The space itself is architecturally stunning and the acoustics in the performance hall are truly incredible. My husband and I were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who were more than willing to answer our questions and direct us to our seats. The performance itself was remarkable. Having seen many orchestral productions of The Four Seasons, I thought I knew exactly what to expect. To my surprise and delight, this performance was unparalleled by anything I had seen before. The passion with which each note was played, the warm and informative introductions by Maestro Richman, and the spectacular soloist(s) - simply moving. I would recommend the Bangor Symphony Orchestra not just as a performance, but as an experience. Bring your friends, children, and family. The BSO is not to be missed!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly employees, R2D2 (by Paul's R2D2) and Mandalorians (by the Mandalorian Mercs). It was very cool and made you very excited for the music to come. The show itself was phenomenal! With the conductor, Lucas Richman, giving us a mini blurb about each song to come, I got to know the music of John Williams better. I would have to say the music from Harry Potter was my favorite, but the Jaws theme gave me chills and made my heart pound a little harder :) The Bangor Symphony Orchestra performed each song with such intensity! Can't wait for more shows like this one.

They even had a Lego version of the shark popping out of the water on the concessions counter! Very charming. The seats were comfortable enough (although perhaps a bit narrow) and there were no bad views. I love that there's a balcony! The staff was super friendly and they had a great selection of concessions. The popcorn was fresh and really reasonably priced. It's a great part of the community: they host live events, screen local films, and offer screenings like Jaws. They have a movie-themed cafe next door to boot. I'd absolutely be a regular if I were local. There's no assigned seating for movie screenings, so you may want to arrive early if it's a popular showing.

You can find the Strand Theatre at 345 Main St, Rockland, ME 04841 pretty much in the heart of…read moredowntown, slightly south of the center of Main. The theater still has the original marquee and is lit up when active so it's easy to spot. There's parking out front and in several lots a block or so away - we didn't have any issues with finding a spot. Also, parking appears to be free after 6:00 PM (otherwise there's a 2 hour limit). We were visiting friends in coastal main and after a full day of hiking, visiting lighthouses and dinner at a local seafood joint, we decided to hit the Barbie movie at the Strand. Adult tickets were $9 which were super reasonable (in Atlanta it would have been $16, to provide a comparison). There's a ticket boot at the front to one side of the entry door and someone to tear and return the stub just inside. This is a surviving classic old theater - something you rarely see these days and from the programming appears to be quite active, both for running movie productions and for local use. It has a wonderful interior with lots of wood and a full balcony (if you haven't experienced balcony seating it's something to try - that's where we sat). Concessions were reasonable and both the theater and perhaps more importantly, the restrooms (in the basement) were very clean and well maintained. We had a great time with Barbie. The concessions were reasonable and the staff excellent - you could tell that they took great pride in the theater.

We were in the rear of the first floor orchestra section and it was fine. Parking is fairly easy to find, even during Christmas shopping time like when we went. They are trying to do the right thing currently during Clovis, requiring masks and proof of vaccination. Of course they can't do much about the losers who take them off once they sit down. They made an announcement, but you can hardly except volunteers to go around and enforce the rule and risk a scene with a yahoo. I only had a minor beef with them when we went: our show started 20 minutes late . There was no obvious reason as attendees had stopped coming in. Normally I wouldn't have cared, but it had started snowing earlier and I would have preferred to hit the road sooner and gotten home before midnight. It was a stressful drive, but that wouldn't prevent me from attending another event -- perhaps not in the dead of winter, though!

There are two support columns so if you are sitting in certain seats on the right side or left side of the 3rd balcony there may be a slight obstruction. I was there for a concert so it was not a huge deal but if it was a show or play it would have been more problematic. The staff is friendly and helpful. The acoustics are great. Beautiful, old opera house.

Yes, it is small and, no, it isn't wheelchair accessible, but it is a perfect location and size for intimate performances and smaller class sizes. Communication was quick, courteous, and thorough, pricing was unbelievably fair, and the class was SO MUCH FUN. The space was also really nice, with exposed beams, etc. Andrea -- our teacher -- had a great sense of humor, was well-prepared, and the hour flew by. She made some great recommendations for where to grab a cocktail before and after, too -- we were in town to celebrate, after all! I highly recommend booking a private class with Andrea. She's LOVELY. It was such a fun change of pace in terms of the usual bachelorette party agenda, and we'll have some new moves to bust out at the wedding in a couple of weeks!
