Atlantic mechanical came to service my outside air-conditioning unit. My house is 2000 ft.². I only have one unit. They ran a hose through the outside unit and they changed the filter. A warning to all current and future customers: they have no emergency services off hours. We have used them for years for scheduled maintenance visits, however, when we needed them most on a Saturday at 4:30pm in January, when our heater broke, I was astounded to call and get an answering service and NO emergency line. I left a message in hopes they would hear my urgency and call, but it was at 9am the next day. Needless to say, we are switching to a company that can provide service when we need it. read more

We were torn between putting 5 stars or 3 stars.  To be fair we decided on 4 stars, the reason being that each time over the 3-4 years of doing business with this company we were satisfied with the work that was done.   The reason for wanting to put 3 stars down would be for dealing with the office manager.  We have used this company to do maintenance on our ductless air conditioners each year and this last time was to fix and replace a part that was under warranty. The first issue we had with the office manager we chalked it up to a misunderstanding.   The second time the bill didn't reflect what was quoted over the phone.  This last time, which I blame myself for not getting her estimated quote over the phone in writing, the bill had added charges for a "Helper" (which was never discussed) and an extra hour was charged for service time. (Hence, being charged for 3 1/2 hours when it was only 2 hours) I requested to speak to one of the owners but she told me that she is married to one of the owners and that she will be taking care of this issue.  Her mannerism over the phone could use some polishing.  After deliberating over the phone about the bill, she did take off the "Helper" charges and one hour off the service time which almost brought it down to the correct amount that should have been charged in the first place.  That being said, we weren't sure if we would continue using them in the future but in her unprofessional and rude way she made that decision for us by saying "We won't be doing business with you anymore". TIPS:  If you are told that she can't give a true estimate OR if you get a quote over the phone, make sure you get something in writing with a breakdown of the charges before you go forward.  Ask for an email stating what was said over the phone.....another suggestion would be is to note down the time when the service people start and finish the job and have them sign it to prove the actual time they were there. read more

I moved to Waldwick in March and my AC unit passed inspection. Well, a few weeks ago, the unit that is 15 years old, started blowing warm air. I reached out to Atlantic Mechanical, as my parents have used them in the past, and they came out a few days later to assess the situation, and realized that I needed a brand new AC unit. The original unit was underneath my stairs by my porch, a non-ideal location to say the least. Well Atlantic Mechanical was able to get a new unit, and provide the next steps to lay a concrete slab, and install the new unit. We have used Atlantic Mechanical many times over the years for a variety of HVAC-related services, including complete replacement of our furnace and AC system. Today Bob came out from Atlantic to do a seemingly straightforward furnace check for the coming heating season. As he went down the stairs, as he later told us, he noticed he was becoming light-headed. He immediately checked our gas appliances and determined that our dryer was not venting properly to the outside and carbon monoxide was accumulating in the house. He directed me to open all windows and he set about fixing the problem. All was taken care of, but Bob literally saved our lives. Talk about service above and beyond!!! In a nutshell: You know first impressions when you meet someone? Felt a good vibe from Rich. Honest, knowledgeable, on-time providing a cost-effective service. At the recommendation of a friend, called Atlantic Mechanical for help with my mothers central air condoning. The unit is over 40-years-old. She previously had another company show up, review the issues and told her the compressor would need to be replaced at the cost of $6,000. If you have an older parent, you know how a bill like that scares the heck out of them. One of AM's owner's, Rich, showed up on time -- a big plus. Rich connected his gauges to the compressor, and found the unit had none. He explained there was a freon leak somewhere and needed to determine where it was. Rich explained that if it was in the line from between the compressor and the attic unit, it could get expensive. He then climbed into the 120 degree attic, checked the unit, and reported the pressurized load held -- VERY good news. Another plus. After returning outside, he found the problem where the freon escaped - the line connection to the compressor. After repairing that, he added 9lbs of the old-school freon, and soon, the house had cold air running through it again! The pluses keep adding up! Now for the best part -- the total bill for this repair? Much less than a tenth of the other estimate!! Plus-O-Rama!!! My mother was so ecstatic with Rich, she gave him a HUGE hug and a kiss before he left. HIGHLY recommended! read more

We have been residential customers of Atlantic Mechanical for several years and they are great! During the recent heat wave our air conditioning unit stopped working. I left a message on a Sunday. A representative from the company called back that day and when I did not receive the message called back first thing Monday morning. A service person was at my house in under an hour. Unfortunately, I had a second and unrelated issue with my older air conditioning unit that same afternoon and Atlantic Mechanical sent a service person within a half hour. Spoke to person named Adriane. She was rude off the bat, zero customer service skills, maybe the owner which is why, but she actually told me not to pay the bill, called me an asshole and hung up. All I asked was when someone was coming out and why we did not get an explanation of what service was done and she went on to tell me how high of a rating they have etc. Like it matters to me. I dont care how angry a customer gets you cannot act like that as a professional business owner. I will be reporting to the better business bureau. Matt from Atlantic Mechanical, Inc. did an excellent job assessing and fixing the plumbing problem with my shower. My shower was leaking into the wall behind it every time you would turn it on. He was professional, courteous and explained well the things that needed to be done to get it fixed. Matt was able to fix the shower the same day that he came out to my house, which is always a plus.
