Excellent Greek restaurant and diner in downtown Safety harbor. I sat at the counter area. Service was excellent. I had the Mediterranean omelette: 4 egg omelette with gyro, spinach, tomatoes, olives, pepperoncini, and feta with tzatziki sauce on the side and hash browns and toast. All were excellent, the omelette was a great portion size. I didn't have to wait but as I was leaving around 10am on a Sunday they started to get busy. Closed on Tuesdays, open 730am to 230 pm every day but Sundays it closes at 130.

One thing that I didn't care for off the bat: Christmas music!!! When the waitress acknowledged us after a few minutes, I gently said something to that effect. She looked at us and told us it's the radio station... When she came back to take our food order, she said how annoyed SHE is by the nonstop Santa songs, etc. We all had a good laugh and on we went. Queen Bee asked for the breakfast burrito, which is egg, sausage, peppers onion, tomato and cheddar. For $2 more you can have taters, fruit or grits too. I chose Italian omelet: three eggs with Italian sausage, peppers, onion, mutz...I chose home fries and rye toast, as omelets and other breakfast platters offer toast along with grits, taters or fruit. The taters can be either hash browns or home fries: as you choose. I asked for mine crisp with onions: NYC on a plate, Breakfast Division! Meantime, based on our waitress' conversations as she was hustling, I can say one thing. She (Judy) has a lot of regulars and has been slinging hash here for a good long while. Judy has a very friendly manner and just enough sass to remind me of a real diner like I used to enjoy back in my youthful NY decades. Both our breakfasts were quite generous in size and flavor. Her burrito was a huge parcel of meaty, cheesy, eggy gooeyness, all wrapped in a tomato tortilla! It reminded me of a cross section of a fire hose!! She put a big dent in it, which I find a lil shocking. My Queen Bee has a small appetite but that bugger was addictive apparently. My omelet was well prepared too. Tasty and well balanced rainbow of Italian flavor; a lil less flavorful than Acropol but still quite good. Home fries were kinda crisp and a nice crown of grilled onions atop. They needed a lil more flavoring to rival Acropol but that's what salt and pepper shakers can do. Good diner spuds have paprika in the mix too. At any rate: would we return here? I'd say yes, because it is a clean looking spot. It provided good food at a relatively reasonable price ($20.50 + tip), as well as a great, friendly and feisty waitress. We both liked it and there's a few lunch options we'd both like to try also.

The food is good, the service is fast and d the ambience is great. We drove all the way from Tampa just to enjoy this meal for second time

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday around 12:30. We ordered the chicken kabob special, the spinach pie special and the chicken souvlaki special. Each on came with a huge portion of Greek salad. The salad was my favorite part and I would return just for that. There was a big heap of potato salad on top. The staff were busy but nice. It's located on a strip of shops and restaurants in Safety Harbor so you can walk around after lunch to explore or grab a coffee or ice cream. We heard that they are especially known for their breakfast so will have to return to give that a try. Ambience is casual diner with Greek decor.

Great breakfast spot. Quick, friendly service. Large portion at a reasonable price point.

We have become regulars here since moving here in 2020. Great for both breakfast and lunch! I love a diner that's old school, and you can't go wrong with many items on the menu. Try the tuna salad...

This place started with a four star review...but poor-or lack of--service reduced it to 2 stars, Which in my opinion is don't bother, there are plenty of other good restaurants to choose from. Sat down outside with a friend with about 90 minutes for a leisurely lunch. Server seemed friendly and helpful. Discussed menu options and her recommendations and went with those. Drinks brought out and....,nothing for ?20 minutes until our food was brought out. Shortly after, my knife fell on the floor and my ice tea needed a refill--and nothing again for at least another twenty minutes. No exaggeration on the time. We were the only ones outside, so apparently we were forgotten. She never wants checked on us to see if everything was OK or if we needed anything at all. When she finally did come out, she brought the check and asked if we wanted refills for our drinks. We said yes, and I asked for a new nice, which at that point was a moot point. Was was basically using my fork to try to cut my food... when she returned with a knife, she forgot to bring our refills. She didn't return for another 10 minutes to collect the credit card to go with the check. After another request, she came out with our drinks now to go, since the restaurant was technically closed ( after 2:30). My meal:spanakopita on Greek salad. Salad decent, not overly fresh, served with potato salad and beets which apparently is the norm in Florida.Spanakopita warm , not hot, with the aforementioned problem of lacking clean knife to cut. Fair, not fantastic. My friend had no complaints, nor positive remarks about her meal. Bottom line: your staff is your business. If they suck, you suck. Go ELSEWHERE.

Nice little local place on Main Street. They serve breakfast all day!!! Prices are reasonable for sure. Very homey. Staff is so pleasant! My husband got the gyro and loved it. I got the Greek salad. Not impressed. But the pita it came with was warm and fresh. My son got a beautiful spinach egg white omelet. Very good! We also ordered a pecan pancake and my husband and son couldn't some eating it. They didn't leave any!

If you're a New Yorker and feeling homesick for a diner, this is the place to visit. Athens Restaurant is a mom and pop restaurant that has the fixings of a typical diner you'll find up north. I walked in around noon and was pleasantly surprised I could still order breakfast. I ordered the 2 eggs special with hash browns and toast and ::drum roll please:: it was only $6.75! What in the world?! In this day an age it's hard to find anything for a good deal. The food was a bit bland but nothing the salt and pepper shakers couldn't fix. I was satisfied with my meal and will definitely come back to try lunch or dinner.

We woke up a little late on a Sunday morning but I was so happy to see that this restaurant serves breakfast all day! I highly recommend Mediterranean omelette, the tzatziki sauce was so fresh! The biscuits and gravy were also very tasty. We ended our meal with some baklava which was served warm and coffee. I will definitely be back for another lazy Sunday breakfast!

A treat after a long walk in Safety Harbor. Banana and pecan pancake crisp bacon egg and fresh OJ. Under $10!

Visiting Safety Harbor and want a quick inexpensive breakfast or lunch? Open 7 to 230 pm everyday except Sunday 7 to 130 pm. Athens on Main is a simple diner that is a Safety Harbor old time landmark for the last 30 plus years. Nothing fancy just good food with lots of Greek style options and the traditional breakfast and lunch fare. Two can get out for less than 20 bucks for breakfast. Today I had a banana and pecan pancake with bacon and one egg. Plus fresh OJ for 9 dollars. Plus tip. Sat outside and enjoyed the morning.

Our party of three were seated right away and brought menus. We scoured the menu and were brought drinks. My daughter chose the Black and Blue Bacon Burger, my daughter's beau selected the Bacon and Cheddar Burger, and I wanted to try the Womelette with Spinach and Feta. We chatted for a while and looked around the visually stunning room. There was a plush pony playing the piano, multiple unicorns, a psychedelic deer head, rainbows, and posters all around. It was walking into a My Little Pony dream. This also was the theme outside and even on their "company car." Our food came and the two were very impressed with the burgers. They were both tasty and did not spare the amount of Bacon! My first attempt at a Waffle/Omelet, the Womelette, was disappointing. I envisioned two halves (or whole) waffles, made from eggs alone, with the Feta and Spinach inside. Instead, they were placed on top of the waffle. This made for a very dry and disappointing taste. I'm glad I did try it. Luckily the two shared a couple bites of their burgers. A pleasant atmosphere, almost circus-like, and definitely eye catching. Service was great and I think it would be a great place to bring our grandkids.
