When Perkin's sold to Aubuchon, I lamented the loss and moved on - the location was much bigger, the inventory almost as good, and the service was good, with well trained employees. Around 2017 there was a corporate shakeup of some sort, and a gradual decline in the level of service, especially in employee training. Only the manager knew how to copy a key, and the young kids they hired were pretty useless when you needed something, and couldn't care less that they didn't know. If you've stuck with me this long, I'm getting to the point - Cyr Lumber at Exit 7 in Warner has grabbed the torch in terms of service and knowledge! They are a full service Ace Hardware, have lumber and building supplies, and provide many of the services that "old time" hardware stores had: key cutting, screen repair, glass cutting, blade sharpening. The whole feel of the place is less corporate, and you actually feel welcomed when you walk in the door! It's a nice change from the big box stores!

We knew that they were closed on Sundays, but hoped that because the sale went through the 4th, that they would be open for business on Labor Day. We got to the store and unfortunately, it was closed, but they had posted the flyer on their door, so we decided to go back on Tuesday and ask them to honor the prices that THEY advertised. The owner first started with the, "we are just a small business" babble and went from there. Edmunds has 2 stores and has been in business for over 50 years. They could have easily helped us out, but instead they turned us away and chose to turn away our business. He did not even know he had the flyer on his door and said he knew nothing about it. The Lumber Barn and it's staff have been incredibly helpful. They offer free local delivery, quality products. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a local building materials provider who could offer such great products, with a personal touch on service, and a price very competitive with the big box stores. I shop here for all my home repair needs whenever possible. Would love to see them expand their hours to 6pm so I could stop by on my way home from work. I would think they would also get a bit more business this way from others on their way home as well. The only time I shop anywhere else is when they are closed and I need something that day.

I usually park far away because there is no handicap accessible parking and someone always blocks me so I end up having to wait to get in my vehicle as I have a passenger side folding ramp. Today it was raining and I wasn't feeling well so I parked out front with in a minute someone pulls in and I'm lucky I was able to stop and retract my ramp to avoid hitting there vehicle. So you think anyone would actually move staring right at me. So I move my vehicle park somewhere else and immediately drop my lift and sadly just left it down. I go in make my order I did mention to the cashier maybe adding a handicap accessible parking space? Im thinking it is 2026 right didn't say it though. After I finished I get in my vehicle drive out back I immediately noticed one young guy shop vacuum the Lumber Yard truck and the other walking in opposite direction, other driving aroundon forklift. After about 5 minutes I open my truck hatchback and pulled back and forth a few times to get anyone attention I even pulled back and forth a few times hoping to get noticed nothing one one the pallet truck, other vacuuming still no service. I eventually call inside and explain ive been waiting out side for almost 10 minutes, she says she will call them. Another 2 minute go buy and some guy comes over I give him my receipt and say I'm picking up #8 2x4x 8 then mention to him I asked inside where to go but no one answered me I've been waiting for 10 minutes. Suddenly this guy says abruptly you have been waiting no more than 5 minutes I was standing right over there. There was something about the way he said that to me I found bothering I said so what you admit you were right there watching me waiting driving back and forward. Now this guy is begins to escalate and I say to him please we can just stop talking if this is how you treat the disabled. This guy now raises his voice saying we dont have to deal with this nonsense or your harassment you dont have to come here. Now im thinking I feel bad for this person obviously probably the owners kid right? I look at him and say so open my truck nad pulled back and forth a few times hoping to get noticed nothing one one the pallet truck, other vacuum no service. I kindly said #8 2x6x8 he now loses it on me saying again we don't need this harassment we dont need customer like you go somewhere else. I'm ready to leave get a refund suddenly when boards start smashing inside my van just being thrown in; one grazed my arm. And they blocked me in, I couldn't even get out to my wheelchair. I have an adaptive driver seat I drive with hand controls. I need the middle to be clear so my seat can go back then turn. They were still cursing. I shook it off drove away called and asked to speak with the manager asking if they can come outside to the front door as I was barricaded in. I explained my story I got an apology which meant nothing at this point. He looks at me and says oh his last day is Friday. I'm thinking great this generation can just treat a disabled old man in a wheelchair however they want knowing they done and resigned at end of week. Read Clarke retired after a lifetime of commitment and service to the community and this store was sold to Rocky's Hardware, a New England chain based in Springfield MA, with 48 stores including in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. Rocky's is family owned. Although most of the original employees are no longer working there, it still remains a super community place in small-town New England. The employees are super friendly and eager to assist. The Ace Hardware affiliation means they can take advantage of a worldwide supply chain. Since the turnover, stock variety has visibly increased. Another addition to their offerings include online ordering. It was sad to see the old family move away. But if it had to, Rocky's is a welcome presence in the community.

In fact, I can say that for a business that relies on real not fake expertise, this is more like dealing with a brother or a son than with a stranger. You get exactly the right care in total honor.
