I went out and shut the doors for the theaters right around our and then the doors for Narato so that I can actually listen to the Nosferatu movie not every other movie that had allowed crash bang audio track. I have been a long time patron of this theater. 20+ years. I've seen many owners, tons of changes, the scare that was Covid-- but one thing was always consistent besides the fresh popcorn. The staff. Many of us know who I'm talking about. The projectionist- Gracia- was there for longer then I had been a patron. She ran that place from the ground up. She even crowd funded (which I supported) purchasing the theater in 2019 before it was sold from under her. She was the bones the bread and the butter of that place. It was a labor of love and watching her adapt over the years and be so consistent was such a joy. Along with her awesome t shirts. This year there was yet another change of ownership. And I have come to learn that she was discarded like her 25 years of service meant nothing. And not only that, I was lied to that she left on her own. Which isn't the case. They also let go another staff member that has disabilities but a whole lot of heart. Sam was the light of my weekend. They worked there 12 years. My heart is heavy. This place was much more than a cinema. It was community. And now it just feels cold. I will not be returning.

Show your tickets, order your food and take your seats. Straightforward. Theres also a nice area outside for sitting with umbrellas if you want to come early and eat outside, with a view of the park. Our movie was a little lame but hey we picked it, dang. It is a relatively small theater so definitely order your tickets early. We did maybe 3 days beforehand and there were lots of seating options.

What a unique and wonderful find!…read more I wanted to see a movie that came out less than two weeks ago, but when I searched showtimes my usual (closer to home) theater had no more showings. But Maine Film Center was listed with showtimes, so I decided to give this new place a try! And I'm so glad I did! The building and amenities are all new and stunning! The theater was small but had very comfortable seats (all with cup holders). The audio and visual quality was excellent too. I bought a small popcorn too and it was the best popcorn I've ever had at a movie theater! The popcorn kernels had great natural flavor and were enhanced only with a sprinkle of salt and the optional butter, which tasted like real melted butter. There was no taste of icky oils and powders like at other movie theaters. However, for those wanting a bolder flavor, there was an array of popcorn seasonings on the counter for customers to add to their popcorn if they so choose. The staff was also pleasant and helpful, helping me with my transactions, pointing me in the direction of restrooms, and answering any of my questions. I highly recommend the Maine Film Center and I look forward to going back!
