We arrived in Paris after a very long flight from the US. After checking into our flat, we looked for restaurants within walking distance since we were quite tired. We found Au Banquier, went inside, and we're warmly greeted by the proprietors. After ordering beers (St Omer - delicious by the way) we decided to stay for dinner.
We both had the Menu, which consisted of an Entree, Plat, and Dessert. My wife chose the soup starter, while I had the pâté; both were very flavorful, especially the pâté. For our main course, we both chose the veal Normandy, with rice. The veal was tender and delicious, and more than enough. We each had the chocolate mousse for dessert. The entire dining experience was enjoyable, and reasonably priced. We are here for two weeks and will be back.
So, we returned a week later, hoping to try the lamb they had listed on their main menu. Unfortunately, we were told they were out of lamb and had only beef. Wanting something a bit lighter, we each ordered a main salad. I had the seafood salad and my wife had the Greek. Hers was missing the artichoke and Avacado that were listed as ingredients. It did have a lot of Feta cheese. Neither salad had an appropriate dressing for its type, just the usual mayonnaise based dressing. They weren't bad; they were just okay.
For that reason we changed our rating from four stars to three. If you go there, stick to the chalkboard menu, and you should be happy. read more
