I'm not sure what to say... These guys installed a stereo (head unit, amp, crossover) back in 2017!! Yeah, ages ago. They were super expensive, and average to deal with. But here's the kicker - I just got my speakers updated a few weeks ago. The new vendor had to check all the connections. He told me that the last vendor (audio design) had reversed the wiring for the tweeters and mid-range. This would explain why the sound was meh for so long. I'm not an audiophile, and I have hearing problems. So, that probably explains why I was able to stand the poor audio. But now that I know, I'm super unimpressed. And yes, the new wiring / speaker setup is amazing. read more

The Worst Customer Service Experience I've Ever Had!!!! Wish I could give no stars. This level of service is completely unacceptable and reflects very poorly on Audio Design. This needs to be addressed immediately! I contacted Audio Design last week on August 7th to inquire about installing Apple CarPlay in my vehicle. I spoke with Javier, who took my information and confirmed that my vehicle was eligible for the installation. He mentioned that he needed to check if an additional part was required and scheduled an appointment for August 12th at 1 PM. On the day of the appointment, I called two hours in advance to confirm the address at Steven's Creek and Lawrence in Santa Clara. I arrived at 12:50 PM and was greeted by an unwelcoming receptionist. I informed her of my appointment, and she appeared disorganized, eventually telling me that Mike, the person I was supposed to meet, was in an "emergency meeting" with another customer. That could've been communicated beforehand. Is that what receptionists are for? She asked if I could wait and offered to seat me in their home theater, where she proceeded to give a lengthy sales pitch on their home systems and projectors--something I had no interest in. She inquired once more what I was there for and had initially thought I was there for a home system. After this, we returned to the front desk and she asked for my vehicle information again, despite already having collected it with Javier. This was frustrating, and it became clear that my initial call and appointment were poorly handled. Fifteen minutes past my scheduled appointment time, Javier finally arrived. She explained that he only handles calls and scheduling, while Mike is the sole person responsible for audio installations--yet he was busy with another customer. This lack of communication and coordination was infuriating. I made it clear that this was unacceptable. A simple courtesy call could have informed me of the delay, sparing me the time and frustration. The entire experience made me feel unimportant and disrespected as a customer. My time and commitment were not valued by Audio Design or its staff. I took time off from work to get this done. This level of service is completely unacceptable and reflects very poorly on Audio Design. This needs to be addressed immediately! read more

I ask for the installation fee and he said $1000 and I say it's kind a expensive is there any discount option for student and he told me if you don't have money why you bought the car. Mike was very patient through the whole process - never pressured me into anything. He's a walking encyclopedia of car and home audio equipment and cars / trucks in general. I purchased a SiriusXM radio in December 2021 for my friend at the Audio Design store on Stevens Creek Blvd for his 2007 Honda Civic, and paid well over $300 to have it installed. The entire experience was a nightmare. After purchasing the radio, we were told we would have to wait several weeks to have it installed, as the store had no technicians at that time. When the radio was finally installed we could tell that the work was done poorly, as the plastic panel protecting the wiring under the dash was left on the back seat, the radio was acting erratically, and It keep falling off of its holster. We brought it back to the store to get those obvious issues fixed, but problems persisted. The radio at one point just stayed on all the time and the tuning became frozen. That again was temporarily fixed via another visit, but recently the radio started going on and off again and became unusable. This time we were told that we would have to pay $200 just to have the issue diagnosed, as the radio was now "out of warranty." We decided to cut our losses and just go elsewhere to get a more qualified store and staff to either fix this radio, or start over and get a new one. I have had XM/Sirius radios in my own vehicles for the past 23 years and never had any of the problems we that we found at Audio Design. Please avoid this store! read more

Rear Camera Fix- Excellent. Another satisfied customer again. It's a lot of work to write these as I have to sit down and write it out instead of going to bed. But I expected that I was going to have to pay for getting my rear cam fixed yet it was under a warranty which I bought the install on my overseas camera set long ago. They fixed it in less than the estimated 45 minutes. The owner was nice too and had been with the company before he was an owner. They have done three of my cars so far and did a quality job and one was a car stereo, not just cams. Again, when money is tight, they came through and didn't cost me a dime on the fix. I came here to get new speakers and amp for my 2016 ecoboost convertible mustang . I could not hear my factory system on the freeway with my top down. Kurtis hooked me up with a kicker amp and 10 inch speaker box with radiator. Sounds great now. I have no problem hearing my stereo loud and clear on the freeway with my top down now. Audio design did an amazing job. We bought our daughter a used 1993 Land Cruiser. The components of the radio were extremely worn. Mike and his staff set up the car with a great alpine deck with a back up and forward camera. They fixed the speakers and replaced the 23 year old stock sub. My daughters car has a nicer radio than my new car. I am great full that my daughters going to have a sweet ride that's a lot safer. Also Mike makes led headlights that are so much better than stock! This is the place to be. Yess Sir.!!!! Ok I brought my 2012 PorschePanamera Turbo S for audio re-tuning of someone else's work. The setup was a recommendation from the dealer across the street. You see I went to another place on Bascom(AudioWerk) where the guys installed a "12 Sub with Rfosgate amp incorrectly and they thought it was fine when the system output was only @ 40%. My car originally has a Burmester 6,000$ Porsche factory upgrade system that has & controls the car speakers and amp as it cools itself dwn in about 5-6 songs playing @ the loudest....maybe getting hot too. Apparently if you want it not to shut off or get to only 50% power you have to know how to override this Porsche amp and install SUB-system that will now be in charge..in other words "hook it up just RIGHT".!! That's exactly what Mike did and I am soo Thankfull to him. !!! The AudioWerk shop is good apparently, that even some 49er players frequent there on occasion(that's what I hear,lol).and the shop of course takes pride in that.! But what they did on my Porsche sub install was "amateur-work"...that's what should be their name actually.. Mike hooked up my system from the measly 40% and took it to a 100% coz now when I drive around town with my sub people just look at my Panamera in disbelief like " how did you make it sound like that" I even get little sad that the shop on Bascom was gonna let me drive off with that sorry a*s power. I mean I feel my eyebrows and mouth moving up n dwn from theBASS.!! . Can you believe it..??Yesss It's that good.. Like I'm in the club loud.!! 50CENT man.!!! Ahaahhaa.!! Not a car audiophile, but have had 2 jobs done here over the last 10 years. Pretty simple stuff. Installing decks, installing amps new speakers, and wiring. Every single time I have called ahead and been able to get an apt immediately. And the asian dude who runs the place is super nice. Last Saturday was the same deal. My fiance was getting a bluetooth stereo deck installed in her car. It was only $120 with labor to get the mic, the deck, and the custom deck fitting installed. It look just over 60 minutes. I highly recommend Audio Design and will continue to come here whenever I have car audio needs. read more

I'm sure the shop is great, but the owner has no consideration of customers time. Mike, in response to your comment; I did ask if I should name an appointment the day prior. Your response was "you can, but i won't be working on the car anyway so just come in" You weren't with a customer; if that were so, I'd completely understand. You were with your partner. This is a 7-star review for the service that Mike and his team have provided to me over the past year while setting up my Dolby Atmos Home Theater + 2 ch. stereo system. About a year ago when I decided to upgrade my existing system, I made a decision to go with Paradigm Prestige series speakers, and I called and visited a number of Paradigm dealers, and Audio Design was the last one on my list because I got the (incorrect) initial impression that Audio Design just installs car audio systems. When I finally visited Audio Design, on that day Mike was attending a customer, and I had to wait for a bit, but I was patient and I decided to wait, and I am so glad that I did. Finally, when Mike attended to me, he spent a good deal of time understanding my requirements, my plans. He asked me the right questions, and finally made me an offer that I could not refuse :) Then on I continued to work with Mike in order to identify the rest of the components (AV receiver, integrated stereo amplifier, in-ceiling speakers) of my audio system. I also conducted my own research evaluating components offered by other brands. I seriously considered buying components from some of those brands, and whenever I went to Mike with any questions, he offered me his honest opinion. He never pushed me to buy those components from him. Finally, when I decided to buy these components, I decided to go with Anthem, and Mike's customer service was one of the key factors that drove my decision. While buying these components, I wanted to go for more expensive models, but after understanding my listening room dynamics, Mike suggested me to go with lower models and saved me thousands of dollars. I got my system completely set up this week by getting in-ceiling speakers installed, and Bret and his team did an excellent job installing those speakers. Now I do not have to go to movie theaters anymore :) Mike also managed to get me Anthem's latest MRX 740 receiver which is back-ordered. I look forward to continuing to work with Mike and his team on all my future audio system projects, and I highly recommend them to anyone who is not just looking for a dealer, but a partner who can guide them through the complex process of choosing the right components in the most cost-effective manner for their Hi-Fi Audio System needs. read more

Went to get Windows tinted for my daughters car and was told they would take car of it we know what we are doing. We asked to have it done the same tint as the original tint and the driver passenger side where way lighter. This was done back around June and was told they would take car of it and fix it because we weren't happy with it, and I am still waiting October. Poor Service and way to expensive. I had front & rear cameras installed on my car and was having some issues with them a few "months" later. Mike simply said, "we will make sure it works to your satisfaction". I came to Audio Design and had an Apline ILX-207 apple / android carplay installed in my Sienna. Marco was extremely knowledgeable and went over what I needed to do things like retaining factory control from my steering wheel etc. Now the story gets good, I took for granted how good they were and decided to shop around for headrests to entertain passengers on long trips. I ended up going to Sound Waves where I got the products for cheap and paid a low price for the install as well. The install was not as professional as I would have liked it to have been with exposed wiring behind the driver seat on the floor and wiring running along the center console close to the passenger seat and some functions of the product that should have worked with those headrests did not work correctly. I was disappointed in the loss of time, sub quality install and hazards the dangling wires represented. I decided to go back to Audio Design to see if they could fix my problems. Their install was so top notch, when i saw my Sienna again I did not see one wire lying around and the master and slave function between the headrests were working! They even got rid of the cross audio feed for the wireless headphones that was somehow acceptable from Sound Waves. I could not be happier with the quality of work and professionalism that Marco and Mike have. I should have stayed with them all throughout. Moral of the story, don't sacrifice quality for a few dollars, it only gets more expensive to repair stuff if it does not meet your expectations. I cannot recommend this business and their staff highly enough. read more

True professionals! Just installed an amp and needed a subwoofer & enclosure for my prius so I called spoke to Mason about Kicker Solobaric subs since I've owned these in the past and loved them. Decided a 10" was more than enough and decided on a kicker 10L7. Then Mason asked... "2 or 4 OHM?" Having no idea what the difference is... I explained what model amplifier I just installed, and without hesitation... he already knew what I needed. He tried to explain 2 vs 4 ohm but it was like a foreign language so I just nodded in agreement. Mike the owner, stayed past closing time on Saturday so that I can get there to pick up the speaker.
