Rich DeCarlo is the head physical therapist at this location. Unfortunately, I have had to use his services several times over the years. Fortunately, Rich has performed virtual "miracles" on several episodes which required therapy.
The most recent time was after I fell and tore off three of the four muscle groups that support the left shoulder, (rotator cuff). The first surgeon advised that I needed a complete shoulder replacement. The second opinion surgeon had to come in to review the "range of motion" exam that his assistant had performed. After a half hour of viewing the MRI of my left shoulder, the actual surgeon returned to the examining room.
This second doctor said, "based upon the review of the MRI that he just viewed, you should NOT be able to do what the other doctor told him that the patient (me), had just performed". The doctor had me go through the same motions. He was simply amazed and said that any surgery would reduce my range of motion by about forty percent!
The doctor said that he was not in the business of making things worse. So I should continue doing whatever I was doing. I told the surgeon that I credit RICH DeCarlo, (Athletico, Elburn, IL), with all the range of motion , that I have. This includes only a small amount of discomfort in going about my daily routine, thanks to what Rich had accomplished.
Based upon Rich's guidance, insight into my injury, and working with me, I am prepared to continue managing this situation without any need of surgery. Once again, Mr. DeCarlo has brought me back from some pretty difficult situations, (i.e. total knee replacement re-hab).
