Fun spot with a terrific beer selection and hardy food menu. Good choices are the Rueben, chicken club and the chopped salad. All full of flavors and modestly priced. Opt for the sweet potato fries with any sandwich and be sure to stay with the brioche bun. I popped into Auburn Alehouse to check out the hype and watch the NFL games. I walked in and was told the bar was open seating. There were many seats and lots of their beer on draft. There were also high top tables behind me. Anthony was my bartender. He was patient with me as I looked over their beer menu. I went with the Gold Digger IPA. It was very tasty! My friend joined me and got the My Friday Hazey IPA. That one was even tastier. I also indulged in a margarita. I am not a fan of table salt on the rim, though. I like the flaky rocky salt better. We did decide to get a snack. Their brew house pretzels and it comes with bacon crumbles, Old Town Brown beer cheese, and spicy mustard. I thought it was supposed to come with crumbled bacon and scallions on top of the pretzel, but what I received was a pretzel, plain with salt. I guess the bacon crumbles were on top of the beer cheese??? No scallions, though. I was not a fan. These pretzels were not soft and fluffy. Although salted, the pretzel itself didn't taste good. Our bartender, Anthony, said it may have been overcooked. So they took it off our bill. Sat at the bar on this visit and we were treated swiftly by the bar tender. We sampled the following, Basil Hayden Old Fashioned, Pilsner and a charcuterie board. We came here with a group of 6 in the middle of the day on Friday. We were told our wait would be 30 minutes. After 55 minutes we went inside to ask for an update and were told we would be next. Another 15 minutes later we were finally seated. Our server Alexis was genuinely sweet and amazing. She took great care of us even though she mentioned she was not feeling well and would be leaving soon. Once she left our new server was Courtney. The service completely changed. She was short with us from the start and barely came around. She acted like she would rather be anywhere else. Food wise the cheese bread was burnt and the kids burger was also burnt but everything else we ordered tasted great. When we asked for the check and asked Courtney to split it she said okay then came back with an unsplit check. Before we could even say anything she placed it on the table and walked away quickly. I had to get up and ask the host to pass on the message. From our table we could see the POS system and watched Courtney roll her eyes shake her head at us and at the check. She then dropped the check back on our table without a single word. This was my second time coming here and it will probably be my last. The first time I was here we were sat in the back and forgotten about. The food is good (other than the burnt bread) but the service is consistently disappointing. Driving through Auburn is the best because you get to stop for lunch at the awesome Auburn Alehouse! Today we had the Ahi tacos & the Alehouse Burger. Zero complaints. DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRIP! I got the ahi tacos seared & the waitress let me do the different slaws on each taco. Plus it came with wonton chips. Will eat this again. Stopped for a quick dinner on the way to Truckee. I was worried they would be busy on a Friday night; there was a good amount of people at the bar but we got seated right away. The sour beer was delicious, food portions were generous and solid. We shared the fried chicken club, fish and chips and the chopped salad. Came here unexpectedly and was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the interior is--especially sitting by the windows with a great view. Unfortunately, after waiting about 15 minutes without being greeted, my partner and I decided to move to the bar instead. We had a couple of drinks, which were reasonably priced, and the staff at the bar was welcoming and friendly. Went to Auburn Ale house with my daughter after the dmv on a day date. Our waiter was super friendly and we sat out on the covered patio. The fried pickles were great! The Reuben sandwich and it was yummy. My daughter got the spinach salad and she loved it. It's a great little pub and we are more than likely to pop in again if we are in the Auburn area. We meaning my husband and I and came in for the first time Today with 2 friends we shared the garlic bread loaf it was good but definitely needed more sauce on the bottom but it tasted so good. I also got the espresso tini I do wish there was a vanilla fome on top of it even with the beans but even without it, it was so good. My husband and our friends got different beers. Our service was really good other then when they made my husband just hardly out of the way mind you the bar was very full and so was the restaurant like there was no room at all and the lady said it to him in a rude way. The bathrooms were somewhat clean, it was also nice that they had the football games on. We came in at close to 1:30pm in the afternoon time and our bill was over $100s with everything. I've been so eager to try this little gem since it opened up years ago! My husband and I decided to eat here recently while Downtown visiting a jeweler across the street, and I'm so glad we did! First, it's a real cool and comfortable place inside that feels homey and quaint, and I love the ambiance here. The waitress was super amazing as well and gave us time to order from their vast menu (which all of it sounded so good!) and he decided on country fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and I ordered the fish and chips. I love fish and chips and theirs were VERY GOOD! They were perfect, and my husband liked the chicken and mashed potatoes, too! They give you a good serving,moto and the German ale I had was so good! The service was great and so was the food! This is definitely a great asset to old Auburn and I can't wait to come back! My friends and I stopped her after a hike and had a wonderful experience. We sat on the back patio since we had a dog with us. They are dog friendly and even provided our furry friend to some water. They provide a fan for the table b/c as other reviewers have mentioned there seems to be lots of flies back there. Considering it's a brewery, it is no surprise that they have a great selection of beers on tap including a really nice sour. I opted for a mocktail with passionfruit which was quite refreshing. Service was friendly, fast and they were on top of everything. The ambiance is as you would expect for a brewery - laid back yet could be lively if you're there for the lunch or dinner rush. The menu offers something for everyone including an array of fresh salads, bar food style appetizers (which pair perfectly with beer), tacos, pasta, and a very tasty housemade veggie burger that can take the place of a regular burger if you're vegetarian. We came with a large party, and I was impressed that all of our food came out correctly and at the same time. As mentioned our server was attentive and friendly, which made the experience smooth. That said, the food itself felt pretty basic to me--more along the lines of an Applebee's style menu than something memorable. It was fine, just nothing that really stood out. I also noticed several flies inside, which was odd and a little distracting during the meal. Overall, I'd definitely go back for the atmosphere, but the food wouldn't be the main draw for me. We visited Auburn Alehouse and started with the ponzu poke nachos and the pickle chips. The ponzu poke nachos were incredible. Fresh tuna perfect seasoning crunchy wonton chips and everything tasted bright and balanced. Easily a 10 out of 10. The pickle chips were good but nothing I would rush back for. For our main dish we ordered two steak and frites and this is where everything fell apart. The steak itself looked fine at first glance but once we cut into it it had almost no seasoning and no real flavor. The chimichurri on top tasted flat and didn't help much. The real issue though was the fries. They came out completely drenched in oil to the point where the fries were soggy heavy and almost inedible. You can literally see the oil pooling on the plate in the picture. I had to ask for a fresh order and the difference between the replacement fries and the original ones was night and day which tells me our first batch should have never left the kitchen. I ordered the habanero margarita and it was delicious. Perfect balance of spice and citrus. The ambience is fun and lively and although service was slow at first Courtney ended up being amazing and super attentive. Overall I learned my lesson with the steak and frites and will definitely try the burger next time. read more

Because of that we were seated out on the covered patio. There are heaters out there so it was chilly but comfortable. Parking was a problem but everyone eventually found a space either on the street or in one of the public lots. We had 4 Jambalaya, 4 Fish and Chips and a couple burgers. All the food was excellent. The beer selection was good and the service was professional. They were well staffed to handle a large group showing up. It is also such a small burger and this is their main burger on the menu..The frose is a frozen cube with a couple of blueberries and raspberries with champagne poured over it The fried pickles were gross. They weren't like the actual pickle fried. It's like the sliced the pickles really thin then fried but all the skin came off when eating which is fine but then you got small slices of pickle. My hubby is up here working and comes here all the time and tells me how good it is. I came up to visit and made him bring me! I am so glad we did! We sat at the bar and ordered a round of drinks since we had all night and wanted to hang out and enjoy the environment. Amy was the bartender and I ordered a Lavender Lemonade... it was sooo good! As far as food goes we decided to start with the fried pickle chips and they did not disappoint. I wasnt in the mood for anything too heavy, so I opted to get the lettuce wraps from the appetizer menu as my dinner. They were very good! Good flavor, the lettuce wraps were a pretty good size, and I really enjoyed them. I wouldn't mind ordering them again as an appetizer the next time, because after tasting my hubby's french dip I know what I'm getting as my main dish! The french dip was so good! Bread was perfect and did not get fall apart soggy, the meat was nice and tender with excellent flavor, and the french fries were the perfect side to compliment the sandwich. The only complaint he had with it (that he always has) is that they do not give you enough au jus. Most of the servers we came in contact with were friendly, and helped if we needed anything or had a question. The atmosphere is laid back and just a nice place to hang out. They closed at 10 and we ended up staying until closing, but we never felt rushed to leave or like they were annoyed that we were still there. It's a great spit with good food and great drinks.
