My husband and I just popped into this super cute full service cafe for breakfast. It was just a few minutes after they "stopped serving breakfast". I'm 9 months pregnant, and REALLY wanted a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel. I asked the barista to pull a favor in the kitchen, and yes I pulled the pregnancy card...and those angels said "yes". Not only was the sandwich delicious, filling, and the bagel perfectly toasted, but they made my husband one too! Very much appreciated after 2 1/2 hours at the hospital for some routine appointments. Oh man. I had a local friend bring me here when I asked to go to a cute coffee shop with quality coffee, and this was perfect. We were there for a bit, during which I had two iced coffees - the first being a chocolate foam cold brew and the second being an iced peanut butter latte. Both were absolutely delicious, with their wonderful coffee taking center stage and not being overshadowed by the other flavors. I also had their chicken bacon ranch wrap for lunch that day, which was fresh, tasty, and filling! I love local spots like this that just get it right. They even sell their own cold brew in cans to go, so I grabbed the trifecta - one cold brew, one nitro cold brew, and one CBD-infused cold brew. I haven't tried the CBD one yet, but the other two were absolutely delicious and just how I like them - FULL of caffeine. (380 mg per can!) I go to the Boston area a few times a year, so I'll definitely be back here. read more

Very spacious cafe with lots of tables and seating available, which is a huge plus for any cafe. I typically get a latte for a first time visit, but I ventured out and tried the iced mocha. It was the perfect level of sweetness, which is hard to achieve, so four stars for them! My husband got the hot mocha latte, and our friend got a hot tea. Both of the hot drinks were good, too. I also appreciated the bathroom situation also - two individual full bathrooms, not stalls. I worried about a line forming, but that never happened during the 1.5 hours I was there. read more

Hey. Atomic. I love you. Your coffee is amazing but I'm vegan and I can't eat anything here. Also kinda sucky...upcharging for non-dairy milks (what about those who have allergies?) I've inquired for about a year "hey do you guys ever carry vegan baked goods?" And the answer is always "sometimes...but they always sell out." I've been coming in regularly and have never seen these items. If they DO sell out, that means there is a demand! Get more! It would make a BIG difference to even have a single vegan muffin (and not just one hummus sandwich) for those of us who don't like eating animals. Have visited a couple times and have found the experience the best if coming for a quick lunch bite and coffee visit. Their lunch menu is quite large for a coffee shop, featuring lots of different sandwich options which can please any craving. All reasonably priced and come with a side bag of chips. Recommend as it is one of the best quick bites in the area. Their coffee is their local roast I believe and is quite good. Their cappuccinos and lattes are always a good choice and they offer huge iced drink sizes as well if that's what you're after. Would not recommend their pastries however, as they seem to be misses most of the time. Had some of their cookies and sweet loaf offerings and they have never been great. Usually taste similar to just store bought options. Overall, a solid 3 stars for their lunch options and hot coffee drinks with more than ample seating and cozy coffee shop environment that is desperately welcome in the beverly area. read more

You know how in high school there was that one friend who left for summer vacation kinda dorky and came back senior year smokin' hot? That's the new Atomic Cafe in Beverly. The old Atomic was a dumpy little dive that I loved but was in need of a new wardrobe. That's what happened. They gutted the old place across the street, added in beautiful wood floors, a nice new roomy area for the baristas to work, sandwiches are made in a back kitchen, and good god the room. There are tables galore, booths to spare, and a decent amount of bar space. The tables are all fancy wood and there are comfy little nooks here and there in case you are having one of those morning after date night coffee. (Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.) Still, most of the baristas need to learn how to pull a smooth and not bitter espresso and Atomic's coffee is stuck in the 90s darker roasts. I'd love it if they would experiment with some lighter roast varietals. But they are all medium roasted. Also, they serve blends in the cafe. They don't do pour over or aero press, so it's drip brew, espresso drinks, or iced coffee. The iced may or may not be cold brew. Atomic need to up their coffee roasting game. Their sandwiches are top notch and they have a few new pressed sandwiches on the menu. The turkey with apple and brie is awesome. Atomic is the place to go for long periods of studying but for great espresso... It's still Jaho or Gusto for me. I hope that the baristas will up their game to match the new digs. Terribly passive aggressive service at the smoothie bar on Sunday morning 2/11. They gave me a confusing answer about protein flavors, and caused a moment of miscommunication. After giving a generous tip I heard the girls making fun of my confusion. When they finished making my smoothie, they left it sitting on the other side of the counter for 2 min while serving those who ordered after me. I've never written a review before and while I understand complaining about customers among coworkers, I don't understand why they made my smoothie and didn't serve it right away. We had the nitro cold brew which was alright although a little too acidic for my taste and the breakfast bowl. While it was good, it was quite small for the price (like the size of a cereal bowl). All in all, 2 small breakfast bowls, a slice of toast with butter and a coffee was $25 which seemed a bit pricey. I cannot go to Beverly without going to Atomic. Every time I come here, the baristas are extremely friendly and never fail to provide me with the best coffee on the north shore. I compare every other coffee shop I've been to (which is quite a few) to Atomic and there's just no doubt in my mind that Atomic is the best. No matter what you order, you will always be satisfied. No idea how I've walked by so many times and just now went in for a coffee. Kicking myself as this place has a fantastic coffee menu! They also have lunch items but we stuck with the coffees. I got an iced caramel latte. Loved the smooth taste although not as strong as I expected. My coffee drinking partner in crime got the cold brew. So good. I may have made him switch and later finished off my original coffee. Who needs sleep... One thing to improve would be where the specials board is. We didn't see it at all until after we'd ordered the coffee and there were two specials I would have ordered before a normal latte. Next time I go for sure (if they're still on the board). Always impressed with cappuccinos. Probably the best flavor-wise espresso I've had in the states. My only suggestion is making them a liiittle hotter. Especially in "to stay" mugs. My drink usually gets cold within the first 5 minutes. The food is also great- I'm never disappointed, besides my ok scone, but I cut them some slack because scones are a bitch and a half to get right. I always come here when I cat sit for my sister (hehe) and look forward to coming and sitting on my computer for a while. There's usually enough seating, so I have yet to run into a problem. I like stopping in for a smoothie now and again. They sometimes have pre-packed gluten free cookies or brownies on the counter that aren't sold anywhere else within walking distance, so a smoothie and a treat is always fun! They can make gluten free wraps which are pretty good too. They're very busy and tend to run out of ingredients a lot, but if you go between rush hours, you can sometimes snag a nice seat and take in the warm atmosphere. Wish they had more gluten free options! Now that I've gone a lot, I know the layout really well. However, whenever I bring someone new, they always feel a bit lost and aren't sure how to go about ordering, getting a seat, and clearing their table. This leads to people stepping on toes by mistake and tables not being cleared properly sometimes. Add to that some poor acoustics which make it hard to hear when your order is called, and it can feel almost exclusive. read more

I use to live in Beverly and be a regular customer, I called before breakfast was over at 11:20 (As breakfast ends at 11:30), and the cashier told me they wouldn't take anything for breakfast at that time, even though I told her the time didn't arrive yet. I think it's very unfortunate when a place of business will not complete the services that are offered just because they want to close the kitchen early, it's not difficult to keep your word to your clients. Live close by and have been here a number of times. It's the trendy place for the cool kids. And it's ALWAYS packed. The staff is nice, despite being moderately too cool for school. Generally we've enjoyed the food and coffee. Service is the main issue, at times rude but mostly fine. Coffee is fine. Got a chocolate chip brownie - was quite good. Good mocha but really busy. I'd suggest taking your coffee to go. Lots of people come here with laptops and stay for hours. Most of them are there alone yet taking up a table for two. They would have way more space if the laptop users shared a table. We went at 4pm and couldn't find a seat. Unfortunately there are no other coffee shops in the area and we had already paid for parking so we just stood around waiting for a seat to open up. It was cold out too so we weren't keen on the idea of walking around outside. Not a fan. Got a salad ($7) that was filled with lettuce - not even cut up. I don't know, call me crazy, but when I get a salad at lunch time I like it chopped so I can eat it with a fork. Not the case here. There were 2 thin slices of tomatoes and a scoop of hummus plopped on top. Supposedly there was tabbouleh but I didn't find any. It did come with a free hair. I'm pretending I didn't see it because I was starving and muscled through it. The overpriced coffee looks pretty good - but I'm over the food. atomic cafe has the best espresso drinks in the area, hands down. I, and my friends, call their lattes "magical." I am addicted to their iced caramel latte, I have one every day. This is not the place for someone who is looking for a clean, friendly, cozy cafe. This is where you go to meet up with friends, get a bite to eat and relax. I've managed to get some work done there before, but I'm sure I would've been more efficient somewhere quieter. It is rarely quiet there, almost always there is a line.It is not somewhere you go to zip in and out for a quick cup of coffee, the starbucks down the street has a drive through for that. not that I've been to starbucks in the last year, because atomic is right near my house. I'll have to say this place is decent. They have wi-fi. They have a very decent drink selection. They have food that is satisfying, but isn't super high quality (because they are a coffee shop essentially trying to sell food, not the other way around) I haven't had any issues with customer service here yet, everyone has been friendly to me thus far. I did want to comment on Josie M.'s review with some insight from another restaurant employee. I work at a restaurant that does not allow people to turn salads into wraps. The reason being is time/consistency. What happens if your salad is too big to fit into the wrap, is the prep supposed to leave the rest on the side? Does he just not give you whats left over? How will the staff charge you? These are all decisions that slow down customer service and may make for a worse experience at a restaurant. The next question is, will you come in for this Salad as a Wrap again? or Will you tell your friends to ask for the same order? I've dealt with many experiences where customers got experimental (even with something as simple as Josie suggested), and expected consistency every time they came in even though it wasn't an item on our menu. At a certain point restraints need to draw the line and say, you must order something that is on our menu and work with that. Otherwise, you should go to a Ritzy restaurant where you pay a lot of money for a chef to make you food or go home and make the food for yourself if you want something more tailored to your needs. Note: I am a vegan as well, so I can relate on wanting to find more vegetarian items on menus. Just try to work WITH the restaurant and you will get something that is satisfying.
