I was also pleasantly surprised to find a local building materials provider who could offer such great products, with a personal touch on service, and a price very competitive with the big box stores. I shop here for all my home repair needs whenever possible. Would love to see them expand their hours to 6pm so I could stop by on my way home from work. I would think they would also get a bit more business this way from others on their way home as well. The only time I shop anywhere else is when they are closed and I need something that day.

A true throw back, but despite how small they are they really pack it in at this store. They have almost as many things as you can find in other bigger stores with 1/4 the store size. I can't help thinking 'fire trap' with the pre-WWII area aisle widths and floor boards that feel like they are from the turn of the century i can't help but think that it would be some what problematic getting out in the event of a fire. On more than one occasion I have found items that i was looking for that i haven't been able to find online at a better price than i have seen at a Lowe's or Home Depot.

We knew that they were closed on Sundays, but hoped that because the sale went through the 4th, that they would be open for business on Labor Day. We got to the store and unfortunately, it was closed, but they had posted the flyer on their door, so we decided to go back on Tuesday and ask them to honor the prices that THEY advertised. The owner first started with the, "we are just a small business" babble and went from there. Edmunds has 2 stores and has been in business for over 50 years. They could have easily helped us out, but instead they turned us away and chose to turn away our business. He did not even know he had the flyer on his door and said he knew nothing about it. They had everything from stove pipes to shoe polish, as well as hunting licenses. They were your typical small town hardware store. When Perkin's sold to Aubuchon, I lamented the loss and moved on - the location was much bigger, the inventory almost as good, and the service was good, with well trained employees. Around 2017 there was a corporate shakeup of some sort, and a gradual decline in the level of service, especially in employee training. Only the manager knew how to copy a key, and the young kids they hired were pretty useless when you needed something, and couldn't care less that they didn't know. If you've stuck with me this long, I'm getting to the point - Cyr Lumber at Exit 7 in Warner has grabbed the torch in terms of service and knowledge! They are a full service Ace Hardware, have lumber and building supplies, and provide many of the services that "old time" hardware stores had: key cutting, screen repair, glass cutting, blade sharpening. The whole feel of the place is less corporate, and you actually feel welcomed when you walk in the door! It's a nice change from the big box stores!

Yet thank goodness they have nice employees. Am grateful they have basic fishing supplies. Also love they are so cool, that they have cats inside to handle the rodents. Plus they are friendly too. Selection is decent although you are better going to Agway for plants, fertilizer and other garden stuff.

Read Clarke retired after a lifetime of commitment and service to the community and this store was sold to Rocky's Hardware, a New England chain based in Springfield MA, with 48 stores including in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. Rocky's is family owned. Although most of the original employees are no longer working there, it still remains a super community place in small-town New England. The employees are super friendly and eager to assist. The Ace Hardware affiliation means they can take advantage of a worldwide supply chain. Since the turnover, stock variety has visibly increased. Another addition to their offerings include online ordering. It was sad to see the old family move away. But if it had to, Rocky's is a welcome presence in the community.

I need some stain and rollers today. Decided I'd give my business to a local company. Thought I…read morewould get good advice on what stain to use and rollers I would need. Didn't get any of that. The skinny older guy with glasses and beard was totally unhelpful. First I waited at the paint counter and he walked by 3 times and didn't say a thing to me. I finally stopped him and said I need help choosing a stain. Every time I asked a question he said "I guess, if you want to". The I ask about waiting to stain between coats. He said, "read the back of the can" and walked away. I ended up with another customer helping me pick which stain and roller to use. He did mix the stain but started having a conversation with someone else. I waited awhile after the shaking machine stopped before interrupting his conversation. This is why so many people will go to big box locations. I won't be going back.
