I contacted Air Experts Today to service my air conditioner, first they wanted to sell me a service plan for 150.00, and then came and serviced my A.C. and charged me 250.00 for for a part that cost 21.95. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS! Their service tech Michael responded when our AC stopped working. He inspected the unit and said it was a "bad capacitor." After he replaced the capacitor, however, he determined that both the fan motor and circuit board were "blown." He said he could repair it for $1450 or replace the unit for $5500. Further, he said the unit was "full of mold" and that we should buy a UV light for the air handler because otherwise we would have adverse health effects. I decided to get two other estimates and that turned out to be a wise move on my part. Another company came out, tested the unit and said it was working fine (after the capacitor was replace) and that no technician is qualified to tell you that mold has an impact on your health. When I tried to reach the owner, he gave me the run around but finally (begrudgingly) refunded what I paid for his company's "services." These people give all AC companies a bad name. read more

RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, EXPENSIVE! Elderly couple called because they had no ac. Explained that the husband had just been released from the hospital and needed to have the AC fixed. Their unit was under warranty, however, the tech never showed up, and guessed over the phone as to what the problem would be. They were then told it was an act of God, and it would not be covered by warranty. The woman who answered the phone was very rude and ended up hanging up on them. 2 1/2 months later, they received a bill for ($129) for a weekend call that was never acted on. I contacted Air Experts because my A/C stopped working. When the repairman arrived, he spent less than 5 minutes reviewing possible issues. He determined I either needed to replace my compressor ($2,688) or the entire A/C system ($7,171). My unit was only 5 years old so I was skeptical regarding his assessment. I contacted another service provided that provided a second opinion. The second contractor identified a minor part that needed to be replaced. He fixed the unit in less than 10 minutes for a total charge of $222. The Air Experts repair person also did not reattach the cover that protected electrical parts from getting wet before he left. The second repair contractor noted that this could have been a big problem if rain or a sprinkler system caused the internal electrical parts to get wet. This company will lie to you and tell you that they were the previous owner's air conditioner company. They offer a free inspection then tell you that you have all sorts of major problems even though you are having no problems with your air conditioner. They take advantage of elderly people particularly single women. They even asked if you are alone. The prices they quote for services to Take care of your " serious problems are extreme. About 200% higher than what it would cost from a reputable company. They offer a service agreement for 150.00 + that will also give you discounts if you need service and when you have them do something the discount does not apply!!They charged me 500.00 to put a stop leak in my system and replace less than 1 pound of Freon because I had a ? Leak in my system because my Freon level was a little low. This fix took them less than 1 ( yes one) minute to do this service and I am not sure that it was needed to be done or even WAS done. I was going outside to see what was being done and he had already finished and was in the truck writing me up a 500.00 Bill. I noticed also that he did not replace the cap from the tubing where he checked my Freon level!! If I did not have a leak I surely would have one without the cap being replaced!!!!!! After spending $ 14.20 for a white aluminum 6 inch fascia cap, $ 4.98 for a 12 oz can of foam and a lot of cutting and fitting I feel the shroud is acceptable. I also replaced about 6 foot of thermostat wire as the installers just used the existing that had the covering cracking and large piece of covering missing exposing the 4 colored wires. How long before that would short out??? In all honesty, we could not recommend Air experts to the members of this park. 1. I had to make the cardboard temp shroud, 2. I had to replace the wire 3. Buyer be aware!!!!! Hired from a mailing. First quote was needed new box for air handler. Then they came by again didnt do any work said we need all new vents because of mold. We decided to do it. Quote 3k. Then they'll didnt take all the trash. Bent all to heck the tray for water and it cant drain now. Didnt do all vents, 2 dont blow cold air. We been back and forth with company dozen times and they refuse to have us speak to any manager on resolution. I'm contacting bbb, and city and atty. St pete fl. They then changed that to all vents since all vents were moldy, (they came out 4 times) before they did work, time I lost from a paying employer but we did it. Even the packaging for the light that cleans, packs of screw, ripped our insulation they tore out to access but didn't put back. The mastic is even peeling and not enough on. They did not do 'expert" work and am very angry that we paid way over 2k and have a company that refuses to come out and fix 3 simple things. I am very embarrassed. I never hire contractors without researching before, but in 2012 I hired these guys for annual maintenance when we purchased our condo in Sarasota. After a couple of years of routine maintenance one tech said the pressure in our system was low indicating a leak.as snowbirds we are away for long periods so we asked the options. Replacing the unit was a fix but he offered a leak-seal product for $500. and said no risk cause if this didn't fix the problem the $500 would be deducted from the cost of replacing the unit. We went with that and sure enough while back in Canada our property manager called to say mold was forming on ceiling around vents and no cooling. Called Air Experts who came and said we had to replace and ducts were full of mold and beyond cleanable. Had to replace ductwork as well. Grand total $7500. When I raised issue of $500 rebate for previous seal product. No can do. They gave us such a great price on the unit. After some haggling managed to get $300. Over the previous 4 years Air Experts always contacted me to renew the maintenance contract. Since the replacement in Sept 2016 they have not called. Guess they got what they were looking for. As much as I dislike their service, I am equally pissed with myself for lack of research. Three of the reviews below were here when I replaced my unit. Very expensive lesson. I just bought a new home and received a call from Air Experts 2 days ago saying they saw where I took over ownership of this home and they would like to do a free analysis of my air conditioning unit at no cost. The guy came out yesterday, tinkered around with my unit and thermostat, said it looked great and gave me the spiel of what programs they offer for maintenance. I said I would think about it, he left and I left my house for the day. When I got home later in the afternoon I had no air and my house was at 92 degrees. The guy had left his cell number on the invoice so I called him. He had me check a couple of things to no avail and told me to call the after hours number. They sent out another guy who said the float had failed and it's just one of those things. Coincidence? hmmm. He charged me $129 for the service call then started to give me the spiel again for the maintenance agreement. I think not. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We received a call stating that our free, annual maintenance was due. After a brief check, we were advised that we needed a brand new system and were quoted $4500.00. They said the handler was full of mold and the compressor was failing. They also told us the outside unit was manufactured in 2007, meaning it was 12 years old and on its last leg. Upon speaking with the service guy, his story changed a couple times as well, creating some doubt. We reviewed our inspection report which clearly showed the serial numbers indicating both units were manufactured in 2014, installed in 2015. We invested had a second opinion, and thank goodness we didn't. The outside unit simply needed a thorough cleaning as our dryer vent had been blowing directly on the unit creating a severely clogged grate. How obvious is that! You can see it with your bare eyes. There was also very minimal mold in the handler, which is typical in Florida. Our AC is now running beautifully. Air Experts clearly didn't clean the machine at all during the free "maintenance check" and only wanted to sell us a new system. read more

One year ago we purchased a new Rheem A/C unit from Air Experts. We also purchased a one year plan that covered a one year service warranty. In 6 months they were supposed to come and inspect the unit. They never came. After a year I called & asked that they come out for the free inspection. They came out & said the UV kit they put in year ago wasn't working and we had mold. We needed a new one that costs us another $750 since the old one was no longer under warranty. AFTER ONE YEAR!! The entire time he was here he was texting and talking on his cell phone. He told me that my unit was 12'years old and that it operated on freon and was irreplaceable. They recommended to replace the 12 yr old system and we hired them to install new system They were very late for the appointment. One of the installers put his leg thru the kitchen ceiling and the put the system in incorrectly. The attic system has leaked 3 times in 2 years and have had to have the ceiling repaired each time They DO NOT stand behind their work and refused to pay for the damage to the system or ceiling. Consumer beware. This is a company you do not want installing or touching your current HVAC systems. Their idea of maintenance is sending you a guy with a van without any tools. He just came to teach me how to work my thermostat (I installed my own about 7 months ago), change the air filter (I do that every 30 days and I clean the unit outside at the same time). I did drag him outside to ask him about the wrapping around the cooling line going to the outside unit because my puppy had been tearing it off. Thought he might have some--oh yeah, he has nothing in his van. He told me what to buy so after he left I went to Ace Hardware to buy what I needed and put it on myself. He asked me if I knew about putting bleach in the air handler reservoir and that was a new one for me so I got out some bleach. He said never mind, he had something better in his van. So he did have some stuff in his van!!! Anyway, he would not tell me what it was, but it was brownish in color and it was in a Pure Leaf tea bottle like you would get at a convenience store. At that time, I could see some gook on the air handler and in the tray. I'm a clean freak and I asked him twice whether I should clean that up--the home is being sold and it was being inspected at 3 on the same day. He told me twice that it was fine, they are all like that. Sure enough, at 3, the inspectors said that was a violation.. Since then I have taken everything apart and cleaned with bleach. It looks so much better. There is an electrician coming tomorrow and I'm going to have him check the electrical connections and make sure they are tight. After talking with the ladies in the office and explaining all of this they kept referring to my "FREE maintenance" and that I should probably call another company for further service you can bet I will because this company is clueless in the office and in the field. I pray that "whatever" he poured down the drain did no damage or clogged the drains in any way because there was nothing wrong with the unit until then. Worked like a charm. Time will tell. Beware of using Air Experts! To Customers in Tampa, Bradenton, Sarasota, St. Petersburg,Tarpon Springs I am so frustrated today! I want to warn you against using AIR EXPERTS, SARASOTA. They installed a new air-condition system in our vacation home in Tarpon Springs, on 6/16/16. I travel back in forth to visit family. I was there for my 20th Anniversary last week on May 3, 2017 when water started pouring from the ceiling. It flooded part of my kitchen. I called Air experts and turned off the system right away. We cleaned up the flood and they sent a tech out the same morning. The tech told us that this flood was due to a poor install and no insulation around the pipe that became loose with use. He told us it was 100 percent fixed and left the home. We went out to the pool for a few hours and came back in and water had flooded the kitchen again. We called Air experts again and they sent the same technician out and he said that due to him putting the insulation around the pipe became loose due to no glue on the install.He told us that it was totally the install of the air-condition fault. Mark AIR EXPERTS TECH told us that Ryan some management would be contacting us to fix the ceiling. They sent another tech the original installer out after we sent them the bid of $2,000 damage to fix the kitchen ceiling and repaint to recheck Marks work. Now they are telling us they will not cover the damage because the original installer told them that they do not think it is there fault! My insurance deductible is $2,500 so I will have to pay out of pocket and not only that my 5 days in Tampa were spent cleaning up a water leak that was due to there negligence. PLEASE USE CAUTION USING THIS COMPANY... I can only hope someone else does not get taken by this company like us. I will report to BBB. I wanted to be fair and add that a week later after many complaints I received an e-mail from Ryan stating that they would send there own drywall installer but thats all they would offer as compensation! This company is a bunch of shysters! A service tech was sent to evaluate warranty work on a 3-1/2 year old central air that froze up. the unit was installed for the previous owner, a 98 year old woman that according to her son, was taken advantage of. Upon arrival the tech bad mouthed the way it was mounted and the brand of AC that was installed ... by this company! I was told that a 'snowball' effect had taken place, and that there were many things wrong that would require multiple trips (@$99.99) for each trip to make repairs. In addition there would be an hourly charge for each repair and parts charge. Bottom line was these repairs could cost $1500-2000 for warranty repair! But..the silver lining for me was that I could get a completely new, bigger, more efficient model along with new duct work and hangers for $5200 and if I agreed today the $99.99 for this call would be part of that $5200. WHAT A DEAL! the tech wrote out all the repairs and cost but took that with him after talking to my fiancé and being told we were getting a second opinion. He only left the estimate for the new equipment. I called another local company for a second opinion. The owner came within the hour. This is a highly unethical company. I received a call out of the blue asking to schedule a "Free" service call so they could transfer my records from the old owner to me (the new owner) of this home. They made it sound like they had a history servicing my systems, however a few words made me suspicious. When I asked specifically, has this company serviced these systems at this location, there was a pause, and finally some honesty. They were just calling new home owners, probably from public lists of recent home purchases and making it sound like they serviced the prior owner. This is a big red flag. Air Expert wrote back and listed a long list of service records as if these are their badge of honor. They started servicing the air con on June 24 and they listed the last service call on July 3. The situation was not resolved by July 3 and they did not even check back. When I called the office on July 6 (fully aware that if they did not respond on normal working days, what hope do I have that they would respond over July 4th weekend, so we suffered in silence. 92 degrees in the house!) I was given three answers, first was the phone system was down and they did not get my message that the unit was not working (when I called on Monday. We called in the morning numerous times and 'she' only called back around 3:30 p.m.). Then, an offensive move by saying if the unit was not fixed, why did I not call back over the weekend. (After she told me she could not get any calls because the phone system was down). Then she said she worked all weekend and she did not get any day off for the past 2 1/2 years, she 'parked' herself in front of the computer at home, working. When I told her what did the service man tell her. At first she said everything is fixed, and the unit is working then she said there was no communication between she and the service man so she PRESUMED everything is fine???!!!! AIR NOW RESPONDED TO MY CALL AND SENT SOMEONE RIGHT AWAY THE SAME AFTERNOON (Monday, July 6). On July 7, A manager and a technician came and by late afternoon WE GOT COOL AIR. As a consumer, we care about cool air. We are not impressed with Air Expert sending a whole host of trainees and dragged the case on for 13 days and got nowhere. Air Experts installed a new unit to replace the old one which I was told was 17 years old. The unit installed pushes the air through the ductwork at such a high rate that we cannot hear the tv over it. When I had them back, at a cost of $100, I was told that because of the size of the space for the air handler, the fan speed was not adjustable and that nothing else was available that would fit. My understanding is that this adjustment is made with a simple wiring change, and there is no bearing on the size of the unit. There are over 200 condos in our complex, all with the same size constraints. All of the others I have been in have ac systems that are quiet and unobtrusive - none roar like this one. It is apparent that the unit installed is totally inappropriate for this application and that I have been scammed. I will no longer do business with this outfit. read more

Was contacted by Judy from Air Experts telling me they wanted to come out and give me a free inspection of my A/C unit. She was very congenial and bubbly. I said "sure" who wouldn't want a free inspection. I knew there was nothing wrong with the unit but had recently purchased the condo and thought the unit was probably due for a good going over. Then came the excuses, tech showed up and no one home, ( tech came at wrong time). Reschedule. Next tech went to my private home (where in the heck did they get my private home address), they looked in the property tax records, HUMMMM really. Reschedule! Hah! Then they couldn't come out because a client had called them who has Leukemia and was without air so the needed to cancel me and RESCHEDULE. (Lets hope there really was not an ill person but just another lie from Air Experts). The last straw was the call today having to RESCHEDULE because two of their techs were out with the flu. I asked for the owners name and his private number or wanted to speak with him. You guessed it, the owner couldn't come to the phone but they gave me his email address. REALLY! What a shoddy way of doing business. They should be known as the "A/C ambulance chasers". I feel not only are their business practices deplorable the owner also asks the customer service department to lie for him which make them as bad as he is but they also take the "heat" from dissatisfied and disgruntled possible customers. We recently purchased a house about 2 months ago. Last night the ac stopped working. Being nice people I called the number ( Air experts ) they were the last owners service so I figured I'd keep them.they came out right away but that was the only positive thing. He told me he was familiar with the unit and told me he had put a sealant in ,and that there was a leak..I pulled all the old reports and there was never a sealant installed. .he then told me the outside fan motor was gone and it would cost around $1600 to fix and could not come back until next monday.this is Wednesday and I said I can't go that long..he then told me he could replace the entire ac system for $4500.. and have installed next day..with $2000. Down and finance the rest.he also told me the unit was installed in 2005..I showed him the invoice from the prior company that the unit was only 4 years old and then told me that the warranty was void because we are new owners..when I told him I need time to think about it he lowered the price to $4000... I said no ..he left..my neighbor gave me a name of a company. .he came right out and replaced a relay..told me the system was fine..there were no leaks or traces of a sealant. The entire repair was $145.00 and he pmd the unit for free..I immediately gave them the contract. .PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! read more

I just purchased a condo in Sarasota, they received my name from the appraiser and unsolicited called me to offer a "free inspection and service. The sales rep said they had been servicing the house for the previous owner. When they sent the tech out to the residence they found what they alleged was mold within 3 minutes. They never looked at the AC, they went straight to the air handler and incited panic with my senior citizen tenants and friends. I heard Jason (the tech) in the background exclaiming how bad it was and trying to strike paralyzing fear into the tenants. His remedy was an $800 UV light in which he receives a commission. Oddly enough when they we servicing this residence the prior year they never discovered this with the previous tenant. This is a classic scare tactic. This company and their representatives are fraudulent, lack any ethics or integrity. They should be closed down. Please do not use their services!!!! read more
