This was the first place we ate when we got to Paris. Mostly because it was right next to our hotel. But it turned out to be a good entry into the French style of eating.
It's a mom and pop place that apparently is run by a mom and her two sons. Mom cooks all the food, and the sons run the restaurant.
The first thing is we didn't know if we were supposed to just sit, or someone would just show us a seat. After a few minutes of waiting, we started to walk to a seat and the guy came over to tell us we could sit there. I ordered a salad with a spicy creamy style dressing that I don't remember the name of, but was quite good. I also got a roasted chicken leg with some kind of sauce, once again I don't remember, but it was quite good. It also came with french fries.
We finished our meal, quite satisfied, and sat there. And sat there some more. And then a little bit more. We didn't know if we were supposed to ask for the check, or they would just bring it to me. It was a little busy there, so we didn't bother him. And we had been on a long flight and just wanted to relax anyway. So we people watched. Everyone was coming home from work, baguettes and wines in paper bags, people out walking their dogs, just enjoying the nice spring evening. So we just sat there and enjoyed, like everyone else was, the French art of relaxation after a good meal. We eventually asked for our check, he never asked if we wanted it. He was polite and we went on our way out into the Parisian streets. read more
