I waited about 10 minutes and he showed up. I was interested in an old recipe books for some artwork I was working on. I love old bookstores, especially ones like these where books are just stacked everywhere. I found what I was looking for here and the cost was very reasonable. I went up to pay and he also told me I could pick a bookmark that his girlfriend made to take home with me. Right up my alley. I looked around at some of the other book types and picked up a couple extra books I thought I would like. He definitely had a lot of interesting books, records, posters, etc. Also to note the parking lot that was behind the store had signs that the parking was only for some insurance company and you would be towed, I asked him about it and he said the building used to belong to an insurance company and yes it was the parking for the bookstore. They have rubber stamps, scrapbooking papers, dies for die cutting machines, and miscellaneous craft supplies like acrylic paint. So it is worth a visit and the other booths have many different items like home decor, antiques, vintage items, and who knows what else depending on the vendor. Prices are in line with other flea markets in the area. The cashiers are always friendly and I have not ever had any issues with anybody that worked there. Perhaps when I left my job in Anderson I forgot to review this gem in the process. I have only been here on two types of circumstances. One was an exhibit regarding the White River that the owner invited me to. The other type was for painting classes, of which I went there plenty of times. They did it specially for my work and I would say I went there four or five times for that. At least. Like a drink and draw, but without the alcohol. However, as she got to know us and understood us, she warmed up. She also ensured that the variety of paintings she taught us were exactly that: a variety. Many different types of styles including some whimsical and kid like ones. Everything from birch trees, to summer fields of flowers, to concentric circles, to whimsical owls and birds. Eliot who owns the place is a pretty rad guy as well. Always good to talk music too (though it did get me into trouble with my work via a coworker). But hey if I finally find someone who knows who actually knows who all is referenced in the song Emmylou, who the Decemberists are, and has also seen Bob Dylan and the like in concert? The land was later purchased (1917) by Frank Ball, of the Ball Jar Company and became part of his estate. The shop is filled with Indiana themed items that you can't find anywhere else. They have wonderful Bob Ross themed gifts, books, paint kits and even wigs if you want to do Bob Ross impersonations. Another shelf is full of Ball jars and assorted canning equipment. There were even lovely, hand crafted earrings made from old Ball jars. Local Amish popcorn and other Indiana goodies filled shelves. Garden decor and narwhal themed toys were featured.
