Best to avoid... On a Sunday afternoon, our Trane AC unit stopped working. This was 5 days before we left for a 6-week European trip and 4 days before our house sitters arrived from Wisconsin. We called Atlantic Heating & Cooling and they sent out a very young woman, a trainee, with some freon. She was on the phone with the Steve Taranto, the owner of Atlantic, for 2.5 hours while he instructed her what to do. She couldn't find the problem. Nothing worked. Finally I spoke to Steve who said (sight unseen) that we needed 2 new parts. On Monday the parts were ordered. By Tuesday morning this company no longer answered their phone. Only a recorded message. They never returned our calls or let us know anything. On Wednesday I found the phone number for the Trane wholesale parts distributor here in Sarasota. They confirmed to me that our parts were in their warehouse since Monday but had not been picked up by Atlantic. I then left another message on Atlantic's voicemail and got no answer. On Thursday our house sitters arrived. We realized that our AC was probably not going to be fixed before we left the next morning. So I called another company. That company came out immediately and fixed the AC - no parts needed!!! This 2nd company was so efficient that we signed up for a regular maintenance contract with them. I then left a message on the answering machine of Atlantic Heating & Cooling letting them know we had hired a different company and our AC was repaired. That was Thursday night. On Friday morning at 8:36am as we were just leaving for the Orlando airport, that same young woman trainee called to say they would come. Too late, goodbye and good riddance! This is a one-man shop that cannot handle their volume of work. If you like to spend 5 days and nights in 88-90 degrees and 80% humidity, do hire them! read more

Steve is a great guy, he came to my house at 230am, my ac had not been working all day I can home to find my wife who is on oxygen sitting in the heat I called steve explained the situation, and he came right out, honest reliable, I wont call anyone else as long as steve is around. read more

Steve is Honest and Reliable! I called them with a emergency at night and Steve told me exactly what to do. He set up the service call for the following week and his technician addressed the problem. He also performed maintenance on all 3 units at the same time. I have been dealing with another company locally and they were terrible. Im so glad I found these guys. Thank you! read more

My regular (not any more) air conditioner company came to do maintenance on my unit. The unit worked fine before they came. When they left they called and said I had a Freon leak and needed a complete new system. I called Atlantic Air who came out and checked the system. They recharged the system and checked for leaks. No leaks and the system has worked fine ever since. They stated that it appeared someone has let the Freon out of the system. Atlantic earned my business, I will never go back to the previous company that I had done business with for years. Atlantic is the best! read more

Great job and it didn't cost me 5Gs! Steve came to the house because we had water pooling in the closet. He fixed the five or six little things that the installers and maintenance company (that sold and maintained the unit) never did. The original company has been coming back year after year for four years and didn't notice that the PVC wasn't glued together, the UV lamp wasn't working, the drain pipe was clogged, the pan was too small and the float switch didn't work properly. Steve fixed it all and improved the air flow through out the house. THANKS STEVE. read more

We had used Atlantic on a few occasions for service and found him to be honest and reliable. When our system finally died, Steve was our preferred vendor because of our past experience. It took about 3 weeks to finally finish the installation. They failed to get a permit so the job was stopped for a couple days. Once it was finally done we had issues come up that needed attention, not unusual. It now takes weeks to even get a call back and months to get anyone out to do anything to correct the issues, and still not resolved. I have serious concerns about using this company moving forward as we've been calling and leaving messages for a month now with no response from Steve or anyone else. We are not difficult customers but in fact were very patient while experiencing all the delays that turned a 3 day job into 3 weeks. I really think Steve is a good guy who means well, but I no longer trust him to follow through on his good intentions. read more

I have used Steve Taranto and Atlantic Heating & Cooling several times, each time he or his techs have fixed the problem very quickly. I have an older system (nearly 15 years old) and he keeps it going! i will gladly use Atlantic on my rental properties too. read more

BUYER BEWARE. This company came out and charged me $150 to "fix" my unit. A week later, it broke. They wont respond to my texts/calls. Don't waste your time or money. Horrible customer service. read more

We had used Atlantic Heating & Cooling in the past so when we needed a new unit we wanted Steve to do the work. But then a 3 day job turned into a 3 week job with multiple workers along the way and several problems. Once the work was finally done, there were some punch list items that needed to be taken care of for the unit to work the way it was sold to us. It took forever for someone to come out to the house and the issues are still not resolved. I have left a dozen or more messages and texts for Steve and no reply. None. It is very disappointing as I considered Steve a friend and we were extremely patient with all the problems we experienced (one being, no one pulled a permit). I am not sure what is going on with this company, but it is frustrating to put your trust into someone and then not have them follow through and complete the job that you paid for and now we need to find another company to service our unit. read more
