Stopped by after visiting Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, and I'm glad we stumbled by here! The owner and workers all speak fluent English and are super kind and friendly. They play sports on the TV inside, and it is warm and cozy. Not to mention, the prices are insanely good, and the portion sizes are huge! A very satisfactory meal. The cappuccino was creamy and rich, setting a great tone for the rest of the meal. The ham was very fresh and umami, pairing great with the bread. The meat of the day was a steak, which was tenderly cooked and juicy. The French onion soup was tangy and savory, although I will say that the cheese could have been melted in a little more. We had been looking for frog legs at multiple restaurants, and finally got to try here. The size of the frogs was on the smaller end, but they gave plenty in one portion. Since the legs were fried, they were quite crispy, and the shell was seasoned well although the flavor didn't sink in that much into the actual frog leg meat (slightly bland but the meat was super tender). The star of the show were the mussels! The picture doesn't do it justice but the bowl was HUGE. Every time I felt like we were done with all the mussels, we'd dig through the sauce at the bottom and find a couple more. The taste of white wine was evident in the broth, and the mussels were fresh, chewy, and tender. We ended the great meal with the creme brulee, which was satisfying to crack the top and smooth and delicate on the interior. Came here for a drink just as we got into town. Very quiet on a Thursday night but we were only there for a beer. The waiter was very friendly and I bet this place can get very busy on a weekend and when it is warm out. Very close to our hotel so was ideal for a quick drink. read more

Le Chinon was right under our hotel, so we went a couple of times during our stay. There was nothing noteworthy about the restaurant, but it was a good restaurant to go for drinks or dinner. A bit on the pricy side (but what place isn't, these days), but decent food. We went once for dinner, and once for a snack and drinks. (My husband also went for a drink one evening while I was resting in our hotel.) For dinner, my husband had steak and I had salmon, with some wine, of course. The restaurant is open quite late, and I was afraid the noise and music would disrupt us, as it was right under our hotel. To my surprise, I heard nothing -- either because the hotel was very soundproof, or the restaurant just wasn't obnoxiously loud late at night (whenever possible, I try and avoid hotels that are over restaurants or bars). The bartender was a major douchebag. Americans hear that French people are rude but my overall experience in Paris was the opposite except for this place. My nephew and I came here for drinks and I ordered an Espresso Martini. The bartender gave me attitude and said he was too busy to make me one. There were like 2 people outside having coffee and two of us. Ultimately, he apologized to me, made me the drink, and gave us free shots of Whiskey. Without looking on Yelp I ordered a large beer, an appetizer, and an entree. Total 35€. Based on the price I thought the avocado shrimp was small with a large cocktail shrimps but actually was a tasty filling salad with small shrimps. I loved this place so much that we came twice during our short 4 days stay in Paris!! I love the vibes!! I feel like there is a mix of locals and tourists here. There were a lot of people sitting outside having a good time!! The price is amazing given its prime tourist location right in the heart of Montmartre. 12 Euro for 12 snails which was an amazing deal!! I also loved my frites!! This place was right up the street from where we were staying. We speak little french, but the server was so helpful and patient with us. Sitting outside, even on a cold day to watch the people walking by, is such a great experience. Also in this setting, it's nice to talk and meet locals and even tourists. And it was the first place we have ever tried French onion soup. Wow. It was amazing. We traveled around Paris and tried it at other places, no where compared. So flavorful and cheesy! Aussies to the left of me, Brits to the right, here I am (an American), stuck in the middle with my friend, seemingly the only French person in the restaurant! This place definitely seems to appeal to tourists (myself included) -- it is after all right near a popular landmark, the Sacre Coeur. If that thought makes you cringe, be forgiving, because the food is worthwhile (though I hope you aren't seated next to the two obnoxiously yappy English girls we were stuck beside). I had enjoyable steak frites (the fries unusually chunky -- in my experience they are usually skinnier?) with a creamy sauce au poivre, and the unexpected dessert of a light, frothy pistachio milkshake! (This flavor should be on the menu everywhere!) Service was a bit slow, but with a sidewalk table you can enjoy the people watching and rest up for your trek up the hill to the basilica. Overall, fine food, and if you're not a French speaker you may feel particularly secure here with all the other visitors as your fellow diners. read more

If you are near Abbesses and you are hungry at midnight this is the place to go. This is a typical French cafe with tables outside that serves plates with cheese and charcuterie after midnight, as well as croque monsieur. The cheese was great. So I would really recommend sharing one of these plates and order half a bottle or a full bottle of wine. The croque monsieur was not very good. Finally, the service is super nice. So it's a good option to have eat at night. read more

Service seems to only cater to the locals, and don't have any patience to deal with tourists just trying to have a meal after a long day of sightseeing. Want to eat? You're going to have a problem. Most locals seem to come here just to drink, and taking a simple order can take as long as 15 minutes after being seated. The waitress spoke very fast in french, and after I asked her to speak in English seemed annoyed and didn't end up serving our table at all. The host and the other waitress picked up the slack, and I couldn't even get our original waitress to refill our bottle of water (while she continued to serve the multiple drunk locals sitting behind us with pleasure). If you want a quiet place to eat and people-watch with good service, then this is definitely not the place for you. Food is average at best. read more

This was our first meal in Paris and it did not disappoint. We had the pesto tagliatelle and an omelette for dinner. Both were warm and hearty - it was like unexpectedly eating comfort food in a foreign country. I can still think of that pesto and smile. This review is for breakfast only. When we stayed in Montmartre, this was our breakfast must. They have the perfect cup of cafe creme! We ordered off their breakfast combos and the food was abundant and really good! I ordered their ham and cheese omelette combo and came with orange juice, hot chocolate or coffee, a basket of croissants and baguettes with butter and jam. Bug in food review----- My husband and I have been in Paris for a few days now. We've had some pretty incredible meals since we've been here and some rough meals.... to say the least. After a long time walking we needed to use a bathroom and were extremely hungry and thirsty. We settled on this place without doing proper research. The waitress was very short with us and appeared frustrated that we were not able to order immediately (we needed some time to look at the menu after ordering drinks- we also don't speak French so we understand how that was confusing). We quickly ordered pizza after that--- and --- when it came out- there was a bug in our meal. We immediately requested the check. The waitress gave a short "I'm sorry" before handing us the check- and honestly IMO did not seem all that surprised when we showed her the bug. They didn't charge us for the pizza but still charged us for drinks. Needless to say I did not want to see the state of their bathroom after seeing the state of their pizza. We visited for dinner in July. We ordered onion soup, bone marrow with toast, side of beef and pasta. Everything was very tasty. Our kids enjoyed the food as well. Service was good and we found the environment casual and pleasant. Don't understand all the negative reviews. This was a restaurant recommended by our holiday rental host and I would recommend it as well. read more
