Out-of-towner who wanted to give this rock shop some love upon my recent visit to Indianapolis. I'm…read morefrom the west coast, where it's hard to find a bona fide rock and mineral shop that isn't primarily a new age spirituality shop. Nothing against that if that's you're thing, but it usually means they only carry your typical calcites and rose quartz, usually polished. I wanted the raw, rare stuff. Well, if you want old-school and no-frills, Jox Rox is exactly that. It looks abandoned from the outside and is dirty inside. It's the smell of nature, baby! Dozens of drawers to thumb through and find specimens - check out the malawi agates! Some real gems in the cabinets as well. Picked up myself a gorgeous large vanadinite crystal and a terminated watermelon tourmaline that would have easily run me twice as much back home.

This family-run rock shop has been the rock cornerstone of central Indiana for at least 50 years…read more Second generation owners, Phil Zink and sister Deb Zink, collected rocks with their parents as young kids. Today, they are among the most knowledgable of Indiana geology in the state. Their shop is not fancy, but is packed with fossils, minerals, jewelry findings, supplies, books and much, much more. You can find specimens from all over the world. Prices are fair and Phil will take the time to educate you on just about any rock topic. The shop is also a good place to learn about rock shows and local clubs. Phil is a founding member of the Indiana Society of Paleontology. If you're into rocks, you must stop in to Jox Rocks. It's right next to the Dairy Queen on Franklin Road in a converted convenience store.

An absolutely wonderful hobby shop, and with an incredible and diverse selection! I've been coming…read morehere for years, and it really is one of the best FLGS I've been to. For the staff, it's a family-run business and they're all incredibly nice and personable. It's easy to talk to all of them and they're more than willing to help with special requests and orders. They also offer a 10% in-store credit reward system which is simple and quite generous too! In terms of location, while it's a bit off the beaten path, it's close enough to one of the main streets in tow (and another hobby shop) to not be an issue. Parking can be cramped on busy days, but that's to be expected. As far as product goes, there's a lot! Miniatures in particular are well-represented. All Games Workshop IPs are here (some more than others, but also including some boxsets that aren't available anymore) and they're always getting new product in for pre-orders. While they do sell them at GW retail price, their rewards program has let me get away (more than a few times) with getting a few boxes for free or for more than 50% discount. Dungeons and Dragons + Pathfinder minis are also available, as are Star Wars: Legion, BattleTech, and HeroClix, as well as more niche stuff, like Blood and Plunder. A fair selection for various card games, but also a generous and wide selection of board games as well! Lastly, there is also a selection of paints, primers, brushes, magnets, basing material, and other hobby tools that are readily available. As far as gaming space, the backroom has space to accommodate plenty of people and for different games. Plenty of tables to set up at, and a wide selection of terrain to make use of for wargaming. While I unfortunately cannot comment on the music section of the store, as I have not made use of its services, I can say that the gentleman who runs it is very respectful and helpful. Overall, a very worthwhile visit for hobbyists who want a wide selection of goods to peruse at an honest price from honest staff. This place means a lot to me, if you couldn't tell from the review lol

It's rare that I get excited about writing a review but this is one of those times. The business…read moreowners are the reason. Background is my wife and I have been wanting to start collecting pottery for some time (serving bowls and other dinnerware mostly). Long story short was I found them thru a display at Logan Mall in Noblesville and they suggested I come by for a visit after calling them. The store looks like an extension of the house they reside in...when you walk in it's mainly the antique area. I'm not an antiques guy so I can't speak to what they have on that. My daughter and I wandered around a bit looking for pottery in this area and we found a surface finish that we both liked for a serving bowl. Eventually I struck up a conversation with Diane (one of the owners) asking how she could help, etc. We told her what we were looking for and she very graciously showed us their pottery shop. I met her husband Matt (the other owner) and he took about 20 minutes of his time to explain how they make the pottery (everything by hand...no molds), how they got started, family, etc. They were such nice people and gracious with their time to put up with my rookie inquiries. My daughter found a few old 45s she wanted as well. Diane said it would be a couple of weeks for the bowl. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I went to pick it up. It was exactly how we wanted. They informed me the finish/glaze was difficult and took a couple of tries but they got it. It is absolutely perfect and will hopefully be in our family for a very long time. The location is right at the corner of IN37 and Strawtown Avenue. If you are looking for handmade pottery with two business owners that have a passion for what they do then swing by and tell them Chris sent you :-). This is a type of business that you want to support and I'm looking forward to doing more business with them in the future.

Finally, I found this place. The store has great parking out front. The aisles are large and easy to navigate. There are so many different types of dealers that everyone is sure to find a treasure. I was looking for furniture. Not only did I find exactly what I was looking for, but the prices were extremely affordable for the quality represented. I found several accent tables and nightstands. I even found a lovely small sideboard that was solid wood. I also found a great set of nesting tables for $59.99. I was amazed since I have bought a set at wholesale price in the past and paid close to $150 for them. Darion was super knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. As said, I purchased a number of larger pieces and wanted to fit them all into my vehicle. Darion took the time to help me load them and reload them in my car until we were able to fit most of them in. She was willing to keep trying different ways to get it all in. She definitely went above and beyond. Without her help I would have had to get someone to come help me load my car since the pieces were too bulky and heavy to do it alone. She was AMAZING!!!!!! I look forward to coming in on a regular basis since these types of stores have constantly revolving stock. If you see something you like, buy it, because it will be gone the next time you come in.
