    Outdoor tasting

Wine tastings outside! It's $12 for 6 pours and the glass is included. The tasting list had a good variety of dry and sweet, red and white, and this winery uses juice from all over the world for their wines. After your tasting be sure to take a look around the shop, in addition to their wines there's chocolate, wine accessories, a cooler with meats and cheeses, and much more. The staff was friendly. The two gender neutral restrooms are accessible from the outside. There's also a coffee shop open in the morning and a restaurant open for dinner, but we didn't go to either.

Just drop me off when they open and pick me up when they close and I'd be as happy as the day is long. Here I fell in love... with the Maine Midnight Blueberry wine. OMG. When in Maine... drink BLUEBERRIES!! It was the most delicious chocolate smell and flavor notes. The Valpolicea reserva was also delicious and something I've never heard of or tasted before. The winery has an assortment of charcuterie to accompany your tasting, nice outdoor seating to enjoy a glass of wine, and the most delightful staff who may or may not have poured an extra tasting here or there when we weren't looking. Love this place!

We did the wine tasting and I mostly did all of the specialty wines which were great! The blueberry specialty wine (not the Maine midnight one) was so good! Very sweet, so if you like dry, basically none of the specialty are for you. My husband got the midnight Maine one which was very heavy on the brandy, so if you like brandy, you'll love that one. The environment was a little off just because you're sitting right by the parking lot and the road is right there. You just hear all the cars passing by. Service was nice, very knowledgeable and kind. Really lead you through the tasting while giving you time to be alone. And the added touch of a sampling of s'mores chocolate bar was nice as well.

Had a nice wine tasting with Mary - 5 pours for $12. Wine bottle prices are reasonable and liked the wine. #Recommended #VickieTravelz

A huge thank you to the team at Bar Harbor Cellars as they let us come in for a tasting right after the 4:30 last seating and then talked to us for a good 20 extra minutes after closing. Paul and his team did an amazing job of making us feel welcome and telling us about Sweet Pea's legacy on the farm. We did a tasting and very reasonable to pick 5 wines. Being the very end of their season, we hope to come back to try more of their wines someday. Our rockstars were the blueberry (extremely well balanced and not too sweet!), the Sangiovese, and the cranberry! We also bought a chocolate bar that had a sweat pea design on top - the dark chocolate, coffee, and blueberry in combination was outstanding. We did not venture into the cafe or other areas of the grounds but it all looked very nice!

A cute winery in Bar Harbor..... Perhaps the only one . Their wines were good. Although None of their grapes are grown onsite, they do make their own wine. Grape vines are onsite just for looks. There was no discussion as to the type of wine we were tasting , considering the $12 per person tasting fee (6 choices ). Im taking away a star based on that. We got to take home our small wine glasses. The staff was pleasant but Interaction regarding our tastings is something we are used to when we go wine tasting in the Hudson Valley or the Fingerlakes. It was still a nice pit stop in our way back to our hotel . Looking forward to enjoying our blueberry wine, cranberry wine, and black current apple wine.

Came there last Saturday for wine testing since it's Heavy rain and we can't do anything else. They only open indoor, they said wait in time is about 40 mnts and will give us a call. They never call but we are camping so close to the winery anyway so we just swing by Seated in the bar. Sania is so nice and sweet. We can pick 6 wines from the list ( red/ wine/ special = sweet ) for wine testing. I didn't know until we paid that it cost us only $6/person ( what a steal ) wine is hit and miss. Rose was so bad, but Chardonnay was decent. Was hoping the blueberry ( it's a Maine thing) might be decent but it just taste sweet. I like the place though and recommend to go to this place if you have time to kill between Acadia

We stopped her yesterday after a last minute schedule change in our trip. What a wonderful tasting! For a party of 6 without a reservation, we were able to be seated for our wine tasting in less than 5 minutes. For $12, we could taste 5 different wines. They also gave us a sample of their homemade coffee to match the wines. Our sommelier Eric was amazing! So nice, timely, and knowledgeable. He made the experience great! We all went home with a bottle or 2, and would definitely come here again on our next visit to Bar Harbor.

My boyfriend and I swung by here on our way to Atlantic Brewing since I don't really like beer, and I was absolutely blown away by this winery! I tasted the rose, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, and I wanted to try more! We didn't have time to sit for the wine tasting since the cellars close at 5 but I want to come back! I even bought three bottles of the Rose to take home for the summer!

We stopped in here on our way to our Airbnb. I liked that you paid for your tasting beforehand. We chose 6 wines and took our sheets to the bar. The lady who did our serving was nice and led us through our tasting. The wines I tasted were the sweeter ones. I liked the black currant wine the best. As we were leaving town, we stopped by here again to pick up wine sleeves for our flights as well as a few bottles. The lady from our previous tasting allowed us to try the few wines we were debating between prior to buying. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area again.

My wife and I are off to Bar Harbor and simply had to stop by Bar Harbor Cellar Winery for a tasting. We were both extremely glad that we did as this winery certainly has perfected the wine tasting experience. The day was beautiful as was the garden we sat in with lovely background guitar music. We both sampled several wines and found all of them flavorful, especially Blueberry which we decided to buy a bottle for later consumption. It was sweet with hints of blueberries. At the beginning of our fantastic experience, Eric, stopped by with our first pour and offed us complementary chocolates that paired nicely with our wine selections. They are also pet friendly as we saw several dogs sitting with their owners. So, if you are traveling near Bar Harbor you must make Bar Harbor Cellar Winery a must.

Entered the place around 12:15 (approximately one hour after opening) to which we were greeted by a not-so-friendly host. Promptly after our entrance, we received a grimaced look from the host/ owner and were asked how many were in our party. After we replied "six people", she huffed a sigh and said "it's going to be a while..." and then "whispered" to the party in front of us that she "could not handle all this commotion". It felt like we were not welcome there and so we shortly left thereafter and did not proceed with any tastings. Tourists beware of large groups (six people)!! Wow, where do I start... this place, wine, and people are all truly wonderful…read more the place: if you're a 5-star kind of person, you may not feel overly impressed with the space. if you are a real, authentic person who enjoys farming, organic foods, and can appreciate a hard working man's labor of love - you will LOVE the property. It's a "working farm", meaning it's not all polished up for the masses like some other wineries. This is Jim's home, his working orchard, his place of fermentation, bottling etc. And, you get to feel all cozy in rustic barn he built while he describes his organic wines with passion, a true passion that comes from many years of experience making wine and serving others with love. the wine: goodness, it's delicious. It's not the super sweet syrupy kind of fruit wine that you may come to expect, it's still sweet, but far less sweet, and drier. it actually tastes like wine, not a fruit drink. it is DELICIOUS! and evidently, it is the ONLY organic fruit winery on the east coast!!! THAT is wild... why can't they all use fruit without chemicals and pesticides...?!? But, I guess that's Jim's advantage. We tried every one he had, and none disappointed. Blueberry, Cider, Rhubarb, Kiwi and Honey Mead. He had a few others in works, but not ready yet. Man, they were all seriously good. the people: Jim is basically a one-man show. His wife is a super sweet lady, who also had her own winery back in the day (pre-Jim), so her expertise and wisdom I am sure has a major influence on the quality of their wines. That said, her health hasn't been the best in recent times so Jim is juggling a lot helping her and tending to all that needs to be done with his winery. It truly is a labor of love, and it shows. Ask him about the history of his home, how half of it was brought in across the iced over lake by oxen over 100 years ago. Or about the barn that the tasting room sits in, the one he built with his own hands. Or about what makes his wines different and superior than anything else you'll find. He will carefully tell the rich stories, lending to a remarkable experience you will cherish and remember for years to come. I HIGHLY recommend checking out Shalom farms if in the area. It is very worth the visit. You too will walk away with a sense of "Shalom" knowing you're doing your body good with true organic wine, and your soul good by supporting such a beautiful family.

Wanting to stay away from overly sweet blueberry wine, we settled on Shalom orchard, which is in Franklin. The drive there is beautiful, winding & hilly off coastal route 1 through farmland, and blueberry feilds, past a tidal marshland. When we arrived we were greeted by the sweetest dogs. Then Mathias took us through a tasting explaining the types of varietals of fruit in each bottle and the process of making them, all while seated in a beautiful cozy tasting room made of big post and beam Timbers with a funky retro kitchen. It felt like being welcomed into someone's home. We got a bit of new school Honey in The Rock ciders and old school Shalom. One criticism-- it would be nice to have an outdoor tasting room or screen porch there to enjoy the grounds, which are beautiful and rustic overlooking a special part of Downeast maine off the beaten track of touristy lobster pots and fishing boats dotting harbors. If you're looking for a stuffy wine expert or perfectly manicured orchard and garden, look elsewhere. This is real Downeast maine. And the cider speaks for itself. These guys the new cider makers there are ushering in a new creative rebirth of Shalom's operation-- they are young but very talented. But expect no frills, and be open minded for an educational experience. Do take home a bottle or two of cider at the very least to support this local business. Especially if you just spent $30 on a lobster roll and/or bought a T-shirt that says Bar Harbor. Also PRO TIP while you're there a.) hit hog bay pottery and b.) schoodic hollow local farm stand for self help self pay honor system goods. Now you have cider/wine, local arts/crafts and tasty produce. Congrats! You have just hit the holy trifecta of really experiencing and supporting our hyper local Maine makers and doers.
