They have wall to wall and several aisles stocked full of product. They even have a buy 2 items under $3 get the 3rd item under $3 free. They have loads of dvds/blurays, cds, some books/manga, old and new games and systems, and some awesome collectibles. The employees definitely were the cherry on top. He was telling us about the setup of the store, deals the have and about their trade in policies (which are the states policy and super intense to stop stolen items from being sold. They even do fingerprints). My husband is officially obsessed with this store and if he could live here he would. We had to go back to the hotel to grab a game to trade in and on the way back he said "I love this place. I know we aren't there but I'm going to talk like we are because my soul is there". I have no doubts we will be back. We ended up getting a few different things and we were pleased with everything.

Of course, there are a few downsides, because it has been picked through, but this place warrants several long days of going through! Perry, the friendly owner, has been doing this store for FIFTY YEARS and has an amazing reputation. He has a front room, with new arrivals, a middle room that is mostly 45s, and a back room where there are boxes of LPs covering the many shelves of LPs. I only had less than two hours to go through, but easily found 30 records (actually, had to narrow it down to the amount I had). There is no order to what the records are in, so it takes dedication and time to find stuff. Most regular LPs are 3 dollars each! Also, make sure you bring cash because that's all that Perry accepts, and the closest ATM is about ten miles away! This town (and store) is near Richmond, IN. which is just across the border from Ohio. It's about an hour and forty minutes from Columbus, two hours from Cinci, and about 50 minutes out of Indianapolis. It's only open from 9-3 on most days, 9-5 on Friday, and is closed Mondays. Any vinyl fiend will go crazy here!

Apparently, many people knew, because Karma has been around since 1970, and it's the oldest record store in Indianapolis. OK! I'm obviously late to the game. Usually, I visit record stores just to browse, but this time, I visited to find a specific album. But when I asked the kind people behind the counter to look up the album for me, I found out the album that I had in mind was actually out of print! So I could order it online, but it would cost like five hundred dollars or some obscene amount. The helpful people at Karma offered to order other albums by the same artist. But I didn't want that, and instead just browsed the selection of records that Karma. There are a lot of records here. Surely, if you're not dead set on a specific out-of-print record like me, you will find something here. They also have CDs. And the cool people at Karma are willing to order whatever you want (assuming it's not out of print), and it will show up at the shop a few days later. Man, you didn't ask, but this place smells like incense, I tell you what. Which is appropriate, I guess, because they sell incense here. I just mention in case you're sensitive to incense.

I found a Musical Youth album, which definitely reminded me of my childhood. The store also had a good selection of 45s, all reasonably priced. The service was excellent, as I recall. If I am ever in this neck of the woods again, I'm certain I will stop by Omega Music. It's a really good record store, for sure.

In my last review, I think I complained about being a tired mom with macaroni and cheese stains on my pants. Well, nine years later, I'm still a mom but fortunately less tired, the stains on my pants are from red wine and vegan tzatziki, and the kids I made macaroni and cheese for have grown up and are very interested in music. And they ask me to take them to Luna Music. I'm always happy to oblige. My oldest kid love Luna Music because he can find albums for the bands that he listens to. Bands and artists that are not on my radar at all (Blood Orange? Anyone, anyone? Bueller?), but he loves them, and it makes him happy to find them here in vinyl. Luna has a lot of new music on vinyl. This is the place to visit in Indianapolis if you're looking for any kind of new music. They are on top of it. In fact, I subscribe to their weekly newsletter just to keep abreast of the new music that drops every week. Luna Music keeps me young and able to relate to my children, who have astounding musical taste for their age. Luna skews toward records, but they also have a smaller selection of used CDs, as well as a collection of used cassette tapes that are smaller still. You can also find zines, local artwork, greeting cards, record players and other fun things. The people who work here are super friendly and not at all snobby. There are no Jack-Black-from-High-Fidelity people here!

Some areas were sparse but my guess is that they were waiting on stock to come in to restock those areas. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. If they're busy it can seem cramped. Prices on par with other shops. Definitely plan on stopping in again with my list because I was just browsing, but my wife grabbed a couple records on her list.

For a place that advertises as being an underground metal store, I was expecting rarities and secondhand records you can't buy anywhere else. The staff were playing shitty metalcore from the moment we walked in the door. If you're advertising yourself as a metal store you'd better have some real metal on the playlist. After about 15 minutes we couldn't take it and left. My boyfriend and I left without spending a single cent which is rare for us when we visit a record store. We've found better selections at The Exchange.

The store is located in the fringe shops by the Walmart on South US 31. Parking is plentiful, but spaces close by are hit or miss. When I entered, I saw that the shop was arranged with long rows of organized cases. There were DVDs, Blu Ray, and Video Games of all kinds. It appears that most rows were arranged alphabetically, so it took just a bit of quick scanning to get to the titles of interest. Sadly, no CDs here. I did notice a few things while I browsed. Apparently, all the shelf items are empty, presumably to reduce shoplifting. I assume you take the cases up to the back of the store counter and they get the contents for you when you pay. I also found that there are discounts listed in the shop so that if you buy five items, you get the sixth one free. Even during a weekday, the shop was really busy, so it looks like the place has figured out how to make the best of a second hand market in the face of a growing streaming surge. Review #3701
