After approximately 60 minutes, he informed us that he was unable to resolve the issue and suggested we contact another company for deeper cleaning further down the line. He also warned that the sink and washer should not be used because the drain would clog again. Unfortunately, my experience was less than ideal. My refrigerator went out at our vacation rental in Bradenton. I called elite heating and Air and explained that I had just purchased a brand new refrigerator from Lowe's and that they came to install it. Unfortunately, the Lowe's installers refused to disconnect the water line from the old refrigerator and so they couldn't install the new refrigerator. I called elite and told them the situation that I needed someone to come and finish the install. They said their plumbers would have no problem disconnecting the water line from the old refrigerator and hooking up the new one. But then after arrival, the service tech said that he is unable to move the refrigerator even just a couple feet and put in the new refrigerator and hook it up. So... You have Lowe's that won't install it because they can't touch the water line and then you have elite who can't move the refrigerator a couple feet and hook it up... So what are you supposed to do? The experience was super frustrating and the guests at our vacation rental had to move the refrigerator for Elite to hook it up. There were zero parts involved. Everything was already there. The tech hooked it up in a matter of seconds and happily charged $289 for this five star service. I'm very disappointed that the person on phone could not tell me that this would have been an issue even though I clearly explained what I was needing. It wasn't until the technician showed up to tell me that he was not liable or able to move the refrigerator and hook up the new one... Even though that's why I called. Should've just called a handyman for way cheaper and faster and more professional service. Five stars without a doubt! I have never had such a great experience with a heating and air company! My a/c went out a couple of weeks ago and the service tech Paul came out. Immediately he identified where my unit was at fault and causing the fail. He patched things up to get us relief from 90 degrees inside my house until they could get there just 2 days later to replace the unit! Garrett, the sales rep was so knowledgeable and awesome to work with made the whole transaction seamless! I had to call him back a week later to relocate a drain hose to enable the attic stairs to come down out of the ceiling and they responded within the hour. That, my friends, is SERVICE! Now the backstory: For a variety of reasons, we converted our entire home from traditional HVAC to five independent mini-split systems made by Mitsubishi. There were some issues with the condensate pumps, and Elite, without resistance, returned to our home time after time to address. Finally, they decided to upgrade to better (and significantly quieter) condensate pumps. The house is now not only running highly efficiently, but also very quiet. I love these mini-splits and will aim to never return to traditional HVAC. Kirk, the owner, was always QUICK to respond to my texts or calls if and when there were issues in the early periods. All has been addressed by their highly skilled field personnel and cannot say enough about how professional they were and how easy it was to reach schedulers, the operations manager, or the owner. Bought a brand new AC from them 4 months ago and it has already stopped working. It needed a part they didn't have in stock. I have been without Ac going on 5 days - it's August and 92 degrees in my house. The communication has been horrible and they have no sense of urgency in Getting the part to fix my unit. Wow I called the night before the appointment and expressed my problems having techs telling me "there's nothing wrong" with my A/C even though it is reaching 84 degrees in the house with it blowing full blast. I asked for someone with a lot of experience. What I got was a guy who almost from the first minute he met me was telling me I needed a bigger unit. He was not interested in doing what he was there for...which was to analyze and fix whatever he could on the unit I had. He said cleaning the unit and added coolant "wouldn't help." Why? Because I "needed a bigger unit." So I shelled out $149 for this useless aggravation. He did hose down my outdoor A/C only because I asked him to, and then he left the hose out on the lawn...I had to put it away. That was the ten minutes of "usefulness" I got out of him. Then he proceeded to tell me for the 15th through 20th time that I needed a bigger unit even though I strongly expressed to him to stop mentioning something that wasn't going to happen. He really annoyed me at this point and I felt extremely disrespected. Especially because he didn't seem to care about my situation or doing any work for me. He sat in his van for at least 15 minutes writing up paperwork about what he didn't do for me. I then found McDonald and Sons who offer a FREE Second Opinion...and it was like night and day...the new tech came out, listened to me, checked all my air registers, spent a lot of time analyzing the airflow and coolant levels. He cleaned out a couple of registers that had foam material and other debris in them, and even helped me move a couch away from a vent it was covering. The guy from Elite never even looked at the room registers. Then my tech from McDonald and Sons did add coolant...at my request...and yes, it helped. In fact, my old mobile home that is utterly non efficient...is now 4 degrees cooler a few hours after this visit (on an extremely hot day) than it was yesterday. Those four degrees are absolutely critical for comfort. The proof will be in the pudding tomorrow, when the system has a full day to cool down the house now that it's been tuned up and improved. I would never recommend Elite to anybody for anything. It's important to listen to your customer. I don't believe the woman taking my information or my tech did so with any concern to resolve my cooling and service problems. read more

My steps to select a HVAC contractor: Listed the 16 contractors nearest me off Google Maps. Read reviews from six sources. Scoured contractor websites. Eliminated several contractors. Drove to see the contractor place of biz which eliminated more. Used BuildZoom, Consumer Reports, EnergysStar, Dept of Energy, ASHRAE, AHRI, Wikipedia; WebHVAC, etc. Invited the six remaining contractors to do a quote. Made a list of every part of quotes to make comparison possible. For the three finalists, read online about the brand name and AC model. Those steps led to Elite and Lennox. Satisfied so far. Pros: All Elite people I've talked with are good people. Ten-year labor warranty. Con: No excuse for loud clicking from a thermostat. Things learned: Little need for a heat pump in this climate. The federal tax credit is too small to justify the added cost to qualify. Add attic insulation to lower FPL bills. They'll want you to commit before they leave - just say no. They may run down brand names they don't sell - ignore. The Elite installers were friendly and professional. They replaced a 16" diameter return air duct with an 18" D because it was the right thing to do. I would've never known. I purchased a brand new cent. A/C June 2019 from another heating and air-conditioning company. Five months later my coil blew out and they replaced it two times in total. My humidity levels in the house were exceeding 65% and the company who installed my unit was out more than 7 times trying to determine what the cause of high humidity was. I called Lee at Elite heating and air conditioning he sent somebody out within 15 minutes. Greg with elite AC arrived promptly. He talk to me about what was going on with the unit and immediately went to work evaluating the entire system. As another expressed, one star is too much! Mat and company do not stand behind previous work, but will talk down to a female customer. When an experienced male in a/c got on the line, Mat backed down from previous statements, but still insisted they were not responsible for previous work. I paid a lot of money for the system and as a homeowner and non-a/c person, I had no idea how to go behind and check someone's work behind them so I did not know the type of work done. Too long to write, to exasperating to re-live. But!! Keep in mind they are the "new" owners of this business (previously called "The Cool-it Man"). Same business, new name for four and half years according one supposed owner. In short, go somewhere else with a better-proven record. You do not want to go down this road.
