Absolute clown show over there. I bought a used car there and it needed new tires and they wouldn't help me get new tires at all which I found very unusual. It's pretty common for dealerships to sell cars with bad tires but it's highly unusual for them not to budge at all on a simple set of new tires to go with your new car. I took the car to discount tire right after and the tires were cooked 3/32 all the way around. I hope I have to never do business with them again but I got the car I wanted so it wasn't all bad. I can confidently say that they care nothing about the customer experience over there and will hassle you about any little detail you bring up, gaslight you, and straight up lie to get the sale! read more

They went above and beyond to help me durring one of the most difficult times in my life. I have breast cancer and my work car broke down. I need to work to pay for treatment and surgery. The longer I have to wait, the closer it is to spreading. I desperately need my car. It was at another dealership for a week and all they did was hook a computer up to it and told me it would be another couple weeks till they would look at it. I begged them for help and was told that I was welcome to take the car and leave. So I did. I took the car to Athens Ford and explained my whole situation. They said they would try to get to it as soon as the could. Everyone is backed up right now, so that's understandable. They did not disappoint. I got a call THE VERY NEXT DAY. The news was not good, but that's OK. It was an answer, and that's all I needed. The foks at Athens Ford made it possible to able to act now instead of having to wait weeks to get the same inevitable news. The parts my car needed was on backorder and would take 4 months to get (thats not their fault). I can't wait that long, so the decision was made to buy another car. We purchased a beautiful pre-owned Explorer from their sales department, and I'll be back to working next week. Beware! If you value your money and credit as much as they value the size of their pockets you will go elsewhere. You would think this is a reputable dealership but it is absolutely not. You need to consider the fact that a large dealership can afford a slew of attorneys with all the profit they make rippling ppl off if they choose to. So a large dealership isn't necessarily safer if management or salesman have no integrity. I've bought 10 cars in my lifetime and all were basically good purchases however the purchase I made in 10/21 I will forever regret! It's had such a negative impact on my life! In considering a purchase at Athens Ford I would suggest it be your last resort and be very diligent in inspecting the vehicle(s) , reading the fine print, and never go alone. I thought because I am familiar with finance and this was a larger dealership it would be like all the other purchases in the past. They are very well versed in the art of being crooked and you are no longer a valued customer after those papers are signed. Athens collision is affiliated so keep that in mind. It's my opinion that management sets the tone and the tone is the same from top to bottom at this dealership but when you think your at the top, you have nowhere to go but down. Im limited on what I choose to say but with anything in life, that should be a joyful experience, a vehicle purchase can also quickly turn into a nightmare so it's best to shop around and use your gut feeling. My purchase wasn't a one day quick deal as most of my other purchases. I state take your time shop around but when you deal Athens ford several days can just gives them more time and ammunition to take advantage. They may not take total advantage of just anyone because that would simply not be very smart but instead they function like a school of sharks. I do not believe every single dealership is this crooked. I really wish I had of went anywhere rather than Athens Ford. Although all the 10 previous purchases that went well in the past I made on my own I would not advise ladies to enter this dealership alone and try to make a purchase. Looking for an F350 in a hurry. With COVID, and limitations on parts from China, they are in very short supply...Very difficult to find any inventory anywhere in the country. Found exactly what I was looking for, and told the salesperson I was dealing with I wanted it, sight unseen, and no negotiation at all. Filled out the paperwork he sent me, signed all of it, and supplied my credit card information for the deposit to ensure it was mine. Got his confirmation via text and email saying it was being held. This was on a Friday. I am in the middle of moving, and very clearly explained I could not get to them until Thursday (5 business days) because it's over two hours away from me. Called today (Tuesday) to see what I needed to bring (cashiers check, money order, etc), and was informed they sold it to someone yesterday. Of course I raised holy hell, and told the manager exactly how I felt, with a few expletives woven in. The Sales Manager I was speaking to then went on about how bad an employee the salesperson I was dealing with was. How he didn't follow instructions, and that he wouldn't be employed there for long. What's funny is he didn't even realize how unprofessional his behavior and statements were. Double fail. Awful experience, with the unfortunate continuation of the poor reputation car dealers and sales-people have. They should be embarrassed. After spending another 6 hours today looking, I found a similar truck in Dallas, and was able to reserve this truck and arrange shipping to my home for $600. I just bought a car from Athens Ford this week. First, the dealership is a very nice, clean place. There are many friendly people there. The customer lounge is very comfortable with unlimited water/coffee, and large screen TVs if you have to wait for a bit. Their selection of cars is very impressive, with lots of options and trims for each model type. Peter was our direct salesman, and while it wasn't a perfectly smooth transaction, he did seem to be doing his very best on our behalf. The one reason I took off two stars for this review was due to the poor treatment we received from Jason Klein, their "floor sales manager." I urge you to avoid dealing with him if you can. If you want the "typical car salesman" and all the manipulative baggage that comes along with that, Jason is your man. In the looping videos in the customer lounge, Jason is featured talking about his "great relationships with customers" and "knowing their kid's names and their birthdays." I guarantee you he doesn't know my daughter's name or her birthday because he didn't ask and didn't care, although my daughter was there for the test drive and the purchase. Watch out. The price he told me verbally is NOT the price I paid. Buyer beware. Otherwise, the staff and even the financing folks at Athens Ford were very pleasant to deal with, and we're very, very happy with our Ford Fusion. read more

Our experiences with Athens Ford could have not been more stellar. From our sales person Jessica Marston to the floor manager Jason Klein we were extremely impressed with Athens Ford. We were in town from Ohio with a specific set of options that we were seeking on a 2014 Explorer. As the 2015 models were rolling out the supply of 2014's were dwindling. Our local Cincinnati dealer completely fumbled a few days before we left for a tour of UGA. The Cincinnati dealership was a bunch of bumbling fools with no polish or business savvy whatsoever. The phrase totally unprofessional comes to mind. Athens Ford was able to negotiate a better deal than we had expected them to be able to do. I directly thank Jason for saving this deal. This dealership renewed our faith in the whole car buying process which as most will agree can be a stressful experience at best. Not only were Jessica and Jason able to find an appropriate 2014 model for us but they were also able to accurately appraise our trade which was still back in Ohio. Wait, it gets better! The 2014 was at another dealership but when the rubber met the road the other dealership had already sold it. Jason Klein was able to source a 2015 with an even more appropriate list of options for us at a reduced price than we had already negotiated for the 2014 model. Since we were only in town for a few days we knew that we wouldn't be driving home in our new car especially since additional items needed to be installed. Athens Ford did not blink at all. The car was delivered to us back home! I have never had such excellence in a car buying experience even when buying luxury brands such as BMW, Porsche. To be complete I'll add that the dealership is a very clean, modern one. The remainder of the staff were even nice in passing and took the time to make eye contact, hold doors for us and offer us refreshments. Excellent customer service. Athens Ford and specifically Jessica and Jason went above and beyond the call. We will likely never seek service in Georgia but I'd buy a car from this team again in a heartbeat. Kudos! read more

I went to Athens Ford expecting to be fleeced by your typical sketchy car salesman who only wants to make as much commission as possible at the expense of the customer. Any past experience buying a car has resulted in me having the distinct feeling of being taken advantage of and slightly violated. With this mindset, I went into Athens Ford prepared for battle and expecting the worst. I couldn't have been more wrong! The salesman that helped me was an absolute joy to work with -- he happily rode along with me as I test-drove virtually every car on the lot. Once I decided to settle down and do some paperwork, the owner of the dealership came down and talked with me, and finagled an even better deal on my car of choice -- a 2012 Ford Focus SE. Speaking of deals, the folks at Athens Ford couldn't have treated me better or been more accommodating. They gave me an incredible deal on the car and didn't bat an eyelash when I requested it in standard transmission -- they just called the nearest Ford dealership that had it in stock and had it delivered the next day. When all was said and done, I left with a brand new car, more money in my pocket than I thought possible and an incredibly more positive perspective about car salesmen and dealerships. It's actually been harder for me to order food at a restaurant than it was for me to buy a car here. Be sure you check your owner's manual and go by Ford's maintenance schedule listed in that instead of what they recommend. They recommend maintenance way earlier than it is needed (100k mi maintenance at 60k mi) with no reasonable explanation as to why other than they believe it's best for your vehicle. read more

Made an online appointment a week in advance with Athens Ford through the corporate fordowner.com website to get some recall work done on my vehicle. I also got a coupon for their "The Works" oil change and vehicle inspection, so I scheduled that, as well. The morning of my appointment, I show up at the service department and they have no record of my appointment. To their credit, it wasn't busy that day, so they very quickly got me set up and took care of the recall problem and took the vehicle away for the oil change and inspection. No complaints from me so far. Nice waiting area, probably hung out for about 30 minutes while they changed the oil and inspected my vehicle. My advisor Tiffany came in to get me when my vehicle was ready and went over everything they did, plus had the usual list of items that they determined I needed to have done in addition, to include a power steering flush, and about $600 worth of sway bar, tie rod, and alignment work, along with a recommendation for four new tires. No pressure to do the work right then or anything, so I just paid for the oil change and went on my way. At this point I was fairly well satisfied with the service. Of course, once I left the dealership, two minutes down the road, my Check Engine light comes on. I decided against going back to the dealership to see what the deal was, as I had already decided to take the vehicle to my regular mechanic to let him give me a second opinion. Interestingly enough, my mechanic found nothing wrong with the tie rods or sway bars (he did replace the end links, which AF recommended). Instead, worn rotors on my brakes were causing the wobbling. He took the vehicle to another mechanic to get a third opinion, which was the same. The check engine light was due to a bad oxygen sensor. I couldn't tell you if that was something that normally should have been picked up on in an inspection or not. Probably just pure dumb luck that the light came on when it did. I'm not necessarily ripping on Athens Ford, as I don't know how they came up with their diagnosis. I'm pretty sure they didn't take the brakes apart (and I certainly don't expect them to on an oil change/inspection coupon deal). I just plan to continue to use my trusted local mechanic to do any major repair work on my vehicles that are no longer under warranty. Otherwise, the employees seemed friendly enough and I was satisfied with the oil change. read more

I love Athens, GA, but was having a busy week and they made it convenient to purchase exactly the vehicle I wanted without having to leave my office. My salesperson, Bill Plachter, made it easy. He brought the vehicle I wanted to Atlanta to show me, and then delivered it after the purchase. The finance area was easy to work with and did not pressure me at all. They discussed my options for financing and warranties and we closed the deal at what I think is a fair price. Purchased a 2015 F150 from them about three years ago. Pressured me into getting a longer term loan that I wanted and the salesman kept on telling me that all I had to do to keep the powertrain warranty good was change my oil. This was my first major vehicle purchase so I didn't know any better. Two years later when the truck was having problems and I went in for service they told me my warranty was voided because I didn't flush the radiator. And this was only after weeks of me trying to get them to call me back or text you back and I had to go in person. Had an appointment up there for Wednesday at 7:20 for them to do a quick inspection I dropped it off 30 minutes early and called them about 10 o'clock to ask when it would be done. They said should be able to get to it in the next day or two my appointment was at 7:20 why sit appointment if you can't get to it when you say. Blake Christian which was the guy I was dealing with laughingly said you better rent you a vehicle and then refused to talk to me I had to go back up there in person just to see what I could work out. They were very dishonest and outright lied about several items that pertained to financing. This made the whole experience feel very sleazy. This is a review of the staff at Athens Ford. They are a great bunch of people, they work hard and try to do a good job. Unfortunately they are selling Fords. I bought a new F-150 pickup - $52K! Imagine my dismay! - the sunroof leaked and the bottom seat cover was not properly attached resulting in a slipped and wrinkled seat. First Ford instructed the dealer to remove the seat and tighten the cover, at that point the attachment points were not properly attached and when they were, the material had stretched beyond repair. So another trip had to be scheduled to return when Ford sent the entire seat. Three trips to get two things fixed that should have been found at the plant. The Ford people could learn some things from Toyota for sure! I traded in a 2007 Toyota with 97,000 miles that never gave me a problem. Perfect from the factory ---- hear that Ford? FROM THE FACTORY! I had a real bad experience at Athens Ford this morning. Got home and checked Yelp. They have 5 reviews of recommendation and 88 reviews from dissatisfied customers. This is the second time that I waited nearly 2 hours for a "Quick Lane" oil change with an appointment. Then after I left I had a large blotch of used oil in the center of the steering wheel. i contacted them via their live chat and simply asked the price they were asking for an explorer that was listed online with no price. i was then asked for my phone number or email to respond. i simply wanted a price not an avenue for them to continue to call me and or email me if i wasn't interested in their price. once i stated this the chat was canceled by the individual on their side. a few mins lated i started getting phone calls and messages. i absolutely hate when dealerships refuse to simply answer a simple question without tons of contact info. it's insane! as a result i'll never shop here. i prefer dealing with akins in winder, they will answer questions without all the data requests and without all the pursuit that follows. read more
