We also knew that we wanted to have the kind of wedding that requires a lot of preparation, but that we didn't want have wedding planning become second jobs for us. We tried out a couple wedding planners, and eventually we sat down with Laura. She methodically worked with us on how to turn all the things we like and care about and that unite as a couple into a wonderful and perfect wedding -- and helped us organize it all into manageable chunks with a clear timeline. We started our wedding planning with Laura and Olivia, and eventually when Laura went on maternity leave we stayed with Olivia for the rest of our journey. Each had their own personal touches and ways of working, but both were incredibly professional, helpful, and organized. We often showed up to meetings knowing the general vibes that we wanted, not necessarily specifics or even how to express those "vibes", and Laura and Olivia turned those into concrete vendors, choices, and timelines. In the end, we made it through planning without it ever feeling like a second job, and we were in a great position to enjoy the most perfect wedding we could imagine: a big party with all our favorite people, and all our favorite things, celebrating what we love most about each other. More on the big day: Olivia and team managed the day exceptionally well. Everything was in place without us ever having to worry about a single thing. The day was fun and light, from getting dressed and having photos taken all over the city, all the way through the end of the night. Throughout the day, we kept getting asked how we found our amazing venue, caterers, photographer, DJ, florist... the list goes on. Each and every one of them was recommended by Laura. She did a great job of recommending a few vendors that she knew and trusted that fit with our vision for our wedding day, and each one of them did a phenomenal job. Our food was delicious, our music was a hit, and the decorations were beautiful, and we weren't worried at all on the day. Days and weeks after the wedding, we're still a little shocked: we knew this would be a party with our favorite people and favorite things, but even we didn't expect the end result to be so much fun.

During our consultation she actively listened to our vision and put it into words to help us understand what our day would entail. My husband and I had no idea what we were doing when we embarked on this process. We had a general vision, but did not know how to pull it together. We had several design meetings and after each meeting Laura left us feeling confident that everything was going to come together. Laura has a great sense for design and event planning. I feel like she can see into the future and predict flaws, prevent them and execute our vision. The day of our wedding we were calm because Laura checked all the boxes, literally! She was able to command the room, and still put us at ease so we could enjoy our day. Our day had a few tiny setbacks but Laura did what she could to make it right. Every day since we wed, we've raved to each other about how pleasant the day went and how seamless everything was--especially as we've listened to nightmare stories of friends + family trying to plan weddings during COVID. We first met with Becky in March after confirming our date with Chicago's city hall. She was super professional over Zoom and answered all of our questions about the order of the day, what we should bring, and what to expect from her. In addition to her beautiful photography skills, we also decided to work with her hair and makeup team for our wedding day. She connected us to everyone we'd be working with and the whole process went so smoothly. Becky was available via email and text starting from the day we reached out all the way to the moment we met her at city hall. She always responded within hours--super helpful for us--and no questions were left unanswered. She also had a great grip on the logistical aspects of navigating city hall during COVID, which was super handy. On the day of our wedding, our makeup artist, Carla, arrived at our hotel at 6:00am and did our hair and makeup perfectly, based on the pictures we sent in advance. Becky met us at city hall at 9:00am sharp and after getting hitched at the courthouse, took us to several (probably 10-15?) different locations downtown to shoot... plus one spot in Wicker Park we'd specifically requested to have photos taken. My partner and I asked her to coach us through poses and Becky was brilliant, asking us to walk towards her laughing, sneak up on each other, hold kisses for a few moments, and spin in ways that made our clothes shine. Nothing felt awkward or forced. Thus far, we've only received the preview photos from our elopement, but each one is an absolute stunner and SUCH an accurate portrait of our love. OH! And I have to mention, Becky thinks of EVERYTHING. Rain was forecasted on our wedding day, and Becky came equipped with two clear umbrellas. She also brought a tote filled with water, tissues, and gum. It was the perfect place to store my purse and our treats for later plus Band-Aids for when our shoes got pinchy. If I could get married all over again, I'd choose Elope to Chicago in a heartbeat. We waited a couple months for Cook County to figure out how to grant marriage licenses virtually. Becky, the owner and photographer behind Elope to Chicago, was one of our top two choices when we were finalizing new elopement plans this summer. She won our business because she was so helpful and helped us solve dilemmas!! We hadn't really explored venues here -- all we cared about was outdoors with some shade from the sun, and safe for our handful of guests -- so we valued her suggestions and flexibility with nailing down a new location, time/date, and an officiant. Prior to our wedding date, we had virtual meetings to plan out the details of our outdoor ceremony and photo session. We discussed our COVID safety precautions in detail -- what we were doing, what our 4 guests were doing, what our official and photographer would each be doing to make it as safe as possible for all involved. We also met with our officiant Jill, who helped us write our vows and personalized our ceremony based on what she learned about us. On our wedding morning, everything was EASY and my biggest stress was doing my own hair and makeup because Elope to Chicago took care of everything else. Our photos are AMAZING! Becky's photos capture the warmth and intimacy we share as a couple, and she had great suggestions for a few playful shots. Really happy to support this local, woman-owned business!

We contracted them for two months of design work ahead of the date and received nothing for the first month. We prodded them through their frustrating website (the only means of communication since we never got any sort of direct email address) and when we did finally receive a mood board it was 6-8 images of items that were all clearly pulled from a single search on their preferred vendor website. We ended up doing all the decor planning and transportation ourselves so this was a complete waste. We only met our day-of coordinator a week or so ahead of the day and while Emily was professional and courteous Gina basically missed the whole meeting on the phone with someone else as we could hear through the video call. In the end bc we had done all the planning and transport ourselves and our venue coordinator had done all the logistics work with our vendors there wasn't much to do on the day. We found out later through social media they're contracting 3 or more weddings per weekend so if you want any sort of personal attention, look elsewhere. They're clearly optimizing for quantity over quality.

Everything that Gina and her associate did to set up was absolutely stunning and she thought of everything. She was so calm and collected and that was priceless, as it helped keep me grounded. Sometimes the vendors you end up choosing end up moving businesses and that's exactly what happened with Kehoe. We met with 4 different decor companies for my son's recent bar mitzvah and opted to go with Kehoe because we absolutely loved Mal- her energy, her warmth and (most of all) her fresh ideas. She was lovely and easy to work with throughout the entire process so I was bummed to learn a month before our big event that she she had moved companies. However, my planner assured me that we were in very good hands because Tom Kehoe was taking over our event and that most of our event was already in production. I guess this is the benefit of going with a large company like Kehoe. I do think things were a little more chaotic in the few weeks leading up to the bar mitzvah as Tom and his team (we mostly worked with Sydney) got up to speed. We had to redirect with some proofs at the last minute, but the finished product was more amazing than I even expected. The tennis decor they designed was youthful, classy and absolutely breathtaking. Even big sister (my 15 year old daughter) who is tough to impress walked in and said "WOW- this is actually really cool." And while there were many amazing wow moments from the night the #1 comment I received over and over and over again was that decor was unbelievable. It was definitely pricey and tough to swallow spending what we spent on what's essentially a 13 year olds birthday party, but I gave the same budget to 3 other well known decor companies and the budget went further with Kehoe than any of the others. And I thought their ideas were also more innovative and appropriate for a 13 year old boy. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased. I'm bummed that Mal herself moved on, but would definitely consider using Kehoe again providing there is another designer who is a creative and fun to work with.

Jordyn was professional, kind, incredibly detail oriented, put out every single fire that came her way (usually without me even noticing), and absolute pleasure to work with. I was already feeling so happy with our decision but there were two things that really took me over the edge. In general, I was a pretty relaxed bride and had virtually no special requests except: I wanted to walk down the aisle to a very specific moment in a very specific song. Jordyn heard the song twice at our rehearsal and somehow did magic math to figure out how to space the bridesmaids so I would walk out at the perfect moment -- and it was perfect. Second: I was famished after our ceremony and hadn't told anyone, but like clockwork, the second our last picture was taken, Jordyn arrived with an entire TRAY of apps for my husband and me. Right after our first dance, she arrived with a cocktails without being asked. Not only is this lovely lady wonderful and hardworking, she's also the cutest and the funniest, and it made me feel like I had a trusted friend working the operations department on our wedding day. Not to mention, when our trolley broke down after the ceremony in front of the church, she nor her assistant was there to assist with a solution, so luckily one of my bridesmaids (who is a wedding planner) stepping in. From the get-go she was warm and inviting (and prompt!), and she wholeheartedly encouraged me and my wife to make our wedding our own, listening to our love story and adding details from it to her part of the ceremony. She provided an exhaustive list of vows to choose from and personalize, and was open to us writing our own if that's what we wanted. Anytime we interacted, she radiated with positive energy and encouragement of my wife's individuality as a bride (she wore a red dress...), as if our wedding were the most special thing on earth, and important. She checked in regularly as the date approached, which made us feel like we could count on her. Plus, she knows her stuff (e.g., "Hey, don't forget to get a marriage license within X number of days of the wedding, look at each other--not me--when you're saying your vows, etc etc).
