I was really impressed with this restaurant! I ate here last Thursday and I'm realizing I'm still dreaming about the Caprese Grilled Flatbread Pizza I ate (it is now the following Tuesday). Because of that, I truly owe this place the 5 star review it deserves. Myself and my party sat outside and though the air was crisp, we put our jackets on and enjoyed the fresh air. I hope when the pandemic is over we normalize outdoor eating even when it's a bit chilly. This place was dog friendly, and the server was really sweet to my friends pup that was with us. Server was really friendly and accommodating. My fiancé got the fried chicken and my friend got the fish and chips. Both loved their meals. Nano brewery with very good staple beers. I'm an IPA drinker however their Blonde ale was one of my favorites. Try a flight they are all very good. Also had raw oysters- super clean and fresh. Small but tasty. Kids had the fried pickle chips. Sliced super thin and light coating making them 'best pickle chips ever'. read more

Nice place. Let us drink in the back garden. Classy good service. Just now producing bottles. Pale ale was great. IPA good but strong bitter aftertaste like an imperial...but only 6.6%. Lager is sweet...not for me. Brown ale was smooth like an Irish stout and was a dark. Nice place!!! read more

The service was fast and friendly. They're using all precautions to keep their patrons safe, and have even created an outdoor dining area. The food was superb, the fries were fresh cut and the best I've had anywhere. The beer flights were delicious and came in 4 flight or a 6 flight. Definitely recommend this place. One thing, we had trouble finding it because it's in the same parking lot as a fine dining restaurant. But just one quick friendly call and we found it. read more

We've visited Deepwater Brewing a few times in our visits back to Blue Hill. Our first visit was in March of 2016 and was just my husband and I (we actually stayed at the AirBnB in the same parking area, I highly recommend!). We sat at the bar and the beers and food were delicious. It was busy, but it was also a Friday night. This most recent trip, labor day weekend, was not as pleasant. We arrived when they first opened, and having our 3 year old son with us, sat at a table this time. There is no kids menu. "it's a pub" you might say, but it's a restaurant, in a town with a lot of families and not a lot of local dining options, who get a ton of visitors in the summer months. Take the time and at least offer a kids sized dish or two. But, honestly, that wasn't really even a big deal. I ordered the haddock curry and asked them to add vegetables as well (per the suggestion on their own menu for the additional $$). When the curry came out, it was delicious...but had no vegetables in it. My husband's empty beer glass and my empty water glass sat for almost 10 minutes after our food was delivered, because no one bothered to check on us, the two waitresses working were too busy chatting and checking their phones a mere 20 feet from our table and to busy engrossed in themselves to a)come check and make sure everything was ok and b)get us another round and refill glasses. So by time she did check, I had eaten more than half of my curry and told her not to worry about the vegetables, just make sure we were not charged for adding them. The food overall was still good, but not as good as our first visit. The staff was terrible. There is nothing more annoying as a paying customer, having lazy service and being able to see the staff more engaged in their phones than their guests. I am sure my husband and I will go back, and make sure to sit at the bar again and give it another try when we visit again, but I wouldn't sit at a table and I wouldn't bring my family (who are life-long Blue Hill residents) there for a group dinner, simply because of the poor service. read more

I really want this place to be good, but the food always disappoints. Most recently had a burger that disintegrated into a mushy mess in my hands and very soggy french fries. The reviewer who said that they often run out of food was dead-on. In fact, it was laughable that they ran out of food on a night when everyone was at the new Farmhouse Inn up the hill. Having spent a few days wandering around Ellsworth, we decided to do something a little different, so made a short drive over to Blue Hill to visit this brewery and restaurant. The place was fairly busy, but knowing that they close at 9 p.m., we figured that our arrival would be at the last turn of the evening. The menu is nice, and not extensive, and flights of the local beers are offered if you would like to try more than one or two at a sitting. The deep water brewing company in Bluehill Maine is a wonderful casual addition to the Arborvine restaurant family. The bar restaurant brewpub is staffed by a wonderful crew :-) Shout outs from last night go to Sasho, Jane and Meredith! Thank you guys. Where this brewpub needs strengthening is in its consistency of food delivery. It is not the service of the food or the length of time from ordering to being served, it is the quality and presentation of the food. We had the local mussels du jour which were Florentine - spinach wine garlic. Meh. The mussels were very gritty and very pearly. The duck fat fries and sauces underwhelmed. The breweries IPA was tasty. The rose wine was not too sweet and well priced. The yelp reviews prior to mine, mention that the spot is hit or miss on the food. We were looking for fresh beer and a convivial atmosphere. This place is quite comfortable and the menu has many interesting takes on pub food. We had 2 beers the rye and the lager, they were good. I ordered the wedge salad and Szechuan wings, both were excellent. My husband got the burger, I didnt hear a word from him for 20 minutes, it was that good. I did, however, notice that the staff didn't seem very happy, as if morale was low. I have noticed that every time I have been in the pub. Arborvine is a very different vibe, stuffy, archaic even, but again, delicious. I hope the management is treating their staff well; happy staff means happy customers. read more

We stopped by DeepWater recently while on a week long getaway this winter in Bar Harbor. For the most part, it is the off-season in the general area, and the DeepWater Brew Pub is closed for the season, like many of the other businesses. They do, however, open on Fridays from 12-5pm so that you can fill and take home growlers and that is exactly what we did. I picked up some swag and a growler of the Amber Ale from the brew master, chatted a bit about beer and business, and continued on sightseeing. Once home a week later, I began drinking the Amber. It was smooth, crisp, and toasty, and I thought it was a really good brew. There is much more happening in the Spring and Summer there. The Brew Pub is open, there are more brews available, and they, even do some seasonal specials. I may be in the area at the end of August (hint to the wife) on another vacation and will stop in for a Vienna and maybe even an early Octoberfest. read more

This is definitely a completely different situation than the 5 star related establishment next door. Forget about coming on a Sunday. They run out of everything. The management neglects what is in demand in high season, no matter how low margins are. We were forced to generally have a burger or fish and chips. No ribs. No steak. No beef tips. It was a very good burger. Juicy and finally cooked properly (they actually give you what you ask for not a step more cooked). Fries were good. The DEA was our favorite beer. The others were ok. Dessert was a very good warm brownie and ice cream. Sweet, gooey and warm. My tummy was pleased. Service was overworked, understaffed, and it showed. They could really have a great beer and burger spot, especially since it is open later than the other restaurants around if they get their act together. Dropped by Deepwater Brewing Co. for dinner. I ordered: The Local Burger Fish Curry Sampling of four Deepwater Brewing Co. beers About the burger: If that was the way they made their burger out of the local beef, they should have been reported to the town hall for defamation. They stuffed the patty with bacon and cheese (a clear sign they are hiding something), which required the meat to be cooked a lot longer than necessary. When it was served, it had the texture of a well-used sponge that was incinerated for some time. Their bun looked like something directly out of Subway. Their fries were cold, greasy, soggy, and limp when served; the worst. The ripped pieces of lettuce and tomato were buried under the mass of the sorry fries. I don't know if it's far-fetched to say this, but a bar featuring good, classy beers shouldn't screw up their burgers, of all things. Fish curry: Described on the menu as a 'halibut filet simmered in red curry broth, with cashews, basil, lemongrass, ginger,' etc. Strange fare for a bar to offer, but surprisingly passable. The fish was tender and fresh, but the broth was tepid in temperature, and was too salty, sweet, and heavy on the lemongrass. The cheddar rosemary biscuit, served on the side, was crammed as an afterthought under the bowl on a plate, and was tough and salty. Quick words about their IPA, brown ale, Vienna ale, and stout : I generally liked what they were able to accomplish. All of them had character, integrity and class. The way they described their beers on the menu was spot on. What one should be aware of with these beers is the mundane uniformity of the after-taste: too bitter. The service was good, although I dropped by at a busier hour. Our server forgot to bring water and, at one point, came to us to confirm what we had ordered (lost the order ticket?). I wish the place to do better: it has great potential. The atmosphere is great. They need to catch up in the kitchen. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped in over Memorial Day weekend to try the beers and get some dinner. A very nice little place-- friendly staff, cute space, decent beers + bar selection, and interesting food options. The fried calamari with banana peppers + sweet chili sauce was QUITE good. The hanger steak was a bit heavy on the glaze but otherwise good. We did notice out of the corner of our eye that the fellow next to us was having a burger whose bun did not seem up to the challenge. Overall, the food seemed hit-or-miss and could use a bit of tightening up, but the other elements were all solid, and we were pleased with the experience and would be happy to come back. There aren't many good casual places to eat in this part of Maine, but this is one. read more

this is the best restaurant in blue hill. the service is absolutely wonderful. the food is delicious and reasonably priced. the environment is warm and you feel like a local when you dine with deepwater brewing. would highly recommend on your next visit. This place was pretty good, they brew their own beer and had several to choose from. Our waitress was extremely unknowledgeable about the beer - which seemed strange given that it's a brew pub. She couldn't answer any of our questions which were basic like "where is the IPA you have on tap from", her answer "I'm not sure New Hampshire or something like that"...... we got fried seafood and French fries which were okay, the fries had potential since they looked hand cut but they weren't cooked all the way and hard in the middle. I would try it again though and definitely go back for a beer. read more

Delicious food and yummy beer. My husband and I went in late on a Friday night at the end of October. We ordered the wings, fish and chips, house burger and 3 beers. All 3 beers were fantastic! Coffee stout a pale and a rye all were smooth and flavorful. The wings were just the right amount of spicy and sweet, while thee cucumber with yogurt sauce that came with the wings was perfect to eat in between each wing to cool off the spice. My fish and chips were amazing! The haddock was a huge fillet! I usually dislike beer batter but this one was light and not heavy. The tartar sauce had a lemon zing so good! The fries both my husband and I thought were seasoned and fried nicely. My husband said the burger was delicious a bit more raw than he wanted and we heard someone else complain about their burger rawness so keep that in mind when ordering . We finished off with the creme de mousse which was sweet chocolates and a hint of caramel. We walked out with a growler and purchased a beer glass. Overall a fantastic experience!
