioned place to get down with your fellow San Franciscans without the impersonal feel of a larger club. read more

I wish I could give them ZERO stars because that's what this place deserves. I used to like coming here, but not anymore after what happened. We paid $4 to check in our coats only to find out later that they had given away my boyfriend's jacket to some guy who tried to retrieve his jacket without a coatcheck ticket. The coatcheck guy basically asked that guy to describe what his jacket looked like and then gave a jacket to him, which actually belonged to my boyfriend. The coatcheck guy said he would take full responsibility for the lost jacket and we had this in writing. He and my boyfriend both signed the piece of paper. The manager of this club (Max) was also made aware of the incident. Why he left the coatcheck guy in charge of handling the situation, I don't know. Doesn't make any sense to me. The coatcheck guy emailed my boyfriend saying that a new jacket had been ordered and was waiting to be shipped. So, my boyfriend emailed him back (and cc:d the manager) asking for the order confirmation details. That was the end of it. No more responses from the business. Several more attempts to contact them were unsuccessful. This business is extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and IRRESPONSIBLE. They lied about handling the problem and they lied about ordering the jacket. What's worse is they knew they messed up and still blew it off. Just shows you what kind of people work there. They don't care about their customers - they only care about making money off of them. There are plenty of other nice venues in the city that will host my favorite DJs. Go enjoy music at those places instead. I am never coming back to this poorly managed piece of dump. What else is wrong with this place, aside from the coat check hot mess: 1. Line is a pain in the ass. Always long as hell. Same line for people who pre-purchased tickets vs those who were purchasing at the door. 2. Small venue, always packed, barely have space to breathe. 3. Poor ventilation - hot and stuffy 4.
