We got a private 1 hour tour of his historical collection of memorobilia *and* we got to actually split some granite ourselves. Very interactive, and we got some polished stones to take home. This tour was absolutely the highlight of my 4 year old son's trip (mine also). There is a whole setup for school groups, so there is a lot here for kids to see and do. We so enjoyed talking with Steve, he answered all our questions. His extensive collection of photos and his knowledge of the history of Maine's granite industry is fascinating. This is a *must do* for anyone nearby, and be sure to leave a generous donation.

Blueberry pancake breakfast to a lobster dinner! If those do not appeal, there are food trucks and local restaurants. While you are there, enjoy some local shopping. We started out the day by shopping at all the outdoor vendors. After wandering for an hour we decided to watch the lobster boat races and then finished out the day with their lobster dinner and some music from their musicians. In the end, we loved this little festival and although we had no idea how to watch and judge the lobster boat races, we felt like part of the community. In the future we hope to attend this festival again because it was a blast!

The chard, corn, head lettuce, slicing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, frozen blueberries, scallions, white onions, sweet peppers, fresh baked bread and "Mud Flats" crackers were unbelievable! I was able to pick up the next afternoon. What was really mind blowing though were the beautiful beet greens! Their balm is great in the winter for dry hands and probably if you are out and about hand sanitizing a lot these days. I just called and when I didn't get an answer the guy called me back later. When we arrived for pick up he came out and got my name and then went and got our order. He was masked and there was a good safe protocol in place and chickens free range everywhere:) they accept checks and cash, but you need exact change unless you are going to go back another time and use up your credit. The Joseph Curtis house at the top of the Trail provides a…read morecultural history into how Joseph (someone not born into wealth & was an architect by trade) became the area's philanthropist and dedicated much of the land to the park via a Trust. There is a volunteer at the home who provided great insight and history into its owner and the home itself. One note: the famous apple tree in the Thuya Gardens is going to eventually be removed due to its age (100+ years) and in order to best preserve the surrounding flowers in the park; after much debate it was determined that the tree could not be saved.

I came in here completely only intending to buy one piece of artwork and wound up purchasing five total- although three of them were gifts for others! The art is completely reasonably priced and all the prices include the frames which is a huge bonus considering half the cost of purchasing a piece of art is getting it framed properly! They do ship the art at reasonable prices to locations within the US so don't worry about not having enough luggage space to bring something home. The gallery owner is clearly passionate about what he does and very knowledgeable about all the artwork and is more than willing to help you pick out the perfect frame for your picture. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Bar Harbor!

The gentleman who assisted us today was so enthusiastic and eager to discuss any painting we were interested in. He definitely knew his art and encouraged us to spend time picking out a piece and then assisted us in matching it with the perfect frame. We spent about 45 minutes with him and I have to say, I feel as though we learned a lot. We fell in love with a gorgeous oil painting on canvas and were very excited to purchase from him. He was able to tell us the technique used to create it and told us a little bit about the artist too. Plus, everything was half off, frame included. Great guy, awesome art shop to peruse and possibly purchase from. It's hard to leave without taking something with you.
