The lobby of Tru was very welcoming, with an unusual main desk at the center of things instead of tucked away against a wall. There was lots of seating in this area to enjoy the included breakfast (the automatic pancake machine, oh my god so good) and to hang out or wait for others to meet up. Foosball table, large television, etc. The rooms were equally as inviting. Lots of natural light but with the ability to really black things out in the room with a roll down curtain. The non-carpeted flooring was a nice, modern change. Beds were very comfortable, sheets clean, spacious layout, flat screen tv, mini fridge, etc. In-ground indoor pool was a nice option to have during our stay. Didn't seem all that popular among the guests staying at the same time as me since it was always empty but appreciated none-the-less. The hotel itself is situated in a concrete jungle so though there was a small outdoor seating area, don't expect much ambiance in terms of the outdoor space. Located next to a gas station, food store, and some strip mall restaurants - this hotel is convenient, serviceable, and an excellent option if you are in need of a place to stay in the middle of Delaware.

My wife briefly checked out other Hilton options closer to the beach and they were simply too expensive for us. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and we enjoyed our stay. Since we visited during covid the housekeeping staff was helpful and friendly about exchanging out towels and giving us additional supplies like toilet paper while connecting in the hallway. We really appreciate that the toilet flushes well, but holy cow, keep a safe distance when flushing or you might lose something. Overall it was a good stay but we feel that something needs to be done to the parking entry area. Twice during our four days the entry (shared with Walmart and another retail space) was almost impassable with deep water that doesn't appear to drain properly. This isn't acceptable in our opinion and should be fixed as soon as possible.

Appetizers were delicious too and we could barely finish them. The quality of the food was outstanding, generous portions, and relatively reasonable prices for the quality. The marker is mounted on the wall and reads, "This locally famous landmark was constructed in 1836 by Joshua S. Layton and Caleb B. Sipple, builders of the Sussex County Courthouse across the Square. It replaced a frame Public House that had stood on the site. County courts were held here during construction of the Courthouse 1837-39. The accommodations and hospitality of the house made this a popular stopping place for both residents and visitors to the County Seat. Known for a time as the Union Hotel, this was a well-known gathering-place for northern sympathizers during the Civil War. After the war, business flourished with the coming of the railroad. With the advent of the automobile, the number of lodgers began to decline, and the hotel was closed in the mid-1950's. The building was later renovated and used as a bank until 1998. The Brick Hotel was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1979." This is marker number SC-139 and was erected by the Delaware Public Archives in 2000. The Brick Hotel really makes you feel pampered. Our room was one of the smallest (The Chambers) but all they had left at the time, and it was still plenty large and spotlessly clean. They leave complimentary drinks and snacks in your room, and have a nice continental breakfast with scones, muffins, oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. Coffee and other beverages are always available. The rooms have a heated towel rack, which was kind of amusing but actually more useful to dry wet towels. The shower was large with nice white tile and a seat (again kind of amusing) but the shower head I didn't care for. I understand trying to save water but you really have to run around in there to get wet and it just takes longer. We also could unfortunately hear people using the microwave oven around 4:30 in the morning- it was on the other side of the wall to our room. There are several sitting areas to enjoy, including the 2nd floor deck in the front of the building. We sat out there and watched traffic go around the circle, drank our coffee out there in the morning and our beer in the evening. We also had dinner in the restaurant one evening which included the fried green tomato tower, seafood bouilliabaisse, and a delicious saffron risotto. Of the staff we met Kelly and Lisa were particularly helpful and engaging. Georgetown is one of those places I doubt we'll ever go back to but would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. Dang, the Microtel wants $100 a night, so stay here, are you kidding?

When we drove up that little Mansion we could not believe our Eyes. Directly on the water in a magical setting...something we will never forget and definitely will revisit! We were greeted and got a tour that justified its history. We did have perfect weather conditions, so when we came back from dinner, we enjoyed ourselves for a little walk around the gardens and lake. The view from our balcony was stunning...you really have to pinch yourself...just making sure you're not dreaming...it made us feel happy as can be. The next morning...David prepared a beautiful spread of breakfast. Crab &Swiss cheese omelette, roasted Yukon potato, turkey bacon, country sausage, the bread basket had lavish varieties and customed as well towards my girl who has celiac disease with gluten free options, Room tempered butter, I think even the raspberry marmalade was homemade, fresh berries...I mean nothing was missing and it was put together with such care. Since we were the first of the season...David was able to join us. What a great morning we had thanks to him...thank you so very much!! A must see venue, that is highly recommended!

Check in was easy and efficient and our room was in the adjoining house with a large great-room that was stunning available to everyone staying there with a fireplace, large kitchen, sitting area and dining table. I loved that their sign said to please vacate by 9pm bc our room was on the third floor directly across the hall from it and right beside the community half-bath servicing it and the room had no soundproofing at all. You could hear even minimal talking from that great room (and it doesn't have a door). That is my only complaint about this Inn. The provided breakfast daily was wonderful. The first day we had quiche and the second we had chocolate chip pancakes. All made fresh when you sit down and included sides, coffee, fruit, and yogurt. Really delicious and good quality and the staff were so nice. My husband is diabetic and they easily modified the options to meet his lower carb/sugar request. They also have daily evening tea with a sweet treat which is fun and coffee, tea, and lemon water are available all day and night. Our room was beautiful and looked exactly like the photos and the inn is so charming. Perfect landscaping, all common areas are so cute, and the location is to die for right on the beach, with access to the sand just steps from the lovely wrap-around porch. We were unlucky and it was basically a freezing Nor'easter the weekend we came, so we didn't get to enjoy the beach, the bikes, or any of the out door amenities - but we still found it charming and enjoyed both the Inn and the town. Hopefully, we can come back again in the fall and enjoy milder weather.

The ocean is the best part - you can't beat ocean front property and views. Their service is top-notch - welcoming, accommodating, and great attention to detail. I felt like I was in a 5 star hotel, but even better, it is an old charming, turn of the century, quaint home experience. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. Amenities are great at no extra cost - I took advantage of their bikes and yoga mat! I love that they invite you to stay after check-out to continue to enjoy the property. And watching the sunrise over the water was the icing on the cake. Normally, their rates would be beyond my budget, but with the WinterEscape promotion of 20% off, it was very reasonable. I will definitely be back!
