Our party of six went two flights of draft beers at $13 per flight. The beers were excellent, we liked all of them. The foods were a different story. Our table shared three appetizers and each dish was small. The taste was ok, nothing special. My youngest daughter ordered the BLT and it contained only two thin slices of bacon. The beer is fine. Nothing that I would consider award winning but certainly drinkable. The issue here is not with the beer. I've never been in a brewery that you struggle to sit and have a beer. You are forced to the bar if you are just having a beer. If the bar is full, out front you go. If that is taken you're out of luck. Not sure if we caught the employees on a bad day but they were clearly "annoyed". Just simply not friendly. Even at the bar, the bartender kept yelling at everyone who came up to order at the only open spot, the waitress station. I'm fine going where ever they want, but maybe make a spot for people to order if they are not sitting at the bar? Just a poor experience. I'll pass next time. read more

The wind was blowing slow and chill, the weather unfriendly and almost boring in its not threatening humidity. We made our way slowly through the colorful Bar Harbor streets, until this sleek, modern, warehouse styled establishment caught our eyes. They were semi-crowded so instead of waiting at the desk we sat up at the bar, which was promptly cleaned by a friendly barman. The selection of beers is focused and locally made, and the two we tasted (a brown ale and an amber blueberry concoction) were so good my wife got an extra long pour on the spot. So this is a really nice place. Great venue. Annnnnd, that's where it ends. Dude at the front whispers, so can barely understand what he was saying. Speak up my dude! Getting him to repeat himself he stated we couldn't get a seat if we were just drinking beer. Could drink at the bar, or sit outside. Not inside, nor upstairs on the roof top. Which was bummer because that looked cool. But, since the bar was full, it was outside. So, had a pint and left. The beer was ok. I really liked that blueberry beer, but we had a flight and there was nothing earth shattering. Staff, well you saw the comments above about check in guy. The bartender? We had the Thai chicken sandwich with garlic fries, and the poached pear salad. We shared all food and everything was excellent, the salad was a real stand out. This place had a great atmosphere and was fun. Do plan on waiting for 1+ hour if you get here at about 6ish during the summer. There are high ceilings, and senate connected store, and they also have an upstairs. I don't drink, but others in my party seemed to enjoy the flight of beer tasting, as there was a variety of different beers. For an appetizer, we had the burrata and peaches plate which was quite good. I love burrata, and this burrata was creamy and on point. Also came with some slightly toasted bread and peaches. They all went together well. For my main entree, I had the Thai chicken sandwich with side salad. I thought the chicken may have been slightly undercooked, but it was still tasty, and had a peanut dressing that I enjoyed. Side salad had tomatoes, carrots, and onions, and was fine. This is a total tourist town and this area is a very touristy spot but Atlantic Brewing was a great stop. I went with my 7 year old daughter and they had a great kids menu but she opted for the large pretzel which she loved! I got the lobster roll and it was incredibly delicious and fresh with lots of lobster. The waiter we had was incredibly friendly and helpful. The place was busy but we were served in good timing. The place was very clean and they don't overcrowd the seating so it doesn't feel too crowded. I got a blueberry beer which was a perfect companion to the lobster roll. My sister and dad went to the Thirsty Whale and were very disappointed... I highly recommend eating at Atlantic Brewery! read more

Came here for a group dinner. We tried the beer taster, but honestly, the blueberry beer was by far the best and we should've just ordered that one of those directly. I had the beet salad that was good, but a little on the sweet side, especially with the candied pecans. The chicken karage was a bit dry and only saved by the spicy mayo they served it with. After visiting Acadia National Park in the morning, I was on the lookout for lunch. It turns out that several of the restaurants that are usually open on Fridays were closed (either due to happenstance or the fact that Bar Harbor shops start closing after the Acadia visiting season is reaching its tail end), but luckily for me, Atlantic Brewing was open! I walked in and was confused by how I got a table. It turns out there is table service upstairs; the downstairs level is bar service (i.e. you won't have waitstaff). I went upstairs hoping to be seated, but no one was available to help. I started to get the sense that service may be an issue, possibly due to the fact that their waitstaff covers a lot of ground. I was able to order a cheeseburger and one of their beers at my seat, but if I needed any additional service (water, for example), I had to go ask at the bar. The burger and fries were both good, and my beer was refreshing. I just realized that the bar service concept only works if you are sitting right at the bar; if you are at any of the lower level tables, be prepared to feel invisible. read more

Great ambiance inside, as the whole place is glass windows, so it's soaked in light, the bar faces the brewing operation which you can see through the windows there, pretty high ceilings and spaced out seating which is excellent. Also upstairs rooftop area. Menu is diverse, fun, and priced really well, so my wife and I even though we were there for the beer tried a few options. LOVED them all. First a crab roll, which was a nice change up from lobster rolls (which they also had), real refreshing (lemon on top) and packed with meat. Then we got the chicken karage, which was maybe 6 slices of fried up chicken dipped lightly in two delightful sauces, one a spicy one that I used the chicken as a paint brush like vessel to pallet my mouth in what was a true work of art (it was real good). Lastly, because again, the menu is fun and full of interesting options, we got some deviled eggs in old bay sauce, I mean, perfect to go with some brews. And oh did we have some nice brews. I got a flight, which comes with 5, 5oz pours for I believe $13 bucks (nice!) and such a good mix of light and refreshing, to IPA, to even a stout. The blueberry ale is divine, the stout not too heavy and my favorite, but not a bad beer in the bunch! Service, jovial and sweet people, they were attentive but not over on top of us, and food came out quickly but staged well. Loved it. Lastly there is a merch area on other side with some great stuff, including their beers! Oh and clean bathroom with full changing station. A+, must got to, don't miss it. read more

Stopped in here around july 1/2020 days of covid... social distanced and all... had a few pops & some food upstairs at a table overlooking sidewalk! great view... friendly servers... solid beer options... would come again just for beer... but what prompted this review was my lobster roll...! my god this thing still haunts my waking dreams... it was served with drawn butter in place of typical mayo... and it knocked my socks off... in vermont where i live michelin star type eateries (thats being optimistic i know) but the best little eateries in vermont couldn't hold this lobster rolls garter... if you catch my drift... cant wait to go back.. hopefully next summer and no pandemic... keep it up atlantic... youve got a good thing going definite 4.5 stars... read more

Overall I had a great experience here. The burger was great, the truffle fries were FIRE, and (most of) the beers were delicious (I am generally not a fan of IPAs. The waiter was also super friendly. My only complaint was that on a low 50° high 40° windy, rainy day, they had the entrance and another door wide open, so it was quite cold sitting and eating. After sitting down we were given a menu of the beers to try. Our host was very enthusiastic about the beers and they offered about 9 beers of different styles. We ordered a flight with the Blueberry Ale, Real Ale, A Bigger Boat, Faust and SOB. All were good but we really enjoyed the Blueberry and A Bigger Boat which is a NE IPA. This review is from the service in the beer/bar area as we did not try the food while we were there. We stopped here a few weekends back and walked into a nice spacious area that appeared to be a sit yourself area. The hostess appeared to be set up for those interested in more of a dining option and we had already eaten. So we sat for a bit of time and decided on the beers we wanted to try and walked up to order at the bar. After a few minutes of standing and making last decisions for beer based off the tap list, a worker came up to us. He rudely told us "they won't take your order at the bar" and that we need to sit down and wait for him to take our order. We were taken aback by how rude he was in telling us this, so needless to say that made our first impressions go towards the negative. It was surprising that no one had mentioned the fact a waiter would take our order since we had been sitting previously and were ignored. The place wasn't empty but also would not say that it is busy. He finally did take our order and we started to understand where the rudeness came from. The worker had little to no personality and seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else. Not a great quality for anyone in the service industry, but even worse for someone in a huge tourist town at the start of summer. Thanks to the service (or lack of) we drank the beers quite quickly and paid so we could get out sooner rather than later. On the positive side, Atlantic Brewing saved the visit because of their beer. Not saying it belongs in the upper echelon of Maine breweries, but they do make some good quality beers. So that explains why I am giving it 2 stars. read more

Beer was alright, food was disappointing, staff was neglectful and management needs a reeducation. The pictures showed French fries. But as we sit down with our party, no fries! Then our waitress gets our order, give us a water and beer and then disappears. We had to refill our own water and walk down to the bar to get more beer. Waitress came back about twenty minutes later to ask if we want more beer. Management was not at all understanding or amenable to addressing the situation. If you are starving after a bike ride, this is not the place. If you want seafood, definitely not the place. Better food and beer can be found elsewhere at Bar Harbor. This outstanding brewery in the heart of Bar Harbor was a frequent refuge for our family during an unseasonably hot July week in Maine. Their Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale was my go-to beer during our vacation, and I also enjoyed their delicious Mountain Hopper IPA and their crisp Maine Logger Lager. The food is also excellent -- we shared a huge and delicious Beer Cheese Pretzel, and the Midtown Burger I ordered was outstanding. Service was excellent during our visits, both at the bar and when we had a table. The brewery has a spacious, two-story taproom, along with a handful of outdoor tables. You can also purchase their delicious beer to-go in a small store right next to the taproom. Drop in, tee up a flight, and enjoy some of Maine's best craft beer in this fun, family-friendly brewery. read more

This has become our go-to take out place during our extended stay in Bar Harbor. We have always enjoyed the blueberry berry (which is not too sweet-just a Touch of the juicy berry flavor comes thru) and the IPA is also terrific. Food wise, we haven't gone wrong yet. The haddock sandwich is awesome-the salty panko crust is yummy! And adding a side salad is well worth it as the greens are fresh and the dressing is tasty. We also like the veggie burger -but ask for the mustard-it goes well. The pretzel and the crab quesadilla are also winners. The lime adds a nice touch to the quesadilla. A few things worth noting after paying two visits to Atlantic Brewing Midtown: (01) You won't find any of Atlantic Brewing's flagship beers on tap, but you can buy them in six-packs to-go. The several beers you will find on tap are experimental brews, so the flight is the way to go. (02) The food comes from next door at Midtown Burger. Tried a selection of beer at Atlantic Brewing Midtown on Saturday evening. A cool space, good service, and decent food, but I was underwhelmed with the beer and that was the reason I came. Quality: Since the Atlantic Brewing at Town Hill is currently shut down, we decided to visit the Midtown location instead. This larger location, which also has its own kitchen, is the perfect spot to try out their beer selection. Through The Flight and a few Taster Pours, we tried all seven beers on tap, Blueberry Ale, Real Ale, Mountain Hopper, New Guy IPA, Maine Logger Lager, Summer Ale, and Cadillac Mountain Stout. Maine Logger Lager was my surprising favorite, a very refreshing beer that was perfect on a damp day. While you can't avoid trying the Blueberry Ale, it is a place obsessed with blueberries, it simply did not work for me. I also was disappointed with the IPAs. With so many breweries pushing boundaries for IPAs, Mountain Hopper and New Guy IPA were lacking. During our visit we also ordered their Tater Tots, a newer menu item. They were a crispy treat, and I loved the sriracha, jalapeno, and ranch dip it was served with. Quantity: The signature The Flight comes with five 5oz Taster Pours to acquaint you with their signature beers. The Tater Tots provided a nice snack while sipping through the beers. Value: $11 for The Flight. $3 for 5oz Taster Pour. $5 for 12oz Large Pour. $6 for Tater Tots. Ambiance: Atlantic Brewing Midtown is a cool modern space in the center of the more rustic Bar Harbor tourist area. The building stands out from the surroundings with its more modern architecture. The bottom floor is split between a retail store and the bar area of the brewery. Then upstairs they have additional seating along with an outdoor deck. A few chairs also sit out front, but they seemed more for waiting on busy days than further expanded seating. They played relaxing oldies in the background and the vibe was very laid back. Crowd: On a rainy Saturday, with many folks unable to hike and the outdoor deck unavailable, it was about 30minutes to get a table. However, they were on the ball to keep people moving through their food and beer, without making things feel rushed, to get more customers in. Service: Our server was excellent and they had the food and beer flying to tables. The reduced capacity seems to have increased their efficiency. I also appreciate the measures they have taken for COVID, while still maintaining brewery essentials like flights and glasses.
